What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets Brings The Llama Drama

You guys, llamas are so hot right now. All that fur? Oh yeah, they're keepin' warm.

(By Alba's Cake Studio in California)

But also, Llamas are SO POPULAR now. Move over, sloths! Not only does llama rhyme with "no drama," they're also (basically) long-necked sheep with bunny ears and giant, boop-able noses:

(By Menina Dociera, Indonesia)

I mean, what's not to love?

Plus all llama's love pastels, which makes them superior to any primary-color-loving animal:

(Found on Re Pretti's Instagram)

Sometimes they're even pastel themselves!

(By Cup 'N Cake, Arizona)

Eeeeee! SO CUTE. (I think her fur is actual cotton candy, y'all. This is amazing.)

Check out these cool cats... who are actually llamas:

(By Kupcakes & Co, Maryland)

Or are they alpacas?

Note to self: Google the difference between llamas and alpacas.
(Or just wait for the commenters to tell you.)

This one is rocking the best blue bouffant:

(By Rossana Avila)

She's so dapper, I love it.

And this one may have the boopiest nose of all:

(By Bumble Bake in New York)

D'awww. And look at those eyelashes!

Here's a sweetie looking lovely in lilac:

(By Natasha Rice Cakes, California, based on the art of Sweet Bestiary)

And, be still my heart, here comes a whole herd!

(By Carlota's Sweets, Florida)

How could you possibly pick a favorite?
(Dibs on the orange bow tie, which is CLEARLY the best one. :D)

And finally, here comes the softest cotton cloud in the sweetest pink bow to make all of us sit and sigh happily:

(By Sugar High, Inc)

Ahhhhh. So sweet.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

That last one is an alpaca. But boopable? You must be absolutely covered in llama spit by now.

Love the lllamas, but I'm too much geek to tolerate the saguaro cacti. The two just don't meet up.

I was too lazy to look up the difference between alpacas and llamas and went straight to comments. Alas, I am the first so will have to look it up.
According to Modern Farmer (modernfarmer.com) Llamas are larger (400 pounds compared to 140 pounds for alpacas), have different ear and face shape. Llamas are generally used as pack animals and meat while alpacas are valued for their fibers which are much finer and greater variety of colors. And finally, llamas tend to be very independent (as opposed to herd mentality). And finally I love this--llamas are sometimes used as guard animals for alpacas and sheep.

Loved this post!

There once was a buttercream llama
Who would never get out her pyjamas
So her owner did bake
Her effigy in cake
Now she's nowt but a cute diorama.

They are all adorable, but what’s with all the cactus? Llamas are mountain creatures, from the Andes, not the Arizona desert.

February 17, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterNutraxfornerves

Perhaps the animals depicted with the cacti are guanacos or vicunas instead of llamas.

Those lilac ruffles on the 3rd to last cake, wow!
If llamas do somehow end up in the desert (Las Vegas specifically), there is a place for them: The Ambassador Hotel

Ogden Nash:

The one-l lama,
He’s a priest.
The two-l llama,
He’s a beast.
And I will bet
A silk pajama
There isn’t any
Three-l lllama.*

Question about the link to amazon: if we click it several times, does it help more? Or does it detect that I already clicked though and doesn’t count my subsequent clicks? Because I’m willing to click a hundred times if it’ll help CW and Epbot!

[Editor's note- Hi Emily! If you plan to shop through Amazon and click our link to get there, we will get a small percentage of the price of whatever you buy. However, you have to buy something within a day or it resets. Thanks so much for asking and for being so cool. :) -john (thoJ)]

I used to love this music video from Sesame Street about a girl taking her llama to the dentist.

Or as I heard it:

A one l lama is a guru.
A two l llama is a pack animal.
A three ala'ma' is a big fire in Boston.

So... that second cake. I can't help it. It looks like that party horn is coming out of his nose. Which works, I guess, I mean you do exhale that way. I'm just going to stop talking now.

Alpacas have pointy little elf ears and llamas have banana-shaped ears.

Best comparative description of Llama v. Alpaca:
Alpaca: Weighs 150 lbs, has soft fleece, listens to human commands, eats grass, is even tempered, travels in herds.
Llama: Weighs 400 lbs, carries a knife in its fur, listens to Norwegian death metal, eats old corn dogs, is constantly drunk, will kill you the first chance it gets.
