For Steve

I like to think this would have made him chuckle:
RIP, Steve Jobs 1955-2011
And thanks to Anony M. for the "apple computer."
[Typed on one of our three Macs, by a proud owner of more Apple products than I'd care to list.]
A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Thanks for this post.
Thanks for everything, Steve.
Thank you for this. It's the first cake on here that made me cry.
Thanks for the post. And thanks, Steve, for everything that you've done that I can barely wrap my mind around.
*typing this on a MacBook*
Aww. I regularly read this blog from my Macbook or an iPad. Where would we be without Steve Jobs?!
Thanks for this Jen. We have 3 MacBooks, an old Mac desktop, 3 iPhones, an iPod, and a huge appreciation for Steve's amazing life and work.
Thank you, it's wrecktastic. And yes thank you to Steve Jobs. What a huge impact he made on the world. RIP Steve
Once you go mac, you never go back. *hugging all my mac devices*
Great post idea :)
This definitely made me chuckle. Thanks Steve for your innovative ways. RIP.
I don't own any Apple devices. (Well, except for my wife's iPod Touch which her parents gave her when they didn't use it anymore.) Still, Steve changed the computer world in so many ways that the non-Apple computer I'm using today wouldn't be the same had his life taken a different path. RIP Steve.
Heh... we had an Apple IIe when they first came out, and, actually, this is kinda what it looked like. Except that it wasn't brown.
2 macbooks, 1 imac, countless shuffles, 2 ipods, 2 iphone 4, 1 ipad. I hear ya Jen. The world lost a visionary icon.
RIP. Thanks, Steve, for giving us tech that isn't beige.
'My' first computer (aka, the one the family replaced and dumped in the basement until I grabbed it) was a Mac +. At age ten, I could type faster than it could bring characters up on the screen. I was very proud of myself.
Since then I've become a penguin fanatic, but that's a different story. ;-)
The world is a better place because of you, Mr. Jobs. Thanks.
LOVE the cake. Even when you see it coming, it's hard. Thanks for the laugh
From yet another MacBook owner, who has passed the love of iPods on to her daughter.
All that can be said is: iSad.
*tear* Perfect post for Mr. Jobs. :)
Thanks for the tribute to a man so many of us came to admire.
RIP
:'(
The saddest part for me is that I was so busy today that I found out about the death of Steve Jobs on Cake Wrecks after midnight instead of through the news. Great man, great leader. Sorry to know he is gone.
Thank you, Steve. I, too, am hugging all my mac devices. My brother died 2 yrs ago from Pancreatic Cancer, also. It is one of the most painful cancers. It is vicious. My heart goes out to Steve's wife and family.
Thanks for this Jen. Typed from my iPod Touch, while trying to convince myself that I don't need the new iPhone. I think Steve would have laughed. RIP :(
These days I usually view CakeWrecks on my iPad or iPhone, right after I check my email, and don't usually think twice about how marvelous it is that I'M COMMUNICATING WORLDWIDE FROM A HANDHELD DEVICE. Really, that is a modern-day marvel, and we take it for granted. Thanks, Steve.
Nice post, Jen.
RIP Steve.
Is it wrong to type "RIP Steve" while typing on a PC?
Whatever. Proud PC here, but I'm not heartless, so...
Rest in peace, Steve Jobs.
I still miss the Mac I had in the eighties (you never forget your first love,) and can't believe how much I depend on my iphone. Many thanks to a man who truly changed how we live.
Thank you for this. It really shows me how much Steve influenced people by the response his death has gotten. I personally was very surprised and sad to learn of his death, but I know he will live on in the companies he helped start and I can't wait to see what new products and cartoons come from them.
Thank you, Jen.
Thank you, Steve. The world will miss you.
A great innovator and a brilliant mind. What a legacy he left behind! It's sad to see him leave so young. You will be missed Mr. Steve Lobs.
wow ... i never would have thought to frost my cake like mac... cool.
RIP Steve Jobs. you brought the world some cool ideas and really cool stuff.
Thanks for sharing, Jen and John
iSad, too. You changed the world, buddy, and that's the truth. I expect you're designing iHeaven already, and getting ready to launch a whole new take on CloudWare. Thanks for everything, Steve.
Thanks to the iPhone, my entire life fits in my back pocket --friends, movies, tunes, radio, calendar, games, books, newspapers, internet, flashlight...oh, yeah, and the ability to phone home. It's the first electronic device that I ever felt I wouldn't be able to give up and still be happy; it has saved my sanity for thousands of hours stuck in hospital rooms with my kids (their sanity, too!). RIP, Steve Jobs. You've certainly made my world better.
Love the cake. :) I became an Apple fan in 1978 when my family got an Apple II+ (which still works). My life was made so much better by Steve Jobs and the people he inspired to create so many glorious things. I will miss all his enthusiasm and new ideas. R.I.P. Steve.
I just noticed the USB cable coming out of the back of the cake. Just makes it that much better.
I'm a PC user but I have an iPod and I know so many other devices are based on Steve's ideas. The man was brilliant and we'll all miss his genius.
RIP Steve
Aww RIP Steve :'( and yes, he would have laughed
I am inexplicably sad over his passing.
RIP Mr. Jobs.
Aww RIP :'( and yes, he would have laughed :')
Wow, Looks like the ninja deer got to him first.
Wow, how sad. Sad for those who knew him, and a great reminder to us all of how fragile life is.
Amazing that a college drop-out could start a multi-million dollar company from his garage without a $500 million+ hand-out from the government. How did he ever THINK of those things, and then bring them to fruition? It just boggles the mind! RIP Steve Jobs, and thank you!
RIP Mr. Jobs. Thank you for all you've done to make our lives more organized and fun.
RIP Steve Jobs.
Written from a member of a family that owns: 1 MacBook Pro, 2 iPhone 4s, 3 iPod Nanos (one 3, one 4), 1 iPod Touch, 2 iPad 2s, 1 Apple TV.
He was an amazing person. All computers and phones have been changed because of him, no matter what brand they are.
He changed the world with a garage start-up. How many other people can say that?
That's not a badly rendered apple (lower-case "a") but a horrible Apple! At the very least, they could have used the vintage rainbow apple logo. I gotta say, though, the general shape isn't too far off from an Apple II. It had that undersized-looking integrated keyboard. The color is wrong though. It should be puke bisque, not poo brown. It also (usually) wasn't surrounded by rabbit turds, but it was fugly! It was also my generations first real contact with personal computers. I didn't have one, but I knew a lot of people who did.
Not an Apple/Mac person myself, but I do respect the innovations Jobs and others like him have created.
"Lovely tribute"--MacBook Pro
"Nice graphics"--iPhone, iPod
"Cousin George!"--Mac IIc (yes, it still runs-very slowly)
Thanks, Jen.
Very apropos choice. Steve would have definitely approved...then he would have unveiled the 2.0 version with sparkling candles and self-slicing interface that delivered virtual cake directly to people's apple-shaped plates.
Written from a PC -- but the first "real" computer I ever used on a regular basis was the old box Mac...and I miss that little baby.
Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs.
I have been unbelieveably sadden by this loss, so this post was a welcome chuckle. I have been an Apple fan for most of my life and the other day we tallied up our household's current devices:
3 Nano iPods, Gen 2 (pink, red, white)
2 Nano iPods, Gen 3 (pink, red)
2 iPod Touches, Gen 1 (deemed "ghetto" by the teenagers)
2 iPod Touches, Gen 2 (hah! not all that fancy after all!)
4 iPhone4s
iMac
Mac mini
MacBook
MacBook Pro
Airport
AppleTV
Thank you Mr. Jobs for all of the above which have enriched our lives immensely.
