What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others

Hm. Perhaps we'll need to add "furious" to that list.

Thanks to the friendly, festive, and fearless Laux for today's frosted failure. (See? It's not *that* hard.)

perhaps fat should be fab

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterfim

Maybe they meant "phat"? XD

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKelly

Fantastic!!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commentersariah

Maybe they meant 'phat'? lol

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCuriousMama

well, I'D kill whoever gave me this one!!!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSueP

Wooowwww!!! I can't say anything else but wooowww!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

She's fit AND fat?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSara

I'm thinking what they meant was something more like "phat" than "fat."

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterpajamiam

Maybe they thought she wouldn't notice?!?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMichelle S

Perhaps they thought by hiding it in the corner, she wouldn't see it?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLizzie

Fans Fear "fat" failed "Phat"

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTrevor

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
That's hysterical.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterFluffy Cow

That f word is not allowed in our house! fluffy is preferred

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterFluffy

Maybe they meant PHAT?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGG

But her fat is fit!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJael

A lot of people in the fat/size acceptance community would be totally fine with that - I suspect this is similar.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterHeidi

perhaps they meant "phat."

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterlaura

The friend who ordered this is going to get a face full of frosting. :P
(sorry, this is about as alliterative as I get at this hour...)

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie

I'm also a Renee. and my bday is next week... 0.o

*notmycake notmycake notmycake notmycake*

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterprincesskitty123

Yes, maybe it should. I was wondering if Fit and Fat struck anyone else as funny...

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKaija

Or, you know ... some people are actually fat and happy about it/see it as an essential part of themselves that they're not ashamed of =)

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTinu

No... OMG.... No.... As yesterday was my 30-{mumblemumblemumble}th birthday, 40 is only {bleep} years away... I do hope no-one announces how fat I am on my cake!

EPIC!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

maybe they forgot to add the AL ...?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterchainsaw annie

I think they meant "Phat."

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMaren

Is this definitely a 'fail'? I know some people who would put this on a cake on purpose. Not everyone sees 'fat' as unable to co-exist with such positive terms as 'foxy', 'fabulous' or 'fit' and 'fun'.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGraid

I'm turning 40 soon (well, not TOO soon) and I'm not prone to random acts of violence, but this being placed in front of me might cause exactly that. There are places that it's uncomfortable to have frosting.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTisforTonya

That's some nice sizeism there. Perhaps you've never heard of Health At Every Size?

http://www.haescommunity.org/

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterheelbiter

Or Phat and they just don't get it....

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSammi

Just change the fat to phat. I'm sure it could be done. :P

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterbabird1

I"m OFFENDED by all the comments that think this is offensive!!
What the hell's wrong with being "flirty?"

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSuBee

I read the center of the cake as "40ยข" at first. Perhaps Renee is a rapper who survived getting shot seven times, has two strange and violent video games to her name, and whose output is insufferable and derivative only 80% of the time.

To the "sizeism" people: being comfortable with your body doesn't mean you like being called fat. I like being short, but I don't need to be reminded of it.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNaomi

But if you add "furious" on there, then she would be Fat and Furious! :)

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPixie_Princesse

Funny, flowery, frivolous, fresh frosting. Need more "f" adjectives.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterStephanie

Fair, fertile & flatulent?

I guess Renee is going in to have her gall bladder removed. I've just never seen it announced on a cake before!

My sincerest apologies for the obtuse medical reference.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMr. Cellophane

whoopsies! Perhaps cake writing should be reserved for people who understand the difference between 'fit' and 'fat' and other polar opposites. 'Flabbergasted' would be too long to add t the cake, wouldn't it?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commentershikiblade

If it were me I would be very careful cutting around the 'fat' so I could take a picture of me about to shove the word in my mouth. Probably with a thumbs-up.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterkeelhaulrose

Wait...wha....? Explain?
Was there a story to go with this cake?

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterHayley

This makes me glad we never get store bought cakes. Especially when we're celebrating my birthday tomorrow o_o

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChubbyKitten

Bet she said another "f" word, when she saw the cake.

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermamarox

Just chiming in to say that contrary to some comments, I don't see fit and fat as being opposites, or even one excluding the other. That said, I might personally pitch a bit of a "fit" if "fat" was on my cake!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSammi

The wreckerator was obviously a man. No woman would call another fat on her birthday!

August 18, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRobin

Maybe they meant Epcot?

But, seriously, we all know we'll get fat after eating birthday cake. We don't need to be reminded on the cake itself!

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJabby

Poor Renee had her cake made by her extremely passive-aggressive sister again this year!

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterPummie

I think whoever designed this cake needs to watch Gordon Ramsay's "The F Word" more often for inspiration.

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

A missing "L"? Renee is FLAT? No, that's no better ... ack ...

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRev W

Phat is the new way to spell Epcot.

I'd be furious if someone put "Flirty" on my cake, too.

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMimiheart

Makes me worry about what I am going to get when I turn 40. Because if they put that on my cake someone would be running for the hills lol. At least they didn't say she's old on it.

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

Well after getting depressed and eating the whole cake she will be fat...

August 19, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

I can think of much worse F-Words they could have put on there!
