What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sports Sense

As many of you have probably guessed by now, I get all my news from the Wrecks you send in. Now, is this:

Efficient?
No.
Current?
HAH! Uh, no.
Entertaining?
Yooouuu betcha.

Case in point: I believe that football-related thing I mentioned before has finally happened. And it's called...

The Superboll?

No, the Supper Bowl. Or...

Super Bowel? Hey, I kinda like the sound of that. Now, all it needs is...

This! Woohoo!

Go, super bowel! Go go go!!

Ok, maybe we should just call it "The Game."

Perfect.

From all this Wreckage, I also know there were two teams involved in "the game."

First we have the Colts, who are big Katamari fans:

(You know, Katamari? The game with the giant tube-head guys? Aw, check out this cute Katamari wedding cake; you'll see what I mean.)

And then there are the Saints, aka "the team with the logo most likely to be butchered by cupcake cakes [patooie!!]":

I think we both get the point here, don't you?

Hey, look, a CCC with appeal!

Yep, that banana is a peelin' from both ends.

Deborah C., Jenny D., Writer Girl, John W., Anony M., Jack O., C.M., & Sara W., orange you glad I only used one banana pun?

Total Flakes

It's the little black dress of the holiday season: the snowflake cake. Goes with everything, easy to accessorize, slimming...

Ok, so the analogy breaks down somewhat.

Kind of like snowflake cupcake cakes! Booya!! Haha!

Yep, every snowflake CCC (patooie!) is unique.
Horribly, hilariously unique.

This one is especially aMAZing:

Sure, it looks more like a cracked windshield than a snowflake, but at least it answers the question: how hard CAN you make it to draw a snowflake?

In fact, just for reference I had to go hunt down a photo of a real one:

Check fwwdall's Flickr set for more great snowflake shots.

Preeeetty.

Now, Wreckerators, sometimes your snowflake will end up looking like a drunkenly assembled dream catcher. When this happens, DON'T PANIC. Just write us a clue before setting it out for sale.

Perrrrfect.

Of course, some of you Wreckerators still can't resist playing tic-tac-toe on the baked goods, can you? How do I know?

Oh, let's just say I have a sixth sense about these things.

Nicole M., E.S., Kit, & Katherine C., you know what they say: there's no business like snow business.

Today's charity, Child's Play, provides children's hospitals with toys and games in several different countries. Imagine being a kid stuck in a hospital at this time of year, and you can see why this is such a great idea. Some of the toys are given to the children to keep. Others, like game console systems, stay with the hospital for all the kids to use.

Child's Play prefers donations via Paypal (woohoo!) but you can also give via our First Giving Fundraising page.

Want to go the extra mile? Child's Play has links to participating hospitals' Amazon wish lists, so you can buy a toy for one near you and have it shipped directly to them. Check their map to find a hospital near you.
