Wreckage Of Unusual Size

In honor of the 24th anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time, I'd like to tell you a story.
It's a story of the man in black:
Who may or may not look like the Noid from those old Domino's commercials.
And also a beautiful princess:
It's a tale of fencing and fighting,
of torture and despair,
"I've just sucked one year of your life away.
Now I need a glass of milk."
...of chases, escapes, and, of course, twoo wuv.
Also known as "Twoo huv"
There's also a subplot of a son avenging his father's murder.
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to... What's this? A cake?"
"Oooh, are those cherries?
I mean, uh...
Prepare to die.
And also pass me that fork over there."
Together, our heroes will defeat an evil prince, a wily Sicilian, a six-fingered man...
and, of course, Rodents Of Unusual Size.
"Hi."
"Btw, you may want to watch out for those popping noises. Trust me."
Bye bye, Jennifer B., Emily M., Jefferey W., Colin & Jen, Jan Y., Jennifer W., Nicole V., Rysha M., & Melanie H.! Have fun storming the castle!
Oh, and before I go: Anybody want a peanut?

Best movie ever! Love the ROUS cake.
One small quibble: Inigo Montoya.
[Editor's note- Bwoops. This one's totally Jen's fault. -john]
"You keep using that word! I do not think it means what you think it means!" Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies of all time.
I was disturbed by a festive cake and exclamation point about a dead dad. Then I realized it actually says, "dead dud" So that IS a good reason to celebrate, I guess.
TPB...my favorite movie of all time!
So many Princess Bride quotes!
WIN
As You Wish
Is that Sorry Game pieces on the dead dad cake?!? It could kisses but I didn't know they made them in colors.
Classic!
I'm going to ask for an ROUS cake for my birthday this year.
I'm totally bringing a "sorry about your dead dad" cake to the next funeral I go to. I mean, nothing says I'm here for you like party cake.
My kids would actually love that Star Wars cake. Heck, I wouldn't mind it either. And the peanut's kind of cute...just wondering about how somebody chooses that theme for a birthday cake.
What does it say on the Peanut cake??
Happy (All Tax) Birthday Desiree
WTF?
Thanks for the vacation down memory lane! As you wish!! Ha!
I second Kat!

Love this post - love the movie....please please what does it say on the peanut?
Dear God, what is that thing?
One of the first things I noticed about my now-husband was his uncanny ability to quote The Princess Bride. We could (and still do) quote entire scenes! Our favorite is between Valerie and Mad Max ("Shut up, wench!" "I'm NOT a wench, I'm yer Wife!").
Our family is alternately worried and enabling; for Christmas several years ago, we received the movie on DVD, the book, and a t-shirt with Vencini "Impossible!".
Speaking of the DVD, I'm gonna go watch it RIGHT NOW! Thanks, Jen and John!!
As you wish!
<3
By the way, it's also one of the best BOOKS ever--in fact, I feel that it was a great movie BECAUSE so much of the dialogue was taken verbatim from the book. But there's a lot more backstory you don't get in the movie. So you should read it sometime. Really.
Have fun storming the castle!
Love it! Will you join my campaign to get dragon con to acknowledge the 25th anniversary next year? And by campaign I mean I've sent them 2 emails and gotten no response.
#2 would have been a perfect Miss Piggy CCC (patooie!) cake had they just put a round nose on there instead.
And I'm confused, you say peanut, but I see sanitary pad with a face.
I can't go to the zoo without thinking that the capybara is an ROUS. It makes me snigger every time.
"Life is pain, Highness! Anyone who says differently is selling something. And it's usually really ugly cake."
How come out of all that wreckage, what disturbed me the most was finding out Big Bird is a cross-dresser....
Love that movie!
talltexan : I believe it really does say "dead dad". If you compare the letter in "dad" to the a in "about", they look the same :( What an odd cake.
Humperdinck! Humperdinck! Humperdinck!
<3 This movie!
I 3rd Kat: Best.Post.Ever.
And I totally know what movie we're watching this weekend!
You never cease to make me smile, and these days, that's truly an accomplishment. But today, you made me guffaw aloud, and for that, I make my first comment ever to say:
Thank you.
Now I must return to working on my Ph.D.
Think it'll work?
It would take a miracle.
INCONCEIVABLE!!!!!
LOL Love the post. Love the movie, just got it on blue-ray.
Just may have to watch it again with my boys tonight. My 12 year old thinks it's hilarious!
Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist!
Sorry about your dead dad? Really?! Wow.
Unfortunately I have no pictures, but here is a cake wreck story -
When my husband and I got married, we had "Wuv, Twoo Wuv" engraved on the inside of our wedding bands. (yep, it's true!)
So my mother decides to order a cake for my wedding shower with "Wuv, Twoo Wuv". As you can guess, the first cake wasn't right at all, I think they actually spelled it correctly as "Love, True Love"! So she had them scrape it off and try it again.
My Mom, "I want it to say "Wuv, Twoo Wuv"
Baker "OK, L U V.."
My Mom "No, no, W U V.."
Baker "oh, ok" <scribble scribble over "Luv", then writing "Wuv"...>
And what do you think that cake looked like? Yep! A big icing blob in the shape of the scribble, followed by "Wuv, Twoo Wuv".
Our previous copy of TPB was on VHS and got destroyed by an evil VCR. However, just this past weekend I found a DVD copy at a garage sale for $1.00. $1.00!! Score.
Aw, the Star Wars cake isn't bad - a bit rough for a professional cake, maybe, but not heinous. Certainly not as dreadful as that ROUS cake, which may give me nightmares. (Although because I am a giant geek I will point out that that's Return of the Jedi Luke...)
Fezzik are those rocks ahead? If there are we'll all be dead!
No more rhyming now I mean it.......Anybody want a peanut?
LOL- one of my favorite parts of TPB!!
Love that movie!! I was reading another blog (Pioneer Woman) and she admitted that she hadn't ever seen The Princess Bride... I didn't know there were people on this planet who hadn't seen that movie!!
Great Book!
Great Movie!
Great Post!
Twoo Wuv for this post!!
O...M...G D:
Oh my gosh! I can't believe you found a six-fingered cake! LOL
I heart the princess bride :) I'm totally going to make a date night with my husband to watch it again - it's been a while.
The Pincess Bride is one of the best movies ever. It's is brilliant. And if you haven't read the book you are depriving yourself of something even funnier. It is one of those very rare things, a great book they made a great movie of.
is that batman?
Inconceivable!
A pretty Princess.......
Inconceivable!
A great duel....
Inconceivable!
Run run as fast as you can......
You never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Can I get an arm?
True Love....
Inconceivable!
You keep using that word I don't think it means what you think it means.
Hey!
So I ordered the cupcakes for my kids birthday next month. The theme is balloons. (You try coming up with a birthday party theme that works for boys and girls at the same time before you judge me.) Anyway, I was telling the baker that the theme was balloons and that I read your blog. I explained that I did not want a big blob of icing on the cupcake with a squiggle because that just looks like sperm. I then listened to about 30 seconds of silence before she replied with, "I'm sorry. You don't want what??"
So now there is one more baker in the US who has heard of your blog and has been given directions to look it up. My own little PSA, if you will.
Thank you for providing such a hilarious resource for what not to do to cake!
Talk about "to the pain!"
Brilliant post, and how long have you been saving the six-fingered cake or ROUS for this one?
I think the peanut says "Happy 28 + tax birthday Desree' " That sounds to me like a deliberate and cute way of saying either a late 28th birthday party or a 29th birthday from someone who is joking that they'll always be basically 28. Like a friend who celebrated her 4th annual 30th birthday party...
I *may* be a little obsessed with that movie.
My roller derby name is Dread Pirate Robyn.
My text tone "Inconceivable".
My dream pet is a capybara. (Instead I have overweight chinchillas, which are still ROUSes, just not quite the same as a capy would be.)
Instead of "I do" we wrote our own wedding vows to include "As you wish" AND instead of the wedding march, I entered to Storybook Love AND the guy who did the ceremony started with the impressive clergyman's speech.
I give out copies of the movie ALL the time (it was $2 on black Friday last year - so I bought about $30 worth to give away!)
I'm trying to convince my husband we should name our son Westley, but he isn't going for it. (Probably because I dated a Wes years ago!) (I still have 12 weeks to convince him though!)
AND the book really is better than the movie! :)
No more rhymes, i mean it!
Have you seen the reunion video from GMA? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBjXMNFHPY
Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
If there are, we all be dead!
Love the movie! Love this post!!
This might be my favourite post yet!
Awesome post. Awesome movie. And, if possible, it's an even more awesome book. Read it. Really.
We had the "mawage" lines in our wedding ceremony. Thankfully, the pastor was able to keep a straight face.
I've seen some pretty unappetizing cakes on this site, but I think that ROUS one may have topped them all. It scared me.
Seriously, am I the only one who after seeing the 2nd cake cannot get the song - {singing} She wore a pearl necklace! - out of my head???
