Sunday Sweets Strikes Gold

I don't have a pot of gold for you today, minions, but I *do* have the shiniest, sweetest gold cakes.
(Carrie's Cakes, Utah)
Which are much, MUCH prettier. Not to mention tastier.
These gold drips look like liquid metal! Amazing.
Sometimes you need just a touch of gold to make your cake sing:
(Albena Cake Design, Canada)
Other times, MORE IS MORE:
(Exquisite Wedding Cakes, Pennsylvania)
I starting singing "Shiny" from Moana when I first saw this. Scrub the deck, my friends. Aw yeah.
Did you know dyed pear slices could look like bright peacock feathers?
(Tortik Annuchka, Moscow)
Neither did I!! But I love the contrast of textures here, so gorgeous.
I had to remind myself this gasp-worthy beauty is edible; it looks like gilded porcelain!
(Honey Love Cakery, permanently closed)
Oooh, and check out the sheen on these mermaid scales:
(Maricota Chocolateria, Brazil)
Magic.
Come for the gold honeycomb pattern, stay for the ADORABLE bumblebee:
(Tomima)
I also love the ink drawing on the second tier. So many great design elements!
Dark jewel tones + gold = heaven for our eyeballs.
(I can't find the baker. Help?)
And finally, let's end on a high note (heh) with a completely edible, golden gramophone:
(Cake Story, Moscow)
WOW. Now that is Sweet.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, my friends! Be careful with the green beer tonight, hear? ;)

OMG so pretty :D
I would have to make that bee on #8 into a brooch. 😀😍
Oh, my! As much as I love green (pear slices), the gramophone had me putting my ear to the screen, to hear what was going to come on...(I think it may have been Al Jolson...!)
=^-.-^=
So pretty!! I really like the gold with jewel tone one.
So many favorites today - I thought the mermaid would be my favorite (Ooooh! Chocolate!), until I saw the second-to-last cake; I'm speechless.
I Love that mermaid fishtail!
The ruffled flower on the top of the hint of gold cake is exquisite. It's rare that I click through to the web sites provided, seeing as how I'm not in the market for a fancy cake, but after seeing that, I couldn't resist. Gorgeous!
I just saw a video tutorial about the pears this week. You use crushed blue and green hard candy, like Jolly Ranchers. Sprinkle over pear slices and bake. And, I think they’re lovely.
@juice, I totally agree. That one is just . . . wow!
The honeycomb pattern cake looks like 3 rolls of decorated stacked toilet tissue sitting on a commode. :) But pretty.
These are stunning! The first one made me think of a 50th anniversary party, a celebration of many beautiful years. And oh, the mermaid ‘s scales! Wow!
