What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

THERE WILL BE NO "HAPPY"

Wow. I guess this guy started his celebrating early! He's even looking a little green.

And yes, sorry, dude; I'll quit screaming now.

Oh, but I can't let you go without at least one St. Patrick's day greeting, so here:

Haha, just kidding! This is actually a sobriety test. If all you can see is the word "SMEGHIT" then you should probably stay in tonight.

Speaking of which, you guys are welcome to join me, John, and my Guinness-soaked chocolate chips tonight for a few rounds of our new Supernatural drinking game. The rules are simple: just drink when any of the characters do. We should all be smashed by the first commercial break. ["SMEGHIT!!"]

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get ready for tonight's marathon by salting the doors and windows and finding an iron poker and also learning how to kiss in Irish.

Er, those things aren't all necessarily related, btw.

OR ARE THEY?

(Sam? Dean? Thoughts?)

Thanks to Constance H., Alisa B., & Laura M., who thinks someone may have actually asked that last baker to write, "Kiss me," IN IRISH.

Sadly, the world may never know.

O Jen! Happy Saturday! Thank you for a post today!

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHaiku Joy

Thanks Jen for a Saturday fix!

The first guy looks like how I'll feel after the game.
The decorator missed 4 cupcakes. Couldn't find any more flotsam? curly ribbon?

On the St Patrick's Day theme (but not about cakes) I used to have a button that said, "Kiss me, I'm A) Irish; B) I wish I were Irish; or C) Who cares, just kiss me!" Some Leprechaun stole it, but it was fun while it lasted!
Have a great time today everyone and be safe.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbmbagain803

That's actually a pretty good Oscar the Grouch on the first cake. Though what's he doing on a St. Patrick's day cake I don't know.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJasini

Oh, wow, a Saturday post! Yay! Erin go Bragh, and all that!

Oscar (first cake) must've had about ten too many Guinnesses, huh?

And the second CCC (ptui!) took me several *headtilt*s until I finally realized its supposed to say, "Kiss me, I might be Irish". Although I think "SMEGHIT!" is actually the Gaelic translation for that, right??? Didn't I read that somewhere online? Suuuure I did....

Yay, a Supernatural reference! You keep up with the drinking on the show, don't be surprised when you wake up the next day and find that you spray painted a devil's trap on the ceiling! Hard not to have lots of thoughts of Sam & Dean, mmm!

Argh, now it's Cupcake Wordsearch puzzles? I had enough trouble with cupcake Boggle.
You'd think making 5 lines of cakes with letters on into a legible sentence would be easy enough....

*Happy St. Patrick's Day!*
in green

Random:

"Kiss me" in Irish = Póg mé (poge, like first half of pogo, + may).
"Kiss my ass" in Irish = Póg mo thóin (poge (as above) + mo + hone)
No, I won't (kiss you/your ass) = Ní phógfaidh (knee + fogey)
Yes, I will (kiss you/your ass) = Pógfaidh (pogee)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterM

First one is clearly a snake. Think about it.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNaomi

I thought "smeghit!" meant "Kiss Me!" in Irish.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterFlartus

I often want to call Sam or Dean when I'm looking at wrecks on your blog. Some of them MUST be made by demons... (Baby shower cakes, I'm looking at you!)

: )

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkhek

LOL! Thanks for the laugh, Jen. All I can think of looking at this, is that the decorators were starting their St. Patrick's day celebrations a leeeetle early.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle

Oh Jen...my heart is leaping with sheer, unbridled bliss knowing you're Supernatural fans!! As if this site wasn't enough. You and John have stolen my soul :)

Connacht

"Tabhair 'om pg, is ireannach m"

/"TOO-irr um pogue, iss AY-ron-ock may"/

I'm guessing the squares are letters that didn't translate into english.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJasry

"SMEGHIT" - I thought that was a new swear word from Red Dwarf. lol

Hoppy St Patrick's Day! (imagine cake with Easter Bunny and lots of green eggs on it. lol)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJim Todd

What a pleasant surprise! I always check for something new on Saturdays (usually because I don't know that it's Saturday...).

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAnnemarie

Mom is a fan of supernatural (I've only watched a couple episodes) and she suggests drinking every time they say "balls" for more consistent inebriation.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDragonNightArt.com

Hey, I swear this isn't spam! I checked this afternoon, right before I was going to hit my bookmark for these awesome wrecks and I found an article on MSN about you! http://now.msn.com/living/0317-st-patricks-day-cake-fails.aspx It links to your awesome book, but it should link here instead lol! Happy St. Patrick's Day! I'm off to eat green things :D

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCourtney

Another suggested drinking game for "Supernatural" could be whenever Dean hollers for Sam (especially in the older episodes).

Also-Dean FTW (hot guy, hot car)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAnon Y. Mouse

Dean. Absolutely.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPenny in Texas

If Sam and Dean are coming to your house, I'm coming there too! :-D (one of the times I'm sorry I don't have cable - sighs while waiting for DVD release of new season vids...)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

...and is it wrong that I actually see "Kiss Me I Might Be Irish?" (or is that M-I-6-H-T? Just sayin...)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Yep, that first one is definitely looking a little green...

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie

Love your blog as much as I love Sam and Dean :-) Can't find a listing for a marathon on TV though :-(

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSara

@Jim Todd: It warms my heart that I'm not the only one who, upon reading "SMEGHIT!!", immediately thought of Red Dwarf. And I'm sure that Jen did, too, the little geeky minx.

On a note related to the day, I have red hair, green eyes, freckles, and not a drop of Irish blood. Do you how hard it is to find stuff to celebrate the day yet not proclaim your Irishness? But I do. I still remember the day some years back when I, dressed in green and wearing shamrock earrings, was confronted by a lady who hissed, "Shame on you!" Evidently looking Irish but not BEING Irish was a crime in her book.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Cakewrecks AND Supernatural?! The universe is officially fraying at the edges from being unable to contain so much combined awesomeness

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLis

"Kiss me I MIGHT be Irish"? WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!??! MIGHT be.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCristi

I'm going to go ahead and assume it was "Kiss Me" IN IRISH, simply because it's about 13x funnier! =P

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEllen Lloy

As for the #3 Cookie, look at the sticker... "Fresh Bakery", indeed!

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLaxmom

Wasn't there an episode where Sam and Dean fought an evil leprechaun? Or was I channel-changing too fast?

(If they haven't, they should!)

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEileen

Irish or no, I'll kiss Sam and Dean any day of the year. *eyebrow waggle*

...That made more sense in my head. Ooh, but there *is* an episode with leprechauns!

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKim

Yay for Saturday St Pat's posts!
And, btw, thanks for getting me hooked on back on Supernatural..... I remember watching it in college when it first started, and then I graduated and never watched it after the first season, so yeah, totally hooked! And that would be an awesome drinking game. Thanks for the idea!

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmber

"Kiss me I might be Irish."

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBea

it took my a while to realize that siad KISS ME I MIGHT BE IRISH.. I thought it said kiss me i'm ighet be irish

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAinspooh

The whole thing made me laugh. However I was determined to make out what the words said on those cup cakes so I kept reading until I figured it out. lol

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTerrie

Yay for intentional or not Red Dwarf references! Now the theme song will be stuck in my head all weekend.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLizaLS

Ooh, bonus Saturday post. Thank you!

"SMEGHIT is what Lister would say rather than trying to figure out what the cupcakes said.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterhyphen8

Just don't forget the salt. For the doors and windows, I mean.

March 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBadKarma

I just wanted to let you know that I am totally participating in the Supernatural drinking game...I love it already...but that could be the beer talking :)

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGrace

I wouldn't be happy either, if my St. Patrick's Day cake had what looks like a piece of broccoli on it. I hate broccoli.

Thankfully, we just had cupcakes at work with no message on them.

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

"Cupcake Wordsearch" made me laugh out loud. Thanks CarolineB

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKay

so wrong in so many ways D:

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Superntaural + Cakewrecks = Squeeeeeeee. I love it when my 2 worlds collide. Oh & I agree, definitely Dean but sometimes Sammy ;)

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterlulu

You know, the "wordsearch" cake actually HAS a blank cupcake that could have been between "ME" and "I."

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkayk

OMG JEN AND JON. I love you guys EVEN MORE now that I know you're Superntural fans! It's one of my all time favorite shows. I knew I loved you two for a reason.

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKat

We have the same Supernatural drinking game at our house! Rock on.

March 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJen

The 2nd cake says "Kiss me I might be Irish".
