What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I am thankful for my family!

November 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJulie

I'm thankful for a delicious cup of vanilla earl grey tea, for beautiful music, for incredibly wonderful and loving friends, for the ridiculous things my parents do that drive me crazy, for art supplies just waiting to be turned into something beautiful, and for sparkling fresh snow.

I am thankful for my best friend Liz. She gave me a roof over my head when my boyfriend and I broke up and I had no job, no money, and nowhere to go. I now have a good job and am living in a wonderful city!

I think this year I am most thankful to all my new colleagues that have made this American feel at home in France, even though it is my first job and my family lives 3000 miles away from me. Merci bien mes amies!

I'm thankful for my new baby, Rose, who will be exactly six weeks old on Thanksgiving. She's the love of my life.

The little thing I'm thankful for? Those tiny green plug sticks that Starbucks has that keep your drink from sloshing over while you drive. Brilliant invention.

November 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRovingBarista

I'm thankful for the fact that even though everyone I work with likes country music, my pharmacist on Saturday nights will make my midnight shift suck a tiny bit less by playing the "saturday night safety dance" featuring 80s new wave and pop music. Just cuz I like it.

Being curled up on the couch with my husband on a cold, wet day, sipping hot mulled cider and just talking together - about life, trying for a baby next year, our jobs, our families...

Forget fancy dates, we make grocery shopping into a thrilling expedition into the wild! Doing laundry? An adventure! We goof off and have fun, it doesn't matter what we're doing.

I am thankful that I found someone who I have can so much fun with, any time, anywhere!

I'm thankful for lazy Sunday afternoons and colds that conveniently go away in time for me to go to class.

I am thankful for home :) It's small, and humble, but it is HOME. To be back up here after nearly 3 years feels wonderful. Arrivng by ferry early in the morning, seeing familiar sights, trying to see what's new, and finally pulling into the driveway at home, even the dogs recognized where we were <:) Dorothy said it best, there's no place like home.

Darling cakes! I'm thankful for my husband making my birthday special today by making dinner and doing the dishes and letting me take a nap.

November 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterHeather S.

I'm thankful for the few minutes between each "snooze" alarm in the mornings. The alarm almost always wakes me up right away, but I press the snooze button and spend a few minutes cuddling with my half-asleep hubby. Sometimes even if I try to get up right away, he wraps an arm around me and holds me close. It's so cute! :]

I'm thankful to be alive. Six months ago I stopped breathing and my heart stopped. Today I live my life as if each day is my last...and I do things instead of just sitting around doing nothing.

When I look up into the night sky and see my favorite constellation -Orion-I wave at him and whisper "Hi!". And I ALWAYS feel an absolute, electric wonder at just BEING here. Sometimes, it's so intense it makes me cry.
And I'm thankful that I'll always be amazed by bees and how they make honeycombs.

Thankful for my 6 year old daughter's kisses and her 'pocket kisses' - she fills my pockets with kisses so I don't run out. :-)

November 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterColleen

I'm Thankful for my family. They've always been there for me, even if they are slightly annoying at times. When I lost my job a couple years ago, they helped me out simply by being there for me by letting me raid their food storage. When my best friend passed away this year, they were there when I needed a shoulder to cry on, or somebody to lean against. They've supported me in school, encouraged me when I needed it the most, and they've loved me through every stupid mistake I've made. They taught me how to laugh at myself. And how to get up and continue dancing like a dork through life. My nieces have taught me to forgive and forget, reminding me without knowing it that life's too short to hold onto anger. My nephew has taught me patience, and that all good things come with a little time and a lot of work. I love my family more than anything in this world. I am so grateful to have them. They are my favorite things.

Thank you for your blog. It has always brought a smile to my face.

Sundays are my favorite. My workday is shorter, so I get to relax in bed with a book for an extra hour. Free skating at my local rink gets me out and active. This is the day I do my grocery shopping. Also, I look forward all week to Sunday sweets here on cake wrecks and Sunday secrets on postsecret.

Both my Aunt and cousin are cancer free! The doctors just gave my cousin the thumbs up after his bout with leukemia, and my aunt just underwent a mastectomy for breast cancer. It's been hard for the whole family, but things are definitely looking up :)

I'm extremely thankful for my family! We've had a really rough couple of weeks due to medical issues involving my brother, but he's fine now thank God. It's caused us to look at our own mortality and it makes me positively ill to think of my parents, especially my mother, getting older so I'm cherishing and thankful of every moment I still have with them. I love my family.
