I was so amazed by that "carved" design that I almost missed the teensy tiny mice. DON'T MISS THE TEENSY TINY MICE, YOU GUYS.

I love the initials carved in the "birch" tier - so perfect for a Fall wedding! And you'll never believe this, but the apples are made of rice crispy treats. SERIOUSLY. (How you like them apples?)

I can totally see my daughter pinning one or more of these cakes in her wedding file. ;) Those are so well done.
I would like to have the owl one! NOT to eat, of course. I'd dig out the dark-brown middle part, leaving the lovely, white filigree "casing" with the tree, etc. I'd let it sit and get so dried-out and stale that it'd be like bisque. Then, I'd use it as a pillar candle holder. The light would come through, and it would be so lovely!
our windows are tightly shut because the central heating has been on for two weeks already. go figure: i live about 8000km north of rome (i live in central europe), and rome is just a bit further north than the canadian border. no wonder it's cold already here. so the colorful leaves are all already littering the ground and the trees are wintery and empty. well, thank you for posting a reminder of my view from a couple weeks back - the cakes are geourgous!
Don't forget that we in Florida go from hurricane season, see the changing of the license plates, then go into tourist season.

Hands down my favorite Sunday Sweets in a while- I love, love, love the minimalist tree/leaves, the squirrel, and, of course, the teensy mice. And, just because I'm thinking of it (I've encountered a bunch of sloppy Pinners this week), I really appreciate/admire how diligent you are in tracking down bakers and original links and such like. Thanks!

Holy cow! Living in southern Arizona this post is the only way I'm going to see those beautiful Fall leaves & what a stunning display. It's actually been Fall-ish here for 2 weeks with lows in the 60's...the 60's! That's sweater weather in these here parts! Love the teeny tiny mice! How did they even do that carved look? And I had resolutely decided we were going to skip the pumpkin patch trip this year, & now I wanna go. ;).
I have trouble believing those are CAKES! Absolutely gorgeous - thank you for reminding me why I love October!
If you look closely at that incredible design on the owl cake, there's not only another teensy owl in the top left corner but there's a kitty cat on a branch in the bottom right corner! Owls, kittens, AND teensy mice? What an incredible cake!
I had to write an essay in Spanish about what I love in the fall, and one of the reasons I love it is all the fall cakes on Sunday Sweets!

Let's see, I'll start with the Tulsa State Fair cake, followed by the adorable scarecrow cooky and finish off with the absolutely gorgeous apple orchard cake with the birch tree initials. Which reminds me, hey, zoomom! Where's my kids' cakes?! Joseph had his birthday this past Thursday (Oct 10th) and Grace's was the Thursday before - what gives?! (....just kidding! ;-) Ah, if only all these gorgeous cakes were available in gluten-free and dairy-free AND egg-free...and sugar-free - we have a hypoglycemic in the family now - yay, more weird diets, just what we need...you need a Venn diagram to keep up with this family's eating options, I swear!. Gluten-free, probably not a problem, but everything else-free? Fugetaboutit! Gotta make it myself...and I am *seriously* lacking in the gastronomic talent area...

Hope your FIL is outta the woods...or at least the ICU...Sending prayers your way as well. As much as I like the owl cake, I gotta ask, "What is it?" It looks like a fancy white fence surrounding a giant block of florists' foam, topped with vermin infested pumpkins. What's up with that? More specifically, what is the florists' foam supposed to be?
I'm in the greater Los Angeles/Orange County metropolitan area and the weather is pleasant (although it is predicted that it will reach 90 F later in the week), the leaves are green and firmly attached to the trees. I do not miss fall foliage or cold weather one tiny bit. (Of course, I was raised here and lived in other parts of the country only as a grad student.)
Thank you for featuring a cake from the Tulsa Sugar Show without a rude comment! I see cakes from the show on other blogs every year and they're usually accompanied by, "Tulsa? Like Oklahoma? Did anybody else know that those people knew anything about sugar art? Do they, like, even have indoor plumbing?" *inferred superior hair toss* Or something along those lines.
Apparently, many people forget that Queen of Cake Kerry Vincent, though Australian, now spends a good portion of her time here.
I actually shouted WAIT WHAT and had to scroll back up to look at the apples. Rice crispy treats for serious? Mind. Blown.

Nice cakes. The detail is stunning and I'm loving the textures. Now don't mind me. I'll just be over here pretending that mostly white cake, 6th in line, is buttercream with white chocolate leaves and little cocoa-dusted chocolate truffle acorns.
I am simply amazed that the apples on the last cake aren't real! That's mind blowing! I love fall and there's not one cake on here that I didn't absolutely love!!! Great job!!

I am in LOVE with these cakes! I had a fall wedding in my home-state of Minnesota (yep, "Up North" and on a lake...) and the surrounding trees had beautiful foliage that would perfectly match these leafy cakes! Hmmm, sounds like I need to plan an anniversary bash... ;)
I want all these cakes! Perfect reminders that there is more to Fall than poorly frosted/decorated cakes and sad, squished cupcakes.

well if the person in tulsa who took the picture looked the name of the maker of the item is on the table i can almosot see the card in the picture so here is hoping they might have noticed as it is truly lovely, people from all over the world come to the tulsa state fair sugar arts show as it is one of the best around and if you havent seen it your missing out all the items there could be used for many sunday sweets as a matter of fact it has even been on the food network
oh i have lived up north and in california and in tulsa and all i can say is each spot was nice in their own ways
