Wreckage Of Unusual Size

In honor of the 24th anniversary of one of the greatest movies of all time, I'd like to tell you a story.
It's a story of the man in black:
Who may or may not look like the Noid from those old Domino's commercials.
And also a beautiful princess:
It's a tale of fencing and fighting,
of torture and despair,
"I've just sucked one year of your life away.
Now I need a glass of milk."
...of chases, escapes, and, of course, twoo wuv.
Also known as "Twoo huv"
There's also a subplot of a son avenging his father's murder.
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to... What's this? A cake?"
"Oooh, are those cherries?
I mean, uh...
Prepare to die.
And also pass me that fork over there."
Together, our heroes will defeat an evil prince, a wily Sicilian, a six-fingered man...
and, of course, Rodents Of Unusual Size.
"Hi."
"Btw, you may want to watch out for those popping noises. Trust me."
Bye bye, Jennifer B., Emily M., Jefferey W., Colin & Jen, Jan Y., Jennifer W., Nicole V., Rysha M., & Melanie H.! Have fun storming the castle!
Oh, and before I go: Anybody want a peanut?

This is the BEST POST EVER!!!!!! One of my all time favorite movies!
Love, Love, Love this post! My best friend and I work nights together at a local hospital (in different departments, x-ray and respiratory therapy) and spent one entire 12 hour shift texting four word liners from Princess Bride that fit our situations, moods and surroundings! Perfect way to make the time go faster!!!!!
(I'M NOT A WITCH!!! I'M YOUR WIFE!!!!!!!!)
...Also, dino jockeys rule says Ella.....
My 4 year old daughter (she turned 4 today), says the 'peanut' cake looks like a 'Walking Cheese!!!' I am going to go with the 4 year old on this one!!
Love it! And I was saying all the lines right along with you ... cause that what Princess Bride addicts do! Thanks for a great Friday pick me up!
Love, love, love this post. The only thing that would be better would be Princess Bride Sunday Sweets. And now I'm wondering how many people will be watching the movie this weekend now because you've inspired them. I know I will be!
I'm worried that I actually like the last cake a bit. Ignoring the writing of course.
you know... i'm not saying i'd like to build a summer home here but the trees are quite lovely.
Now that dad is all dead, there's only one thing left to do...go through his pockets and look for loose change.
The cakes are great! The only thing better is a nice MLT...mutton lettuce and tomato sandwich where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe...
OMG!! Too funny.
The beautiful princess reminds me of Miss Piggy lol
& WTH?! is that rodent? Why would someone want to eat that? lol
Great post! But, really, how can it be 24 years already?!?! I am suddenly feeling a bit old...
Love this post! TPB is the best movie! My boss and I quoted it on the way to our staff meeting the other day! His development is being sued for using land they want to buy, and I made the land war in Asia comment, and he laughed heartily! Princess Bride transcends generations!
See you next weekend when you're HERE!!!!
My favorite all time post! The dead dad cake is so morbidly hilarious.
This is my very favorite CW post of all time. And that is saying something. THANK YOU!
Ohmigosh. Wuv this post. Now I really know y'all are my kind of people.
So much to love, between the cakes, the commentary, and the comments in the thread. Dread Pirate Robyn, I love you a little bit, in a non-creepy way (really.) We have friends whose extended family LOVES TPB, and at family weddings, there is usually a skit involving the Impressive Clergyman's speech. I was married several years before the movie was released, and didn't even see it until the early 90s, and probably wouldn't have had the guts to have the quote included in my ceremony, if I could even get it past anyone else involved. However, for the quote engraved on the back of my iPod, I have "Anybody want a peanut?"
I bought the VHS and book as a birthday present to myself...OMG, close to *20* years ago now, and later bought the DVD when it was released. I only just refrained from buying the 20th anniversary version, although when my daughter goes off to college, maybe I'll give her my copy and buy a new one. :-P
Best. Post. Ever.
I agree with Dani. Princess Bride has got to be one of the most quotable movies ever. There is a Facebook page for TPB with over 1.7 million followers. It is one of the best movies ever made, a classic...and yes, the book is awesome in its own way. Great post, and one of my favorites, J&J. I wore my "As You Wish" t-shirt for casual day yesterday. =)
To blave! I distinctly read that cake and it said, "to blave."
The huge douche ad was a nice touch next to the headline of wreckage of unusual size. (You too can avoid a stinky snootch and go pantiless, just like the famous people do!)
This cracked me up!! Love the Princess Bride...in fact my husband and I had the theme song from it played at our wedding...as I walked up the aisle!!
This may be my favorite CakeWreck blog ever. Amazing. Not to mention, I've been trying to convince my husband that we need to dress our 2 year old as Dread Pirate Roberts for Halloween. He doesn't think other people will "get it". I suggested we teach our son to say, "As you wish.", and give him a giant stuffed rat to carry around. My husband didn't seem to think this was a good idea. Whatever.
Amazing post for an Amazing MOVIE! Now I need to see if it is on Netflix! and I want a ROUS cake for my birthday (of course I say this about most cakes i see on here!)
Fantastic! Love that movie. Junior year, the guy I sat next to in English would quote it with me.
Best TPB story I have, though, was when my mother-in-law got remarried a few years ago. Their offcial had The Lisp. My husband, a couple of his friends and I are all huge Princess Bride fans and exhanged looks and did all we could not to laugh through the ceremony. Afterwards, we were talking about it and found out that she didn't notice (but admitted we were right when she watched the video) and her husband hadn't ever seen the movie.
I can't think about her wedding now without grinning.
My day is inconceivably better now.
Sorry about your dead dad? Holy cripes, Batman! I only recently watched TPB with my daughter (she's 27 and I'm 58) but I read the book decades ago. I guess I was afraid the movie just couldn't measure up, but it really was hysterical! So many excellent actors and thank gods William Goldman did his own screen play and Rob Reiner directed. Time to watch it again.
PS At my age, I need to have "dead parent" cakes mass produced. Still rotflmao!!
Looks like *somebody* should be calling the Brute Squad on these wreckerators...
Awesome post.
LOL. Also, +PB Homage. Cheers to the "flop" that everyone has seen (with good reason)!
I just read the book about three weeks ago - what excellent timing!! everyone's already covered all the great quotes, so I'm just gonna go watch the movie again.
and yeah,
Best Post Ever
(okay, 2nd best, I totally GEEKED on the Brent Spiner/Wil Wheaton post, but that didnt' actually have cakes, so does it count?)
see you in Houston!!!
Best. Post. Ever. Guess what I will be watching this evening? As you wish...
Mere words can not express how much I love this post! Absolutely fantastic!
This is one of the most exciting days I've had in a long time. Not only did the "true love" cake I submitted "make it" onto CakeWrecks BUT it is on the BEST MOVIE EVER tribute post. I can't thank you enough Jen and John! It is simply Inconceivable!!!!!
Miracle Max: You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
Best. Cakewrecks. Post. EVER.
Let me esplain....no, there is too much. Let me sum up-
These cakes are hideous.
And while you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed!
so love this post so much!
I think Desiree's peanut cake is a literal LOL with misspelling to boot. All tax = all caps. So: HAPPY BIRTDHAY DESIREE is what it should have said.
Loved the book first.
The ROUS cake is exceptionally gross... Just in time for Halloween I suppose. Honestly, I don't think I'd want to cut into it, let alone eat it!
@SaraCVT Book?! Where have I been? I must read this book you speak of!
#1 'Noid' is the first thing I thought of. Right before noticing the cupcakes and reaching for a bucket.
#2 'Kermit Finally Snaps' wasn't one of the more popular Muppets movies...
#3 What's wrong with this one? (Joking. I'm joking.)
#4 That's quite a 'spare tire' you have there, "Gingerbread Man". Or should I say, Cupcake Man... heh heh heh. Your cover is blown.
#5 'True hove'? Can't...make sense of it...
#6 "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust... [brightly] Who wants cake?"
#7 "Great Job on your piano recital -- no one has ever played the 'Minute Waltz' in ten seconds! Of course, you might have an unfair advantage..."
#8a/b Gaah! Looks like something from 'The Phantom Tollbooth'.
#9 I vote, 'peanut'. As imagined by someone who has never seen one.
Love, love, love this post!! Princess Bride will always be on my Top Ten movies list. :0)
I have nothing original to say , but I do love the movie & love this post. Wish you had a ditto button.
These are awful! I'm killing myself once we reach the honeymoon suite.
batman looks like a kitten, the princess looks like miss piggy and the peanut with the heels, purse and bow is going to give me nightmares tonight.
Totally agree with Kat.
Best. Post. Ever.
Thanks Jen!! My favorite movie, (dis)honored with cake!!
blink, blink
an actual, honest-to-everything-holy 6 fingered cake…I have seen all I need to see. There is no more reason to live.
…except for the Orlando Rave 11/22- did you really think you’d be rid of me? Not one of you has ever been that lucky a day in your life! (insert maniacal laughter here)
@Craig “Kermit Finally Snaps” ROFLMAO Kermie is my love from childhood and I always wondered why he didn't smack Miss Piggy back. I was glad, mind you, but confused. :D
If you purchase the "True Love" cake with a card, you save 50 cents. Did you notice the note on the label?
xD Love it! I cracked up the most at the "dead dud" cake, and the six-fingered thumbs-up. I literally just finished watching TPB right before reading this post! Such a coincidence is completely, totally, and in all other ways...highly unlikely.
(Ha! You thought I was going to say "inconceivable," didn't you?)
@Shelley in Southern Illinois, that made me laugh so hard! Wish I was there to see it.
I agree with everyone else:
BEST. POST. EVER!!!!!
The cakes might say - You mocked me once; never do it again! Great post, fantastic movie! My family is always using quotes from it! Thanks.
It's the mysterious pig rat!
"Is this a kissing book?"
:D
"No more rhymes now, I mean it."
Favorite post ever. How long have you been collecting these? It's perfect.
So many people have said it, but I will say it again.
Best.
Post.
Ever.
Love this movie...We have loved it for years, and the book too. I love hearing from others who love it as much as we do.
