What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I'm thankful that I got to see my husband this weekend, even if only for a day and a half. I'm thankful for the guardian angels watching over him as he travels. I'm also thankful for Haiku Joy and her (?) great poems.

I am thankful for being given the priviledge of being mommy to my beautiful Chinese born daughter. Although she was not born to me naturally, she is the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me. She makes each day worth living. I could not imagine my life without her beautiful smile and bright, shiny eyes. Thank you for being my Daughter, Madi! Mommy loves you more than anything in this world!!

I'm ever thankful for that automatic shut-off feature on my iron! It has saved me miles of returning home to check. Also, I love that sleeping dragon. His smile is so sweet and innocent.

I guess I'm most thankful for all of the ways people demonstrate that we are truly limitless... whether it's through the beautiful artistry of the cakes you show us on Sunday Sweets or through the humbling sight of hundreds of "everyday" people completing the monumental task of 140.6 miles at the Arizona Ironman triathlon.

I'd love to demonstrate that I am limitless as well... but I know that I do have some limits... So - Ironman here I come! =)

I am thankful for life itself! It's something so much bigger than any of us, but so small in our minds we tend to take it for granted. To wake up in the morning, alive and breathing, next to my husband, hearing my daughter snoring through the monitor, is a glorious and magical thing....

Love it, another great post!

I'm thankful for cake...and cookies...and anything chocolate lol
And for my family and my Father.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I am thankful that no matter how many curve balls have come my way, somehow I am able to keep on going. What helps the most is my faith, and my wonderful 16-year-old son. I have been a self - employed freelancer for three years now. My son is so supportive he REFUSES to allow me to even consider full-time work. With that kind of support, and a God who always takes care of us, how could I be anything but thankful?

I am thankful for the NICU Staff in Fargo for taking awesome care of my grandson who entered this world 6 weeks early at a "hefty" 4lb 13 3/4 oz and is now almost 11 lbs! I am thankful for all of my family and friends that took such great care of my family at home (4 hours from Fargo) while I was in Fargo for 5 weeks supporting my daughter and grandson. I am thinkful for the copmpany I work for being so supportive while I was on leave and to those co-workers who donated their vacation time so I could stay with my daughter and grandson. Thank you!

I'm thankful for CW, my Bose Wave radio in my kitchen that makes baking a dance marathon, my kids that dance in the kitchen with me, Katy Perry, Wilton's calla lily making set, my "fondantier" husband whose OCD makes our cakes look perfect, Yankee Candles, Janet Evanovich, and orange dogs.

I am thankful for 4 boys. My father who raised me all on his own & did a mighty fine job if you ask me. My husband who makes my life whole, I can't imagine living even one day without him. My oldest son who is so full of energy & has the biggest heart ever... He's 8 & still smooches & hugs me in public! Last but not least, my youngest son who makes the whole room light up with his big ol' smile & can make the worst day ever all better with one of his amazing hugs.

I am thankful for the kindness of strangers - those who donated food to the local food banks so that I could eat while on medical leave due to ankle surgery and for my mom who continues to give, even when things are tight for her AND she's going blind (which makes me all the more grateful for this blog, which helps me to smile on those depressed days). I'm also grateful she taught me to cook and economically! I am thankful for my guinea pig who passed this year, for giving me four wonderful years of love an smiles and am that much more thankful for my younger guinea pig, who helps to keep me going and doesn't mind that I sometimes hog the bed. And I am thankful for the Sims game, books, Princess Bride, Mel Brooks, and all those other nerdy things I like, because they allow me to escape when I need it most :-)

I am thankful that there are still men and women that willingly put themselves in harms way to make sure that we live in a world, country, state, town or neighborhood that is just a little bit safer because they are there. Thank you to the military, law enforcement, fire fighters, ambulance drivers and EMTs for providing us with your service even if it means being away from your family and loved ones during the holidays.

November 20, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMaria

JEN! This has been one of my favorite Sunday Sweets of all time. (Why can't I suppress the urge to repeat "OF ALL TIME!!"?) That song is one of MY favorite things, and it holds some very special memories for me. I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting to actually see the tie-in to the movie, so it was a nice surprise! Really well done today, thank you!!!

xoxo, Amber

Thank You Jen!!! These made me smile and cry a little bit as I sang this song in my head while looking. They are amazing. (Oh Roses, oh Kitty, oh UP, oh......... DRAGON!!!!) It's been a hellish week at our house with Strep throat and cough with the kiddo and waking up with a sore throat myself this morning, I am a bit emotional........... Our "Grow With Your Child Bubble" is now on order and should be here soon. Ella will NOT be leaving our house unless enclosed in said bubble and therefore Strep (again) and other communicable diseases will not be a problem, right????? I just needed a smile!!!!!!!!!
