A Failure To Communicate, Part 48

There's something really beautiful about one person looking into another's eyes and saying, "I understand you."
And then the other person being all, "Then why did you write 'Au Caps' on my cake when I asked for it in all caps??"
As you can see, that was not the case.
[sound of pin dropping]
Ahem.
Granted, 99.99% of the time it's "Happy Birthday," but no no, bakers, I'm SURE that's right:
So Hill Birthday, Jill. HILL BIRTHDAY.
For an office retirement party Davis asked the baker to write all the retiree names around the cake randomly:
"No, YOU'RE out of order!!"
Fortunately Davis tells me they were still able to "enjou" the cake.
And lastly, my new favorite cake puzzle! Let's see if you can decipher what it was supposed to say:
What, haven't had your coffee yet?
Ok, I'll give you a hint: After all these years, this baker's days are numbered.
Check the comments if you're still lost; I'm sure your fellow wreckies will be happy to oblige. ;)
Thanks to Leigh B., Jill H., Davis, & Cindy J. for the brain teaser.

On half a cup of joe, I'm thinking 2014...
Sung to "What Does the Fox Say?"
Dog goes woof
Cat goes meow
Fozzie say
"Au Caps? Just, wow."
Jill says "What...
... did they do?"
What's a Hill birthday to you?
The whole pack
Says "boo hoo"
Randomly, that's what they do.
But there's one word
No one knows...
What does the cake say?
*pondering how many people are just waiting for comments to figure out the last one*
Yeah. I'm gonna go get some more coffee.
It's the FRENCH Canadian Red Cross.
Leah Randomly is finally retiring? It's about time.
Anyway, Jill has reached either her 30st or 40nd (or in some cases, I'm not naming names, 50d,) birthday and is, therefore, over the hill. It is her "Hill Birthday."
Check the comments? What comments? No one has commented, yet!!! Who's going to help ME???
Au crap...
I assume it is supposed to say something about a music recital, but what I have no idea. It is funny how recital looks a lot like rectal, though.
Ahem. Wrecky commenters? Help?? On my second cup of coffee, and that last cake's intended message is still eluding me...
Waaaahhh! I'm the first one here and I don't get it! I've read it out loud to myself countless times, and I'm getting nowhere. And why is this important to me? Help a girl out, will ya?
Is it supposed to say Music Recital today? That's the best I've got
Okay, my best guess for the last one is "recital today"--but I really don't know how the wreckerator turned "to" into "2" and "day" into "oly"...
Also love the bilingual wreck for the Red Cross :)
Recital today (2day)?
Donna, what brand of coffee do you use? I don't think I would have ever figured that out, even with the hint.
Holy crap. Donna's a genius. She's probably a pharmacist and used to deciphering doctors' scrawls.
Way to go, Donna!
Zoly = 2014
Yeah- Donna nailed it on 1/2 a cup of coffee-- Recital 2014. Donna, you rock!
I'm going to start writing Zoly on my checks- more fun at the bank!
Recital 2014. Z is 2, o is 0, l is 1, and y is a wonky 4, I guess.
Recital 2014
I never knew that years had a more casual name to go along with their more formal, numerical designation. I'm not sure three month's acquaintance is long enough to refer to 2014 so casually as Zoly, though.
I wonder how these people can breathe... lol@sharyn
Recital 2014 is my guess. Which will scare me if I'm correct - I don't want to start thinking like a wreckie!
What disturbs me most about the last wreck is the lack of a time signature (and the fact that the notes displayed don't make much musical sense within the default key signature of C major) (and the fact that the treble clef sign seems to have grown too big for its staff). But getting back to the time signature: we could deduce 5/8, but the trouble with that is how it's grouped. Is it 3 + 2 or 2 + 3? This is very shoddy music editing, and if the musicians of Recital 2014 can play it my hat is off to them.
I agree with the poster that it should have been 2014 - Z-2, o-0, l-1, y-4.
Recite after me.
I want a cake with "Zoly"
in twenty-fourteen.
I think that the "Zoly" part of the cake was supposed to be "2014."...
Cake 1: This is obviously a French Canadian cake, and the faux pas here is that the baker added the instructions to use capital letters: Au Caps….
Cake 2: A subtle reminder to Jill that she has now reached middle age, and is “over the hill”….
Cake 3: This happens every time that nice Randomly family orders a cake for someone….
Cake 4: And on a final note, I’m not sharp enough to get this, so it was a bit of treble for me and I fell flat…
I'm just imagining people sitting in a conference room and someone suddenly bursts out, "I miss Betty!" And everyone says, "That was ...."
C'mon guys, it clearly says "Recital Zoly". Zoly is the Hungarian word for hooray. The confusion is that the wreckerator left out the comma and the exclamation point which would have given the phrase the desired effect, like so: "Recital, Zoly!" See, it all makes sense now, doesn't it? I think this was the music teacher's attempt at trying to convince her students that a recital is something they should be excited about.
We will miss Betty, Lisa, Tanya, Sandra and Leah randomly. Some days one of them, some days another, some days none and all. You never know which of them will be missed at any particular time!
@Sharyn, that. was. my. favorite. song. parody. EVER!! I also loved Subee's "Au crap!"
You guys are much sharper at wreck deciphering than I am! I NEVER would have guessed 2014. I was too busy reading the musical notes to see if they spelled out a word. (They don't. It's FADGG.)
@mel-That was spooky...
Today's post was funny, but everyone's comments are hilarious!
How do you guys think so well on a Monday???
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ok, we had a very loud disagreement at my house this weekend about that stupid fox song. Now, thanks to @Sharyn, it's right back in my head. I leave for vacation in 44 hours and I really don't have time to bust out the dance moves.
Nice job on figuring out Zoly boys and girls!
I wonder what they sang to Jill at her party. "Hill Birthday" doesn't have enough syllables and just throws the traditional song all off.
As for me, I'm going to miss Tanya the most. I always found Randomly to be a bit standoffish...but then other times, she wasn't. You could never really count on her.
I like to think the Canadian Red Cross does emergency dentistry, and puts gold caps on people's teeth... hence the "Au".
...One of the other explanations is probably right, though.
Well, those names aren't in any particular order, unless you count reverse alphabetical order by third letter...
You guys are so smart! I wasn't getting anything on that last cake! Of course, now we're stuck with the question of if the decorator actually wrote "zoly", or does she just do a super bad job with numbers. Any guesses?
And here I thought the notes spelled something; FAGDA, which could magically turn out to be the anagram for the Musical Society hosting Zoly's recital; Failed Amateur Guitar Dabblers Anonymous.
Zoly? It's LOLY. Laugh out loud, yo.
Dang! Mixed up the anagram; FADGA; Failed Amateur Dabbling Guitarists Anonymous, of course.
Alone again, randomly.
@Sharyn, you're just pure EEE-vil. Like the fru-ITS of the de-VIL. After a solid year of hearing, "...yip, yip, yip, a yip, a yip, a dip doo..." I finally got that song out of my head.
Payback--Wreck's a world of laughter, a world of tears, wreck's a world of hopes and a world of fears, wreck's so much that we share, and when wreck's aren't here, @SuBee says, "Au crap."
I'm loving the music nerds. I doodle on my son's lunches and actually looked up the treble clef so I wouldn't make it wonky. It's been a few years since I got to make music regularly. Another great song, and *snrk* Nyperold. Are you a savant or something? I love what the wrecks fans notice and imagine!
As much as I enjoyed the cakes today, it was Fozzie Bear that made me snort water out my nose while sitting at my desk.
Excuse me while I dry off my laptop.
I also am now thinking Zoly is the wrecker's reading of a cursive 2014, but my initial thought was a name that went reallllllly wrong - Zolly, Solly, or perhaps even Holly.
On that last cake...the more I look at it, the more I'm not buying it that those are horribly scrambled numbers. I think the baker actually meant to pipe "Zoly". I mean, look at the "l". It perfectly matches the "l" in "Recital", which itself is piped neatly. The "o" is done carefully and closed completely and matches the curves of the "a" and "e" in "Recital". No, I think this was meant.
So...who or what is Zoly? Well, a little research turned up that Zoly is a fairly rare (so rare no one knows what it means) name for either a girl or boy, but more often a boy, usually of Italian or Brazilian extraction. So perhaps this cake is for Zoly's recital.
Holy Moly Zoly! (Yeah, like he/she doesn't hear THAT every single d$@n day!)
I don't comment very often. The regulars are just so danged wonderful. Thank you, thank you all. Today you were particularly shiny.
(Probably my coffee has worn off by now; I stopped 5.5 hours ago. And then I went to the gym and then I had a buncha carbs and it probably made my brain gooey, or I'd come up with something clever to express my appreciation)
Donna wins the prize! So....does she get.....cake?
Perhaps it's just a cake in honor of Zoey's recital, and the e just got a little too tall.
Zoey?
I'll give that baker a pass on the 2014/Zoly only because they remembered the I in "Recital"...
Count me in as another one who didn't know wtf(rosting) Zoly was. Now I'm vaguely ashamed, as well as snorting soda out my nose thanks to Sharyn!
It is "2014". The hint is "the baker's days are numbered".......
Sorry, just can't accept that Zoly=2014. It's GOT to be something else. No offense, Donna. ;-)
