What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Let's See Some Enthusiasm, I Guess...

It's International Enthusiasm Week, and as always, we can DEPEND on our bakers to provide the most enthusiastic...

avid...

go-getting...

passionate...

excited...

and eager...

Uh...

Well, if that fails, at least we can depend on them to add exclamation marks.

Thanks to Jodee R., Jillian L., Janet P., Matt C., Adam S., Anony M., Jessie S., & the thesaurus. Couldn't have done it without you.

You thought nobody loves you,But then you find out Noboby loves you,I do not know Noboby ,But you must because he loves you.

That poor minion looks so sad....

No baby love Minion! Why they do like that? So sad to squash and deform harmless yellow characters. Much better to make cane pretty with jelly rings; that's highly skilled and SO pretty.
Wow. I an sure feeling the bakery enthusiasm now. Rah.

Hooray, I suppose...

I don't think that snowman cake is a wreck! Sure, one of his eyes looks like sperm, his coal buttons are a bit poo pile-ish (at least they aren't brown!), and his earmuffs are shaped like kidney beans. But his expression is exactly how I feel about winter/snow! And maybe the store was playing "Frosty the Snowman" and he learned his inevitable fate. You'd make that face, too.

Yup that feels about right.....

I agree that the snowman cake is the least wrecky. Perhaps he is making that sperm-eye grimacing face in reaction to the wrecks before him. That's all I can imagine it would be.

Oscar the Grouch does not have lips. And he definitely doesn't have huge red lips!

The cake from La Patisserie ... very wrecky!

it's like the cupcake cake is commenting on its own misery of existence.

September 1, 2015 | Unregistered Commenteret

These cakes made me feel so sad. Especially that poor, poor Minion.

I actually like the cake with the gummies, it just looks so done with everything hahaha
I mean, it's a joke to say that's 'cake decorating', but I think I'll save it to use as a reaction image :P

I'm actually quite impressed with that first cake. I assume it's supposed to be Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba. The coloring and "hair" texture is great!

Exactly what is "traditional" about the icing on #3? Have CCC's become so ingrained in our declining culture that they can be considered traditional? Does the word "traditional" refer to the green "laurel leaf wreath of despair"?

Poor Raphael looks like he's been hit in the head one too many times.

September 1, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRoxy Random

I didn't think that it was possible to mass up a minion cake. I guess nothing is safe from a wreckinator!

September 1, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterIsolder74

whoopie.

September 1, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterZippy

I love the troll hair on the Epbot-bot!

September 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJanaH

Lol looking at these cakes the expressions were priceless. Wow. That poor melting minion though...

September 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Prompted by her mother, the girl said to the baker, "Give me the head of Raphael on a big plate!"

September 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterEoin

NOOOOOOOO! That poor little melted minion...

September 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSquirrel

and there was much rejoicing. yay.

What people need to do is put the details in parenthesis, as in (do it in white icing and please oh please for the love of god don't put anything in the parenthesis on the cake). In a best case scenario they'll know what parenthesis are. In the worse, they''ll put in (do it in whte ice and peas peas for the lov of good don't put anything in the parent thesis on the coke).
