What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets With Character

It's been a little while since we looked at some of my favorite character cakes, right?

GOOD.

Because lookie:

(By Cake Up)

How gorgeous is this Maleficent cake? Those wings!! And don't miss the tiny little spotted mushrooms, because I love them.

Another one of my favorite characters with huge black wings:

(By this Redditor's girlfriend, who isn't named)

Castiel from Supernatural!

And I may have squealed like the fangirl I am when I found this cake. (I learned that from the pizza man.)

Classic Winnie-the-Pooh never goes out of style:

(By Cake By Annie)

Those soft watercolors are perfect, and I like how Pooh & Piglet look like a 3D paper cutting!

There've been quite a few new kids' movie out this year, like Secret Life of Pets:

(By Sweet Prelude)

Finding Dory:

(By Cakes By Dani for The Dory Sugar Collaboration)

Can you find Dory? :) Also: WOWIE ZOWIE.

And apparently we got an Angry Birds movie?

(By Adore Cake Decor)

Granted, there are no birds on this one, but c'mon. That pig is the bee's knees.

Ah, and another Kung Fu Panda!

(By Oana Maria Ilie)

D'awwwww.

There's a new Pete's Dragon reboot coming out soon, but I'm feeling all persnickety about it, because Elliott is not furry. Elliott looks like this:

(By Tracy's Custom Cakery)

::squee!::

Ahem. As I was saying: THIS IS ELLIOTT.
And I loved this scene where they play tic-tac-toe on his belly. So cute!

I'm used to Alice in Wonderland cakes being bright, bold colors, so this pastel White Rabbit is like a cotton candy dream:

(By Emma Jayne Cake Design)

Look at all that detail! And the playing cards half-submerged in the cake board!

And finally, one more of my favorites who, again, has the loveliest black wings:

(By Alisa Asami)

TOOTHLESS POTTER!

Or is it Harry Toothless?

Whichever, this Toothless/Harry Potter mashup is the cutest thing I've seen all week, and I reeeeeally want that topper for my desk now. It's so perfect! And little Hedwig! AH! ::faints from teh cute::

Hope you guys enjoyed! Happy Sunday!
