And This Concludes The Festival of Slights

In the mad rush to get custom Hanukkah treats out, sometimes mistakes happen.
You might misspell something:
(Ooh! That's a new one!)
Or get a little carried away with your store's "Hanukkah House" display:
Or maybe - juuust maybe - you might put several dozen upside-down Halloween temporary tattoos on all your store's Hanukkah cupcakes, thinking they were dreidels. Or maybe Stars of David. But definitely something Jewish.
Still better than snowflakes.
My wreckporter-who-wishes-to-remain-anonymous tells me this baker had to hand-cut dozens and dozens of these, and never once noticed that they all say Happy Halloween. Or that they're big spiderwebs. With a dangling spider. That looks like this:
Oy.
Vay.
Thanks to Marlo D., Shoshana F., & Anony M. for an especially chappy chanukah.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when tats we manage to misread.
Oh my stars! What a web of confusion!
Chappy Challoween!!
Hey, the webs still have six points, so give the wreckerator a star. Or a point. Or even six points...
Wow, I've never seen so much flotsam on a cake as featured on the second one! Did they take anything remotely Jewish-related and throw it on there? I bet it was their only cake to celebrate this holiday -- which I cannot spell. (But am smart enough that, if I had to make a cake, I'd look it up!) I know there are several spellings for the holiday, but that cookie's is NOT one of them!
A great mistake happened there.
Well, we combined Thanksgiving and Hanukkah this year. Why not Halloween and Hanukkah. Something like Hanukween? Or Hallowkah. Or, not...
Hey you finally found one with a proper Star of David!
At least the Star of David on the first cake is presentable... Sigh...
Just what is cake no. 2 supposed to be? It looks like either a tree stump or a fairy tale cottage underneath all the added decorations.
Even though the spelling was wrong, at least the creator of #1 made a pretty decent and balanced Star of David. I guess we can't have everything!
Happy 14th Birthday to my youngest girl child! May your Minion Cake (Thanks a LOT @Sharyn!) be exactly what you wished for and not a wreck!
In other news, she is working on a project for school and the caption on one of her pictures was "My sister's 8th Grade Gradulashon" Obviously I've been here long enough because I was able to translate it. Took me a minute to remember how to spell it correctly, however.
As for the spiderweb tattoo/snowflake/Star of David wannabe cupcakes, maybe they just really wanted to be on CW. A person really can't be that careless. Can they???
Wait, this is CakeWRECKS so obviously they can. Nevermind.
Chanukah or Chanukkah are the more traditional ways of translating the Hebrew. Dropping the C from the beginning only became the most common spelling recently. Of course they still mangled it. But what we should be poking fun at is the double N, or the missing H at the end, or the U after the A, or really just about everything except the CH.
Sharyn and suebee HAHAHAHA :D jodee congrats to your kid :) as for those challoweenukah cupcakes*headdesk* just about covers it.
Is anyone else a bit squicked out about the thought of putting tattoo ink onto something that is going to be eaten? Even if only a trace amount gets transferred, I highly doubt it is edible or even palatable, for that matter.
Yes - what Abby said. Chanukkah on the cake is merely misspelled with additional n-age and misplaced u...
Chaunnaka: Chewwie's Jewish cousin.
Nothing says Happy Hanukkah like spiderwebs on your cupcakes.
*falls on floor* Sweet mercy, did that one person not know what a Star of of David actually looks like? And what is the deal with cake #2? It's a melty, dejected mess.
At least it had six points . . . .
Dear Challoweenukah (thanks @ mindy1) Baker,
That is not the holiday you are looking for. Move Along.
Best Regards,
Just Andrea
@Sharyn: Teehee!
@Persephone: : - D
@Jodee: Happy Birthday to your baby girl! Perhaps she was quoting a Wreck when she typed the caption for her project? Alternatively, spending too much time here may make you forget the correct way to spell certain words, such as 'Graduation', 'Birthday', or that really tough one, 'Happy'.
I think I would have preferred to remain anonymous too!
The first cake made me think of Chaka Khan. Chappy Chaunnaka-Kahn, everyone! I feel for you!
What is blue, has six points, is semi-dreidel-ish shaped, AND has a holiday name that starts with an H? Why, Halloween cupcakes, of course!
Oy to the vey!
@Just Andrea ~ I had to go back and check to make sure I really did spell them correctly! o.O
Does no one Google anymore????
After reading these posts for about a year, I just realized that Anony M. is not an actual person. I thought that this "Anony" person was just really into cake wrecks and was searching bakeries for them...
None of these will ever compare to Sandra Lees legendary Marshmallow-filled Hannukah Angel Food Cake
Okay now we all know that house was fashioned from a nativity manger. And that's oy VEY lady. Sheesh.
@Inaya .... bahahahahaha snort
They failed to notice they said happy halloween?? Lol this wreckerator must have been cutting these things out in their sleep or something. As for that gingerbread thing.. sugar rush anyone??
#1) I think someone posted this last year - it won't help with spelling but it's very catchy: How Do You Spell Channukkahh? by the LeeVees.
#2) I had no idea that gingerbread houses were a Hanukkah thing. On the other hand, between the icing & the flotsam there's no guarantee that there's gingerbread rather than cardboard in there. Is cardboard kosher?
#3) Well, at least some of the cupcakes appear to be chocolate.
One of my former co-workers would not eat blue food. Maybe she had a point...
...And King Antiochus launched a campaign of moral degradation against the Jews. A campaign of ugly, misspelled cakes. It wasn't until Judah Maccabee destroyed them with his mighty fork that we were free of the tyranny. And that, children, is the story of Chaunnaka!
I thought the Festival of Lights was Diwali, but I could be wrong.
And how could you not notice what the last thingy said? Or looked like? Or...my brain had just exploded.
Well at least the cookie has a Star of David (not the greatest looking one, granted) on it, not a freaking pentagram like the one in the "Hanukkah Blues" post a few days ago. And at least "Chanukah" is misspelled in a quasi-understandable manner.
Basically, at least the cookie has some excuses, the "house" & cupcakes however...there's no excuse for those!
Actually, what I want to know is not why the person cutting out the paper stickers didn't notice they were for halloween, but rather, who printed them out in the first place thinking that spiders = Hanukkah ?
I have a little
dreidel, dreidel, dreidel.
Made it out of trash.
