Sunday Sweets: Stained Glass

"Color is to the eye what music is to the ear."
- Louis Comfort Tiffany
What does "stained glass" make you think of? Church windows? Fancy light fixtures?
How about gorgeous cakes?

Ooh la la! So soft and pretty; I love the watercolor feel to those colors.

This cake practically glows, it's so vivid. And I like how the flowers are mirrored in the artwork.

I can't imagine the time it took to pipe and paint even one of these layers, much less four.

These cookies look like sun catchers! Doesn't the blue background look like a cloudy sky showing through?

One of my personal favorites today! There's a great little Tiffany museum here in Florida, and this one reminds me the most of some of his windows there. Something about all those glowing greens and rich orangey-browns... Just lovely.

Both are amazing, but that blue! WOW.

Perhaps more of a mosaic than stained glass, but I'm blown away by the 3D flowers! Such a great design.
And another tile mosaic:

So much detail! Can you imagine how long it would take to place all those tiny pieces?!
These flowers look like they're bursting out of the glass design:

So. Cool.

I take it back; I think this is my favorite. The balance of dark and light, the perfectly blended colors, that butterfly...! It belongs in the Tiffany Museum! Or my belly. One of the two, anyway. ;)
Hope you guys enjoyed! Happy Sunday!

Beautiful, that is some talent!
All of these are gorgeous
Wow! These are all so amazing!
And don't miss that there are two butterflies showing on the last cake. The one on the bottom tier is almost in butterfly camo. ๐
Aw, thanks - this has always been one of my favorite posts. I don't know how anyone could bring themselves to cut into these works of art, especially cake #4.
Beautiful!
The water lily , and the fourth.......and.....all the rest....I would love to have wired for light.
Cake lamps! ...dreamy, no?
=^-.-^=
The Tiffany "look" is so ....*known*!! I love the lines, the pure look....the character!
These really......
......yeah. Edible art.
=^-.-^=
I have loved Tiffany ever since I found out who he was. Such gorgeous cakes! Thanks for the museum reference-next time I'm in Florida I'll have to visit it! I hope the building was hurricane-proof!
OOOOOOOOooooooo! I'd never eat it!
Thank you! The colors, the flowers, the architectural details are DEVINE!
These are gorgeous! I enjoy Sunday Sweets very much! Maggie Austin's cake makes me think of Frank Lloyd Wright's designs, with the different shapes and natural design. Each one is beautiful! The cookies do make me think of sun catchers!
I don't think I could ever cut into any of them. They're way too pretty!
I couldn't pick a favorite among these cakes any more than I could pick a favorite flower in a spring garden. They're all fantastic!
OK, so...maybe the first one. I'd eat that one last. :)
I love this look. Saw a nice Tiffany exhibit this summer in Queens NY: the Neustadt Collection
Awesome cakes!! thanks for sharing
I would love to see some our wreckers even attempt one of these.
