What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Christmas Creep-Off

It's a Christmas Creep-Off!

Hit us with your best shots, bakers!

Oooh, now that's creepy.

But this is creepier. [shudder]

AAAAAUUGHH!

I mean, er, points for finding a way to make a candy cane look like it's made from someone's collection of skin suits, bakers. That's... that's really something. [backs away slowly]

Hey, ever wonder what Richard Kind would look like with shaved eyebrows?

(This is Richard Kind.)

BEHOLD!

Yep, nailed it. So why am I terrified? How DO you do it, bakers?

Hey, ever had a reeeeally bad sunburn?

And then wanted to eat it?

Then this Christmas, YOU ARE IN LUCK.

0.o

K, I'm calling it: that's definitely the creepiest.

Thanks to Danica G., Patrick M., Robyn B., Sheri P., & Lindsay L. for the Christmas face-off. (Ew.)

I think I saw that last one on Doctor Who. "Moisturize me!"

Did anyone else want to yell "Moisturize me!" at that last one?

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMolly

I half expect that last cake to go "Moisturize me"

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterLittle Mouse

I'm calling the last one Lady Cassandra...

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMelC

I don't know much about facial hair, but aren't mustaches usually found *under* one's nose?

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSuBee

That first cake is a dirty old man! And did you mean "snake skins", rather than "suit skins"? If you really meant suit skins, I have no idea what they are. Is this a Florida thing?

OMG Jen, I laughed so hard at the Richard Kind cake!! That would have taken me hours to realize who that cake reminded me of, so I'm glad you did it for me! It would have niggled my brain all day, and nibbled at my consciousness like a mouse. Also, it's DEAD ON!! Thanks for the belly laugh.

"Hey, ever had a reeeeally bad sunburn? And then wanted to eat it?"
Okay, that is the most gross, awful, terrible, no good, very bad expression of 2016. Hands down.
Well done, Jen!

Christmas isn't creepy. Halloween is creepy. Christmas is happy.

Umm...eerrrr...the "candy cane" looks more like a poo cane. o.0

stalker Santa sitting outside your window:
"I see you when you're sleeping, I know when you're awake......"
You wake up.
"Hi there SantaaAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

Sure that last one's supposed to be Christmas themed?

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterClassic Steve

Oh, the horror and the ick factor! Moisturize them all, please! Poor Lady Cassandra is looking rabid.
I was sort of expecting a Silence of the Lambs suit. Thank goodness we avoided that horror.
"Richard Kind" cake is sort of sweetly creepy.

That first one has his mustache on the wrong side of his nose...

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterRafael

... What is the mouth on that last cake? Because while I'm hoping it's a gummy worm, it really just looks like a bandaid.

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterSkatie

That first Santa. I imagine Bart Simpson as a toddler saying "Can't sleep; Santa will eat me"

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMark H

Since I've never watched Dr. Who, that last cake put the theme from "Brazil" in my ear for the day.

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterHairfish

Moisture-ice meeee!

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterChelle

Someone working in the bakery wants cake, but doesn't want to pay for it.
=^-.-^=.... ... .....heh heh

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

Did anyone else notice the last one has 2 small white horns?

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered Commenteremeraldrain8

Oh my gosh, I didn't even notice the misplaced mustache on the first one until some of you pointed it out! I was too mesmerized/creeped out by the staring blue eye dots.

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

I'm glad I'm not the only one that saw Lady Cassandra when I saw that last one.

I'm not sure what two different colors of poo twisted together says candy cane to those bakers but I don't want to find out what else they are thinking of.

That first Santa: "It puts the cookies in its mouth..."

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

@LunaLoud Exactly....Kind of....
:/

December 22, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterJinx and Moshow

Oh man that Santa with the creepy stare.. has me wanting to run and hide lol. Somehow the lyrics he knows when you are sleeping.. have me staring back at that thing in fear lol.

December 23, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Did anybody else notice that the final "face" cake looks as if it has tiny little reddish devil horns at the top? Not poking off of the cake, just near the top of the border. *shudder*

Also....MOISTURIZE ME!!! Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought of Lady Cassandra. XD

December 23, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterRae

Aghh, the last one is "Silly Monsters," hahaha! My least favorite design from our new book at work. Yet, people keep ordering it... probably because they know I don't like doing it ;)
