What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I'm So Sorry, Jill

Some of my favorite new submissions this week:

The Serial Killer:

How...?

The Cheapskate:

It's a professional cake... with a paper plate on it.

A PAPER PLATE.

The "Woohoo! Great Deal!"

Although the fact that it's on clearance does restore a little of my faith in humanity.

The Bakery Equivalent Of Jumping On The Counter, Mooning All Your Customers, And Demanding $19.50 For It:

And a double "Napy Berindag" on you!

And finally, it comes to this:

The world's most unfortunate use of "fancy Ls"

(Sorry, Jill.)

Thanks to Caroline B., Melissa M., Mandi B., Melissa P., & Amy R. for making all our childhood nicknames suddenly not seem so bad.

That's not Jill - it's Jizz - don't you know her?

…But #4 clearly says Hapu Berlhdag which in Lower Slobovian means "Spring is joyous time of melting sewage pipes".

Cake 1: hmm, someone's dyslexic perhaps? But then they shouldn't be making cakes.

Cake 2: too bad there it wasn't a stack of paper plates on the cake. "Now featuring serving plates built right into the cake!"

MAYbe, they weren't SUPPOSED to be "fancy Ls"....

Although this may not get posted I know you, Jen will appreciate my humor...
Maybe Jizz is correct... The parents are raising a gender fluid child & are currently calling them what they came from until they can name themself!

"Napy Berindag" is a traditional greeting during the Sather Falkerhood season.

I can't help but notice the two black holes on the last cake. Either they had trouble preparing the camera or they only noticed the 'l's look like 'z's after the birthday song was sung 😶

Y'know, though, the kid who got the Frozen plate cake probably was totally thrilled with it. And the rest of the decorations were quite nice. Pick of the litter today.

The Serial Killer: The Prequel

*interior of bakery, cheerful music*
Baker Joe: "I lost the picture the customer gave me, but it's a pretty simple design. It's just a rectangle with--"
Baker Bob: "What's a rectangle?"
Joe: "Uh...it's like a square, except--"
Bob: "What's a square?"
Joe: "It's like a...like a circle with corners?"
Bob: *blank stare*
Joe: "It's, um...look, just draw a box like this" *makes rectangle shape with hands*
Bob: "Oh! Right!"
Joe: "Okay & next to the box is three lines--"
Bob: "What's three?"
Joe: "The lines, there are three of them."
Bob: "No, I mean what is three?"
Joe: "It's a number, more than two and less than four."
Bob: *blank stare*
Joe: *sigh* "Next to the box, make this many lines..." *holds up three fingers* "...like this." *makes L shape*
Bob: "Oh! Right!"
Joe: "And then inside the box is an S"
Bob: "What's--"
Joe: "An S. It's a squiggly shape with top & bottom thingies & a middle thingie that connects them...like this." *draws S in air*
Bob: *blank stare*
Joe: "Okay just, just draw some sort of shape at least vaguely like what I just described, okay?"
Bob: "Rght! You got it!"
*fade to black, ominous music*
