Breaking Sad

Friends, countrymen, meth heads.
Today is a sad day. Or a happy day. A day of mourning. Or rejoicing.
What I'm saying is, today is a day of a lot of emotional stuff, and you are no doubt feeling many things of an emotional nature... because of a TV show.
This cake is breaking, Grad.
I myself am blissfully unaffected by last night's finale, since I don't watch Breaking Bad - but I've watched John go through the emotional wringer with this show, and have picked up a few interesting factoids.
Interesting Factoid #1: Sometimes you DO need chemistry after high school.
Just like you occasionally need to know what laboratory flasks and beakers look like.
Interesting Factoid #2: Blue rock candy will never look the same again.
(Apparently this is a sports thing, NOT someone cheering on a pregnancy test result. Pity.)
Interesting Factoid #3: Bald is badass:
Er... usually.
But of course we Trekkers already knew that.
Interesting Factoid #4: Glasses + a mustache = either Walter White or Mike Ditka:
Your move.
Interesting Factoid #5: Mobile drug labs are, like, all the rage this season.
I couldn't find a motor home cake. Just go with it.
Interesting Factoid #6: Violence is never the answer. Except when it is.
Also, flowers make everything better.
Interesting Factoid #7: Pink teddy bears clearly need some kind of protective society:
Ouch.
And finally, while there are lots of great Breaking Bad cakes out there, I think I'll leave you with these fantastic cookies by Mike of SemiSweet Designs - 'cuz they're way too fun to keep to myself:
Oh, and if you're one of the many planning to wear a yellow hazmat suit this Halloween, do me a favor and carry a hair dryer around with you. And introduce yourself as Darth Vader.
Please?
Thanks to Sean P., Wendy M., Charla Y., Lynn G., Mike & Rebecca, Melissa M., D.B., & Sherry L. for being the ones who rock. :)

Sung to "Bad Day"
It was the ending you waited for most
You hoped that it wouldn't be as weird as "Lost"
You're watching your "blue" high fade to grey
The letters from G-R-A-D all slide away
You needed beakers after all
"Go Blue" cake is hitting an all new, bad low
And bald was badass on your favorite show
Sunglasses and mustache work just fine
A mobile drug lab in pink's divine
The gun makes pink bear carry on
Now you've had some Bad cakes
And your feelings abound
Those fantastic cookies should turn it around
You say you don't know
What to watch Sunday nights
You work up a smile 'cause it was a delight
You've had some Bad cakes
'Cause cameras don't lie
No more feeling down as the season unwinds
Here, have some Bad cakes
Here, have some Bad cakes
I have to admit, although I have never seen Breaking Bad (and have no desire to) the cookies are so gosh darn awesome they alone would prompt me to consider having a viewing party. Brilliant!
Yay first comment!
That one bald cake with the greens and strawberries around it looks suspiciously like one of the bouncing heads from Spirited Away...
The cookies are actually cute :D while the cakes make me sad ;_;
BTTF reference for the win! "I am Darth Vader..from the planet Vulcan!"
Thanks for the costume idea.
University of Michigan- GO BLUE! Would have loved to see the cake executed better (extra points for the "H" that is supposed to look like a "G", though), but I'm not picky when it comes to Wolverine fans :-) Actually, it kind of reminds me of the cake I
decoratedwrecked for my High School graduation party...No, glasses + mustache + cigar = Stan Lee.
I never comment, but when you said you couldn't find an RV cake, I knew I had to come out of the comment closet (although this one is a sweet, definitely not a wreck). One of my favorite bands is called People on Vacation and their symbol is an RV. In 2012, they did a concert at a fan's house and the fan had a cake made in their honor and it was AWESOME. The cake was done by Charm City Cakes in Baltimore.

Cake 1: Did that really come from a professional? Or a "professional"?
Cake 2: Thank you for explaining what those things were supposed to be.
Cake 4: The thought of cutting open a "head" and eating it makes me look around for Hannibal Lecter.
Cake 5: It how Mike Ditka looked after watching Da Bears play Detroit yesterday.
Baldy's eyebrows look like bacon o.O
For once, you guys have made me hungry.
@Sharyn, we are being inundated with your rain. And I get to be out in it a little bit. And I forgot my jacket with a hood. Your song is a perfect choice!
Whatever those green things might be,Rileys birthday made them 'ooo'.
1) You simply punctuated the first cake wrong. "Breaking. Bad."
2) Those are clearly Drunk Leprechaun hats. Where the drunk Leprechauns happen to be, I'm not certain, but those are DEFINITELY their hats.
3) Is it just me, or do the random squiggles on the "Go Blue" cake rather resemble unzipped DNA strands? (Which, incidentally, would tend to further confirm its status as a "celebrating a pregnancy test" cake).
4) Is it just me, or does that dude have a small barbel or tentacle sticking out of the left side of his face, just next to his mouth?
5) Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. This is not one of those times. If you get my drift.
6) I'm somehow reminded of the Killer Snitches from "Phantasm". This one is really happy and cheerful, yet deadly.
7) Important Safety Tip: If you don't actually know what a pistol looks like, throw in a couple flowers. No one will notice.
8) That's actually a promotional item for SyFy's latest "themed" movie: The Carebears Meet The Ghost of Sharknado.
I'm having a hard time telling what the 2 spots are in the beards on the cookies.. Fangs?
Guns -n- Roses, perhaps?
Those cookies are superbly done! Brav-oh!
The cakes? Hmm...not so much.
Like you, Jen, I don't watch the show, and neither does anybody in my house. But it's so hip to be dealing illegal drugs and violent (I guess?) that I know all of the images and even some of the character names! But what I wonder is this: Was the finale emotionally satisfying for you fans? I know with hardcore fans and shows like these, the finale is VERY important, so did they do it right?
(P.S. To the person who asked: the white spots on the cookie beard on Walt are his chin. He wears a Van Dyke goatee. The cookies were quite well done BTW!)
I don't know why, but I especially enjoy Mondays on Cake Wrecks. Perhaps the wrecks just look all the wreckier (yes, I know it's not a real word - well, it is now!) after viewing the glories of the Sunday Sweets.
Is cake #3's beard supposed to look like BBQ pulled pork?
The cookies are adorable. I feel bad for that poor pink bear. The severed head is just creepy.
@BADKarma: In the days when they knew how to spell, I would have said Not a chance. Now that they're SyFy, I would not be surprised. Morbidly fascinated, perhaps, but not surprised.
Semi Sweet also has some awesome RV cookies on his 09/26/2013 blog....check them out...
Flowers on the gun cake are ridiculous!
Glasses + Mustache + Cigar = Groucho Marx - recognized him immediately.
haha...love the song, Sharyn. Good to see your sense of humor isn't all wet. ;D
Found a mobile home cake via OffTheRails cakes...

I saw the first promo for this show, about a teacher in a state with awesome insurance who is diagnosed with cancer and for some reason decides to make meth. I turned to the Tiger and said, "If I ever want to watch this show, try to watch this show, or ask anyone about this show, please have me put down." Not on a BET.
When I went through the Atavachron on Sarpedon it was set for 1966, so that's what looks normal to me. Nothing in first run on TV does any more. Thank the divinity for Netflix.
@SaraCVT - they actually did a great job with the finale! After the incredible disappointment last week with Dexter, this was refreshing.
Also - the show really isn't about how "cool" the drugs and violence are - it starts out a bit on the lighter/humorous side but that doesn't last. In the end it was a story about the terrible ripple effect that one man's arrogance has on countless people, including his own family. I'm sure some may think it glorifies drugs/violence... but they're missing the point.
(apologies if I double posted!)
Sad wreaks, as usual. Not a watcher of that (whatever) show, though.. I suppose the connection was funny...? The pink creature was scary.
A Back to the Future reference!!! You rock.
I too am blissfully unaffected thanks to never watching BB. But ANYTHING that results in cake can't be all bad.
#1: It's gettin' hot in here, so melt off all your icing...
#2: Boy and girl pickles (you can tell one is a girl because she is wearing a dress) who got the old school telephone cords wrapped around them as they talked for hours and hours on the phone.
#3: It's like he's trying to speak to me, I know it. Look, you're really [not] cute, but I can't understand what you're saying.
#4: Is it cheese? Is it cake? The world may never know...
#5: Awww, someone found a mate for Cassandra!
#6: It looks like a Hippie UFO.
#7: Melanie E. beat me to it.
#8: The first one to be sent home from Survivor: Care Bear Island
#9: I do not watch the show, but I know of the show. Cookies are fantabulous.
Nice @Melanie E. Very nice.
LOL. BTTF is one of my fave movies.
#2: The flask on the right looks a little NSFW, to me (either that, or I've read too many CW comments).
#6: ptooie!
#7: ptooie!
#8: ptooie!
(It had to be said.)
The detail in those cookies is incredible!
That poor cake in the first picture looks like the person dropped it down a flight of stairs. I can't figure out why that pink bear thing has what looks to be a black hole in its tummy lol. Then again most CCCs are beyond my range of figuring out what the purpose is anyways hehe.
Just being very picky here---I'm a BB fan, and Walt had no beard and full hair when he was in his tightie whities and green shirt.....cookies are beautiful though :)
I just have to say, as a professional cake decorator, the first picture could totally be the fault of customer. I made a wedding cake for a friend, they ended up making all the decisions last minute and I had to buy the ingredients, bake the cake, and decorator after work in two days. I was up until 1 am finishing it and had to be at work at 4 am. They took the cake, I told them they could pay when they were reimbursed for returning something for the wedding. They never paid me. Apparently the bride was upset because the cake slid when they were carrying it. Her sister told me she thinks they weren't holding it straight. So for some reason they blamed me and didn't pay the $50 for the three tiered cake that cost me over $100 to make. I won't bake for friends again.
Also sometimes you tell a customer something won't work and it isn't a good idea. But they pressure you into doing it anyway. And it doesn't work and they blame you. Or you tell them to keep it refrigerated or in cool area and they leave it in the sun and post the wrecked cake pictures on the internet and blame the bakery.
So not fair.
Cake #4 looks like one of the characters from the Guess Who Game... I think RIchard or Bill??
YAY! More BttF!
