What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Cake Mix-a-lot

In honor of Mutt's Day, and the Dog Days of Summer:

I like cake MUTTS and I cannot lie!

No other pastry beats this guy!

When a cake comes out like a pile of doggie waste

Or has Sliding-Frosting-Face

It gets SUNG!

Wanna say "enough"

'Cuz you know that spelling's "Ruff!"

Doggie got wrecked.

Happy Mutt's Day, everyone!

I'd feel like a heel if I didn't unleash a pack of thanks on Heather W., Nicole O., Erin R.., Catherine S., Sara S., Lysa R., & Thomas R. for taking pictures rather than going barking mad.

Sung to "Evelyn"

I don't mind
If the cakes are a little wrecked
Is this a dog
Or a frosted pile of sh*t
So don't wreck cakes,baker man
Don't leave me with this creation

Oh, transformation.
See how little ears turn to
breasts' cancer ribbons.

Perfect!

It should be sung the way Jonathan Coulton would sing it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0e2I1GiNJQ

I sort of like the pug on pillow cake - it manages to get the point across.

The fourth one down looks more like a small frosting avalanche than it does a dog. I hope no one was hurt in the making of this wreckumentary (whole-y shih-tzu)! =^~.-^=

Can I have the dog in that last picture? I would take him home and hug him and pet him, kiss him and squeeze him and name him George...

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline B

The second cake looks like there was a perfectly good dog cake sitting on the counter, and someone walked by with a vacuum cleaner with attachments, and the cake got sucked up through the hose, and this is what came out.

Woff, indeed.

Are those really DOG BISCUIT TREATS on the cake featuring the no - necked , three legged pug-bulldog-Blob ??!!

Is this song by Sir Licks-A-Lot?

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

I know you meant mutts as a reference to dogs...but I'm thinking these are more like mutts Hunger Games style.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSandy

@Caroline B -- I wonder how many got that??? LOL!! We say that in my family, but only among ourselves. No one else ever seems to get it.

How Much Is that Doggie in the Bak’ry?
(with apologies to Patti Page)

How much is that doggie in the bak’ry?
The one with the bright turquoise eyes.
How much is that doggie in the bak’ry?
I bet he’d make quite a surprise.

I must take a trip to California,
And leave my poor sweetheart alone.
If he has this doggie, then he won’t be lonsome
‘Cause he’d probably never stay home home.

How much is that doggie in the bak’ry?
The one that looks like piles of poo?
How can you tell when you train him
Which is the dog or the doo-doo?

I read in the paper there are robbers
Who will come and break into your place
If you’ve got a dog, better hid him
Or they might just steal his face.

I don’t want a three-legged what-is-it,
I don’t want a dog that say “woff”
I don’t want a road kill of frosting
Maybe I should call all of this off.

How much are those doggies in the bak’ry?
These ones that they just couldn’t nail.
How much are those doggies in the bak’ry?
These ones that we’ll have to mark “Fail”?

You haven't lived till you've heard the song sung Gilbert and Sullivan style.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

@Caroline B and Maureen: Oh yes, I got that. Unfortunately Looney Tunes and Warner Brothers cartoons are a bit "passe" however, you can't keep a good cartoon in a dark vault forever, there are SOME that will get it. Never fear, we ARE here. You can't get rid of all of us, even my kids get it! Because I raised them to appreciate the classics!

@Caroline B & Maureen: ~ I got the "George" reference, too! *giggles* I'm thinking that in the "original" source, those exact words aren't even said (but don't quote me on that)! I guess it all comes out in the (dog) wash! =^~.~^=

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

My kiddies are pestering for a dog, but the 3st cake has reminded me how much cleaning up there will be, so... no.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRachel CrazyMum

And they get PAID for that D:

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Five isn't bad. You can even tell what breed it is. And those bones are cute. I can't see this one being a wreck, sorry.

Woff for woof is kinda like Goggle for Google. Opps for Oops. Alot for A Lot. SMH.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSue W.

*giggle* George!

Maureen, have no fear... It is a classic. Squeeeeeeze.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDi F

@Caroline B and @ Maureen. I have a pet bunny named George, so I get it; George does not, he's not a big fan of the hugging and squeezing :)

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCBushLite

@Caroline B and @Maureen, we love that one too!

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAngelaS

When your party clown
provides the cake, check it for
balloon animals.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHaiku Joy

That first cake is very Pedobear-esque....

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterErica

@ Caroline B: You can have the dog PASTRY, but that's IT! Remember what you did the last time I let you touch a real pup--Aw, forget it-you forget everything I tell you!
@ Maureen: *wink* =^~.-^=

My hat's off to Sharyn and mel; I needed the giggles today!

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie

I don't think that last one belongs on here, this is "Cake Wrecks" after all, which implies that a wreck must contain cake to qualify for the site....and can't I see any sign of #7 containing any cake or even a cupcake!!
Maybe there needs to be a new sub-category..."Frosting Wrecks"

To misquote Porky Pig In Duck Dodgers and the Return of the 24½th Century:
"Well, I never....he was all frosting! There was n-n-nothin' underneath! J-j-just fr-frosting on plastic!"

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNerfbomb

Those poor poo puppies just make me sad
Thankfully @mel's little diddy perked me right back up again. Another one for my future grandbaby!
@Caroline B ~ I once had a cat that gave birth to one very ginormous kitten. Like, if it was a human baby it would have been like giving birth to a 3 months old, ginormous! O.O Anyway, I named him George. Mostly so I could hug him and squeeze him and...call him George. :-)

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJodee

@sendingtheclowns What? I never! It just came off in me hand, missus!

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCaroline B

In the words of my 4yo son ass I scrolled down the page - It's a dog-poo-doggy! He knew what it was instantly with no explanation needed.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKahurangi

Great parody as always, Sharyn, but I think the spoken word introduction is essential to providing the cultural insight of the situation so if you will allow me the privilege:

Oh! My! God! Becky, look at that mutt!
It is so gross. It looks like one of those crap piles, friend.
But, you know, who understands these wrecked pups?
We only look at them because they look like a total pile of poo, okay?
I mean, that mutt is just so wrong.
I can't believe it's just so wrecked. It's like out there. I mean [scoff] gross. Look!
It's just so ... whack!

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

@sendingtheclowns: lol...the Depression...not quite that old.....this would have been during the 1950's....
@Jodee: we called it oleo, too.....yes, poo puppies are sad...so glad to be able to perk you up.....
@Stephanie: always happy to provide a giggle when needed.....

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermel

Cakeoverload.

July 31, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPam S.

It's a "Woof" Cake, not a "Ruff" Cake!
