Sunday Sweets: You Can't Handle The Cute!

Hi. I'm Jen, and I'm addicted to cute.
What can I say? Sometime I just NEED to see a baby dragon holding a beach ball surrounded by pastel pennant bunting.
(By Choko Late)
Ahhhh. That's the stuff.
(Even the letters are adorable. How?!)
Needless to say, I heartily approve of cutesying up my favorite characters, like Bats and Wonder Woman here:
(By Little Pieces of Heaven, found here)
Cutest crime-stoppers evah! And how perfect are their colors together?
I know some folks find the button eyes on Lalaloopsy dolls a little too Coraline-esque, but I'm completely nuts for them:
(By Jussra Soares and found here - but no website is listed. Anyone have it?)
Squee! Srsly, it's all I can do not to start binge-buying these every time I'm near the toy aisle. And would you look how sweet that quilted pattern is? With the little tape measure and sewing basket and spools? And that fabric name plaque on the wall with the birthday girl's name is super fun.
I think these next two need no introduction:
(By The Cupcake Maker)
...but that's Despicable behavior.
If you're not smiling right now, you should get your emotion chip checked. And is anyone else expecting to see that goggle strap snap back at any second? I feel like I could reach out and twang it, it's so perfect!
So. Buzz Lightyear. Could he be any cuter?
Why yes, yes he could:
(By Don Buciak II)
I will never stop being amazed at what Don can do with just buttercream - NEVER. (Yes, that's all icing!) Think you can't have a show-stopping sculpted cake without fondant? Then hit that link up there and go see more of Don's work - but hang on to your socks.
I've determined there aren't nearly enough Rainbow Brite cakes in the world. Happily Amy here is working to fix that:
(Submitted by Kate F. and made by Amy A-S)
YES. I love her ponytail, and the rainbow stars. Of course, you do realize I'll be spending the next hour searching ebay for my old doll with the crinkly holographic skirt, right? And a Twink in every color, so I can make a Twink rainbow? They'll look perfect next to my Gremlin and Animaniac dolls.
Aw yeeeah.
And now, the cutest knight in all the land:
(By Tal Tsafrir's Cakes)
Accompanied by the cutest dragon, perched atop the cutest castle. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the Kingdom of Cute, right there.
Sure, Hello Kitty is already pretty darn adorable - but EVERY girl looks better with nerdy glasses and a little plaid bow, amirite?
(Submitted by Kristen R. and made by Alena's Sweets)
Speaking of which, I've always thought the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be more fun as girls - haven't you?
(By Little Cherry Cake Company)
And girls who like cupcakes just as much as they like their pizza, too - because those are the kind of teenage mutant ninja turtles *I* want to hang out with. Cowabunga, dudettes!
Er, you may want to cover your ears, 'cuz I'm about lose my adorbz-loving mind over this next one:
(By Chef Sam)
TIGGER!!! It's all. About. That. Tigger. And the balloons. Yes. I want that little Tigger, holding the balloons, on my desk, IMMEDIATELY.
Please? [Bambi eyes]
I'll admit that not all robots are cute, but for every murderous Dalek or Cylon there's a chipper little sweetie like this, just waiting to bloop at you cheerfully and offer to play a game of checkers:
That smile! And his eyes light up!
Well, my friends and fellow addicts, I hope you've gotten your fill of cute Sweets today - but if not, I think a happy little penguin wearing an aviator cap and balancing on a circus ball should do the trick:
[collapses from the cute]
Yep, we're done here.
Happy Sunday, everyone!
EXTRA BONUS SWEETNESS: Our friends Rick and Sasha over at cakelava - whose work we've featured a lot over the years here on Sweets - just wrote a fun book called Extreme Cakeovers:
And even better, they have three copies to give away to you guys! So just comment below to enter, and we'll announce the three lucky winners in tomorrow's post. Good luck!

Uiiiiiii! The cutest thing ever :)! That Pooh cake really makes me wanna be a child again, and bear Pooh to be my best buddy again. Best times ever :).
Just too cute! Wherever do these cake artists get their ideas???? (And I love the book --- I'm sure a lot of people will be turning out awesome cakes using the examples in it.) (We can't all be as creative as these cake decorators are!)
These Sunday Sweets just get better and better! Thanks for including frosting only cakes, I truly appreciate it.
Must. Have. Penguin.
And Minions.
And Tigger.
And... well, all of 'em.
Stat.
"Cute" doesn't usually appeal to me but there are some really wonderful examples of it here today. The Despicable Me cake is my absolute favorite! I'd love a chance to win one of those books, too, so I could try my hand at a little wreckiness myself!
Those cakes are adorable! I would love to win a copy of that book! I need to step up my homemade birthday cake game.
The minions are so adorable. Oh my goodness!
Just in case anyone is wondering, the robot is from Sesame Street. My daughter is 5, and she LOVES him and demanded the cake for her next birthday.
This is him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGbhlU4tGg0
My little ones flipped for the Ninja Turtle cake! too cute!
Those cakes are adorable! My 3 year old just saw these and said, "Look, 2 Minions!" I think that was his favorite. :-)
I don't usually post but I kind of need that book.
Long time follower, first time poster.
Love your blog, Jen & husband of Jen.
You are both totes adorbes!
Thanks for the Sunday Sweets! I love all of them, but have a special place in my heart for the Despicable Me cake. You can almost hear them talking to one another -- it's spot on!!
I'm really glad you're posting some frosting only cakes. I make cakes and I only cover in fondant when people ask for it. I'll still make my decorations using fondant, but hardly anyone likes the taste of fondant. The taste is just as important as the look!
My favorite has to be the kingdom of cute though. I'm a sucker for knights.
I love the Rainbow Brite cake! I miss my doll! I will be hunting Ebay for her too!
And the Girly Ninja turtle cake is to DIE FOR!!!
so cute! would love the decorating book, too!
The two dragons are my favorites----these cakes are too cute to eat! I could not bear to cut into those adorable little creatures!!!
I was hoping for a cute Dalek before seeing the picture underneath the writing. Anyway, here is my comment for trying to win one of the books. :-)
More fondant-free cakes, please! But the non-wrecky kind.
Man, Sunday Sweets are my favorite, and a Sunday Sweets with possible prizes? Fantastic!
Sweet! My kiddos LOVE cake cookbooks!
Love the Mike the Knight Cake. My five year old just saw it and is dying for one now. LOL
It's all so cute I'm gonna die!
Squee! That adorable little Tigger is my favorite also.
Lobe the robot with the light up eyes!!
Pororo!!! That's the penguin's name, and he has a South Korean TV show. All these cakes are super cute!
omg! so. flippin'. cute. that penguin at the end did me in too!
I think the knight may be "Mike the Knight", new cartoon that my nephews love, but not positive. I have to have the Wonder Woman cake, minus Batman tho. Would love a copy of the book since we can't always afford a pro. Good place for cakes in southeast Michigan tho is the: http://parisbakerylivonia.com/ They matched a my little pony cake to my daughters favorite when she was about 5 or 6 I think & did an awesome (no fondant, all frosting) job. Their cakes always tastes as good as they look too.
LOVED the Batman and Wonderwoman!!!
These cakes are so cute
I can't see straight
Is it my birthday yet?
I bet nerdy Hello Kitty knows the date!
I want that first dragon. Too cute!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!
Squeeeee....I need the rainbow bright cake in my life!! Love them all!
Wow. Just wow.
And I want that book! Pleeeeeeeeeeze??
That cake over book looks awesome! My kind of cooking.
I will now have to make a cute dalek cake. Because daleks are adorable.
And also, that book looks AWESOME
Since, although they are wearing skirts, the turtles are still topless, these are either Transvestite Mutant Ninja Turtles, or they are a lot more fun than one suspected.
LOVE the TNMT cake! Turtle Power!
I would love a copy of Extreme Cakeovers! Wonderful!
The red lining under the Hello Kitty cake looked to me like an evil smile....which I find makes Hello Kitty more appealing! Just me I guess.
What an awesome book! I would love to win!
I have to hold in all my sqees so I don't wake up my husband. So cute!!! I really want that Rainbow Brite cake.
Now that's a giveaway I can get on board with!
I just love the Lalaloopsy cake, but I also love Coraline, so the button eyes are no issue here!
I have to vote for Eeyore. That depressed donkey and I understand each other.
Would love a copy of the books to make cakes for my nephew who has leukemia.
I want all these cakes, too cute!
I love sunday sweets and would love to win a copy of the book!
LOVE! This is a great Sunday Sweets today. Cuteness overload! That book looks amazing too!
These adorable cakes were a great way to start the day! How can anyone cut into them? :)
I LOVE the penguin,
The dragon on top of the castle...... Swoon!!!!!
Way. To. Cute.
OOOO pick me pick me! <3
