A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

This may be my favorite cartoon sketch yet!
This might actually explain all the wrecks we see on this site. How could sane, sober people make all the wrecks that get posted here? Oh, sorry! That was an assumption that any of these wreckerators are sane. My bad!
That third one is probably not really a wreck at all. It was probably all in line with some great scientific discovery. The red, yellow and green around the edge represent protons, neutrons and electrons. And they're winners. Hence, champ ions!
BTW, john(thoJ), I would see a cartoon doctor if I were you. That left arm is severely shorter than the right.
You. So. Nailed. It.
This actually explains a lot of the wrecks we see...
BRILLIANT John! I hereby make a motion that John (thoj) should put together a new Cake Wrecks book, with his
hilarious, well drawn and punny submissions. We all LOVE when he posts these gems! Can I get a Second on that motion? (not that I want to give you more work to do John and Jen, but theses posts are priceless)
These. Are. AWESOME! I love the stick figure storytelling. Of all the winning ions, you are the champ. I needed that giggle this morning. Thank you!
Why didn't I know about National Drunk Day in my 20s? Then again, back then EVERY DAY was Drunk Day!
I'd buy the last one.
If they filled that waffle cone with chocolate frosting I would be okay with that.
Oh I love these lol. So funny you guys made my night :D
Are those piping tips on the last cake?
I second that! John (tHoJ)'s cartoons are hilarious! I laughed at the "Wheee!" face, I laughed at the "urk" face, and now I know why the rum is gone. Oops, make that "the beer". Which is clearly also gone.
How do you always find the perfect cakes to illustrate your cartoons? (LOL)
P.S. I like the cartoons where the kitties make guest appearances. Maybe "drunk day" wasn't their thing, though.
Wow, that seventh cake (the blue globe with rainbow splatters on it) is scary looking. Well, scary and hilarious looking...
Are those olives on the last cake?
My first thought is "if these decorators don't drink, THEY SHOULD START!"
The wee champagne bottles on the last cake are a nice touch, but I can see how they'd be mistaken for something else; as someone else asked, "are those piping tips...?"
I could not stop laughing at the cartoons! MORE PLEASE!!
I, too, thought they were piping tips.
Thank you, April, for telling us what they really are!
