What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Like A Bridge Over Troubled Icing

[A group of Wreckerators, some in frosting-smeared aprons, walk on stage and begin to sing...]

When they're leery

Feeling small...

When tears are in...

... their eyes,

Why not buy them all?

All on one side...

Ohhhhh
'cause spa- cing's tou- ou- ough...

[joining hands]

When friends just caaan't beee found!

[soprano solo]

I assure you, that's "Harry Potter!"

[chorus]

Why not pay me now?

I've a fridge full of stubbled otter:

[3-part harmony]

Why not pay me now?

With apologies to Simon & Garfunkle, who we hope will forgive us, and thanks to Liz K., Lynnette W., Paul A., Michelle S., Rachel H., Lexi, C.H., & Katie S. for helping us appreciate the sound of silence.

The second set of cupcakes look as if they came from he salad bar - complete sliced eggs for eyes.

I love your site, visit it every day. Today's post was especially brilliant (and that's saying something!) Thanks.

If you're in the market for a roadkill cake, that last one's actually not that bad...

but why on earth would anyone be in the market for a roadkill cake?!?!

WHAT in heck is that last cake? It looks like a rug? No,, it looks like dirt.
Sort of.

Awwww, wonderful! *sniff*...(a fake tear or two, for atmosphere..).
Now I will have that song stuck in my head like it was when I first got the LP...
The song was the icing OFF those wrecks.
=^-.-^=

Great song! But I absolutely LOVE that roadkill cake. Beautifully made and it even looks delicious. Strangely so.

I was wondering what you were going to rhyme with Harry Potter. Oh me, of little faith.

I mean, that last one is the monster book from Harry potter right?...oh wait, I just scrolled back up and discerned the roadkill. *sigh*

Stubbled otter. How DO you do it? I will never hear that song the same way ever again!

"Garfunkel."

I love sing-a-long posts! I’ll be singing this all day. I have a strong urge to share this with my pop music class on Monday. :-)

Ooooh, the texture of that roadkill cake! ... is a sentence I never ever thought I would write. Or even think. And yet it feels perfectly appropriate. Huh. Life is wierd.

I am totally surprised that the stubbled otter has not appeared as a groom's cake somewhere in this great nation. (Mind you, I am NOT advocating this idea. In fact, it is an AWFUL idea. Do NOT do it!) If it has been done before I do not want to see the photos and I am delighted I wasn't invited to that wedding.

Okay, I'm all the better for getting that out.

Here's a short message for guys:
For groom's cakes of any type or size
If you're trying to make
A roadkill type cake,
Instead just order multiple pies.

How the heck did they make the fur in that roadkill cake? It is extremely well done - although not what I would want to serve!

Thanks! I've had an awful earworm all day, and now I have BOTW instead. A vast improvement.

I'm sorry to say I never listened to Simon & Garfunkle.....funny sounding song though

Hmm roadkill or stubbled otter? I think I prefer your version to my roadkill theory lol.

January 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

I'm not sure about the last one. Is it brilliant? Is if a wreck? I might have to think about it for a while. Roadkill around here usually takes a week to peak.

I love the song parodies...and this one is truly brilliant. :D

Another brilliant post. "Stubbled otter" is brilliant, but methinks the critter is more small woodchuck. Otters have longer tails. Minor detail it is.
