What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Jen's Mom Writes a Post

And now, a note from Jen's mom:

Hello.

Jennifer tells me I have to use the funny cake pictures.

[You're doing fine, mom.]

So.

Are you coming to Jennifer's little book parties? She's been working so hard on them, even though I told her that probably nobody is going to come.

But I told her, I said, "Just because people don't want to see you doesn't mean you're a failure. Maybe everybody's busy! Maybe they're at their mothers'! Who am I to say? What do I know?"

All I know is that all of my friends already have grandchildren.

It's hard for me to tell them that my Jennifer apparently doesn't love me enough to give me grandbabies.

[Mom! This is not the time.]

Fine! Fine, I'll change the subject.

So, I remember Jennifer's first period...

[WHAT.]

What? I'm telling a story! Well, anyway, she cried for days. It was terrible. And the clots...oh my goodness...

[MOTHER!!]

Okay, okay! Well. If you blog people aren't visiting your mothers on the night of Jennifer's little party, maybe you could go. Who knows? It might be fun. And if not, at least you'll know you did something nice for my baby.

Oh, and also:

Wait. That's not the right cake. Jennifer, sweetie, how do I put up the "Thank You" cake?

[Don't worry, Mom. I'll just put that in later.]

Thanks to Erin B., Kelly W., Ryan H., B.I., Anne S., and Jen's mom, who would obviously never write something like this and is an awfully good sport.

I love the Hella cake! Wait, you mean it's supposed to say Hello? Nope, don't believe it.

Oh wow. And just after recovering my hearing from the "8.2 months to grandchild SQUEEEEE!!" my Mom did when my sibling made the announcement.

And yes, I also heard music when I saw the first wreck!

My mother and I live together and every time we see a show with a mother like that I turn to her and say, "you know I love you, right?"
She just says, "yes," and smiles.

@Dark Lord of Marketing- you should definitely start videotaping EVERY conversation with your mother so you’ll catch that “Hallmark moment.” Bwahahahahahahahahaha

Do I see the side frosting on the "hello" cake sliding down the sides? Even frosting doesn't want to be near that cake.

Jen's mom,

Jen is a nationally renowned blogger, a pioneer of found-content. You will be glad that she has her career to fall back on after kids.

Also, mentioning blood clots really crosses the line. Gag.

Mrs. Jen's Mom,

Cake2 - Harry's lightning bolt scar is supposed to be on his forehead, not under his nose.

Sadly we won't be able to attend Jen's little parties, we live too far away
(3200 km, -that's 2000 mi. for non-Canadians)

Please tell your daughter to remember her passport. We don't want her to miss out coming to Canada.

To our fellow Canadians, we say, "Gooble, Gooble";
Happy Thanksgiving!

Ahh I have never laughed so hard as I have tonight. Thank you Jen's mom lol. Reminded me why I avoid family reunions especially ones with people that knew me as a teen ahh the wrecks they could make on that.

My mom is on my FB list and posts stuff like this on my wall. It's all I can do to keep up with her and hide everything.

Oh, maybe I should have posted this on PostSecret... ;-)

CLOTS! ROFL!

So when will the event be in Columbus... Ohio (The only Columbus that matters btw). It is okay if you have forgotten about us, many people do, even though we are bigger than Memphis and a bunch of other cities on that list.

Dear Jen's Mom,
Can you answer me a question? (that wasn't the question btw) I was planning on going to one of jen's little book parties but the one for Memphis TN is no longer on the list. Is it canceled? (that is the question)
Thanks,
Marianna

This soooo sounds like my mother. And I would totally come to your book party... if there were one within an 8-hour range of me. :(

*bursts out laughing* That was just awesome. Just completely awesome.

I think the baby-nag is a universal thing. No matter who you are, no matter what your situation. My mom nags me even though I'm gay...

Love the cakes. Especially the sad little pink face.

This post made me laugh so hard in my head the other day! But quietly... I didn't want to get kicked out of the library.

My mother would have wrote something JUST like this IF NOT worse. LOL.

Well Mrs. Jenn's Mom, what about bringing mom to the little cake party? Instead of visiting my mom, she and I will be visiting Jenn together! Yay! :D
