What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

10 Sweets For All Moms, But Especially Mine

Happy Mother's Day, all moms-but-especially-mine!

(Vkusno Bar, Russia)

You moms are the cat's meow; totally paw-some.

And while all moms are different, I bet a lot of you could come together over donuts and coffee:

(Sharp Tooth Treats, Canada)

Or if not, over cookies of donuts and coffee. Because seriously, how cute are these??

Do you have a Queen Mum in your life? Because this cake is fit for royalty:

(Cakes By Kasib, UK)

I call my mother-in-law "Mum," and she proudly displays a pair of red stiletto heels that she used to wear on a shelf in her living room. (She's currently in her seventies.) So yeah, this cake is perfect for her. :D

It's also hard to go wrong with a box of chocolates, no matter what the occasion:

(Amanda's Little Cake Boutique, UK)

My mom especially appreciates chocolate after a long hard day of not having any chocolate.
Same, Mom. Same.

This next beauty was created to support The Global Fund, particularly the fight for healthy moms and babies:

(Mad Hen Cakes, Australia)

Perfect for Mother's Day, right? I love the way the red ribbons form her skirt.

While we're talking moms and health care: did you know today is also International Nurses Day? This one's dear to my heart because my mom, Sharon, was an ICU RN most of my childhood, 'til a bad car accident left her unable to work. I never really understood what Mom did until much later in life, and I'm still in awe. Plus Mom is still very much our family nurse, ha, so here's a sweet cake for ALL the nurses, moms, and nurse moms out there:

(Karolyn's Kakes, Pennsylvania)

Thank you, nurses! You are all heroes who deserve cake today. :)

Now back to this adorableness:

(Yashina Olesya, Russia)

Bear hugs!

And some bunnies to love!

(Hey Cake Tripoli, Libya)

I love this new clear lollipop trend with embedded flowers, btw. So sweet.

One more cutie bearing gifts:

(CakeHeaven by Marlene, Malta)

And finally, a sweet mother daughter cake in my favorite colors:

(Kek Couture, Turkey)

Teal and orange! Woot woot!
I love the soft pink roses in the frames, too, and the family locket is a sweet touch.

Happy Mother's Day again, moms, and happy Sunday to everyone else! However you're spending your day today, here's hoping it's extra Sweet.

I love the prescription on the nurse's cake - I might skip the alcohol but never the cake.
