What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Pretty Much Just Screaming

Is it hot enough yet for ice cream?

Or the floating mountains of Pandora?

That red arrow can only mean one thing.

ALIENS.

How about a refreshing bedroom slipper?

::head tilt::

Or... cotton candy wearing a fedora?

Ohhh, hang on, I know what we need.

YASSS.

This is gonna be great.

John! Bring in the two-scooper!

::sound of rusty wheels squeaking::

ee ow ee ow ee ow

eeoweeoweeoweeow

BEHOLD!

THE TWO-SCOOPER.

This made me scare the cats.

Totally worth it.

Thanks to Cory Ellen, Brianna J., & Sarah N. for inspiring almost as many questions as belly laughs. Why is it all on one side? Why is it outlined? WHY IS IT SQUARE? And dang it all, why am I in the mood for ice cream now?

1) This is a birthday cake for Aristotle, displaying the four elements. The red on top is fire, the white is for the sky, the blue is for the water and the brown is for the earth. The arrow pointing to the split is showing there must be a drought, as the water is separating from the earth.
2) It's a giant Christmas light bulb in the new purple color they use now. The left side is the part that fits into the socket.
3) An upside down house? A bed with a triangular shaped headboard that fell over? Or maybe part of a geometry test where you have to find the area of the triangle and rectangles.

It's all on one side so that they wouldn't have to pull out another color of icing? I give them credit for not writing pink on pink. Much.

That’s not a slipper; it’s a purple light bulb.

Does no one else wonder why the square ice cream's cone is melting?

If you're old enough (like me) you remember square half gallons of ice cream. Which makes that one giant cone. (That's melting.)

The idea of cotton candy wearing a fedora makes my heart happy!

Thrifty ice cream is served in cylinders.

That last one isn't a cake at all. It's someone spreading icing on a piece of cardboard.
