Yes, I saw Teenage Mutant Turtles in the theater, as a teenager (barely) but without my mother. Scooby was awesome. That Backyardagains cake was sweet. My kids love that show and it is one that my husband and I enjoy watching with them- as opposed to the shows that make us want to run from the room screaming, which we mostly don't let them watch. Love the details on Homer.

I saw the movie in the theater, with my mother. And then went to the bookstore afterward and bought the novelization, which I immediately read. And reread multiple times over the following years (there's an extra scene in it that was cut from the movie).

Saw TMNT in the theater, as a teen, with my whole family. Later purchased the cassette single of "Turtle Power" by Partners in Kryme. Played frequently while doing homework or jumping on the trampoline.

I can top that! I was obsessed with New Kids on the Block (during the Ninja Turtles golden years) and went to the NKOTB laser show at the science center with my dad and little sister and her friend as a teenager. Sad...
I think this was my favorite Sunday Sweets yet. So many memories! Love the Futurama and Homer cakes!
You definitely have to check out Yo Gabba Gabba sometime. It's really trippy and goofy (and some of the characters look like adult toys) but the songs are cute and catchy.
The Turtle Cake? Honestly when I saw that..yes its well done..yes its well put together...gorgeous but...I think it needs to be put in the wreck area. Let me put it this way..you are a kid. You see the 4 turtles..with no arms, no legs...and their weapons infront of them laid about in a vaguely ready to eat sorta fashion..with plates (the white things at the bottom).
Like I said..I saw that and thought this musta been a 'wreck' day heh :). Maybe there should be a 'beautiful wrecks' day. All the nice and well done cakes that...are still freaky :P.
SueBee, I'm with you. Hence I saw the TMNT movie as an adult in the theatre, with my boyfriend. Yikes. These cakes are amazing.
My son would think he died and instantly went to heaven if he got the GIR cake for his birthday...he LOVE LOVE LOVES GIR! MUST OBEY THE TACO MAN!!!
That being said, they are all so gosh darn cute!
My husband and I saw the TMNT movie in the theater as grown-ups (albeit youngish ones), without bringing any children with us. We were the only adults without kids in the theater...

yo gabba gabba isn't a cartoon. it's a bunch of people in ridiculous suits. and it's awesome--if you want your baby who is too young to be watching TV anyway to have no brain anymore.

I saw TMNT in the theatre as a teenager but I was with my Dad.
The Backyardigans cake is adorable but my daughter was all over the Yo Gaba Gaba cake (she may be the pink one, Fufa, for Halloween)
My favorite has to be the Futurama cake though. I love that show.

I'm sorry, but the Simpson cake just looks like the whole thing is made of Playdough. Well made, but inedible.

I gave a copy of the Cakewrecks calendar to my local baker. He was puzzled at first, but soon the entire bakery was convulsed with laughter. I think you have several new fans.
What is most interesting about these cakes is the different ages they seem to be made for- I can't believe that the gummi bears cake is made for someone so young (does it say 5?). Do they even show it on TV anymore?
I was sincerely impressed with the TMNT cake- there have been a rash of Halloween costumes of TMNT in the last few years. I'm always happy to see a blast from the past- but no one ever includes Splinter (my favorite character) or Tokka and Rahzar (who I think are freakishly adorable for some odd reason)

The cakes are awesome (Homer especially) and I agree with Clara about Yo Gabba Gabba. I don't even let my kids watch it after seeing a few episodes though they still seem to know so many of the songs....no no no NO...oh great now I have a song in my head... "Don't...don't...don't bite yer frieeeeends!"

I had a flashback to the great Dueling Disaster Wedding Cakes Debate of '10, and had to laugh about the wedding cake in this group. I'm all about sci-fi. However, the spaceship cake, along with your commentary, made clear the double standard of what may be considered tacky. I think someone said (on the other post) something about wedding cakes being cool if they represent the personality of the bride and groom....
Yeah, I know it's all in fun....Just sayin', is all.
While cute, most of these were lost on me. I grew up on the cartoons of the 50s and 60s. (Crusader Rabbit anyone?) I've heard of TMNT and Scooby Do. I only found out that there was a Gummi Bear TV show when it was mentioned here a few weeks ago. I have watched the Simpsons and I've been forced to watch a few episodes of Futurama (for which I do not particularly care), but I have not ever heard of any of the other shows. I guess I'm old and I have no children/grandchildren. Life is sweet!

The Backyardigan cake is too adorable. I think it should be hidden from the eyes of all preschoolers, because it might make them want to watch the show. The show is the only kid's show I simply cannot bear to watch- the constant country singing drives me insane!
LOL, not only did I see the TMNT in theatres (I was way younger than a teen, though) I have them all on DVD. And watcht hem constantly. Love that cake!!

OK, Jen. This is at least the 2nd time you've posted Yo Gabba Gabba cakes, and you still haven't watched it? Do yourself a favor and spend 20 minutes of your life watching one of the most bizarre things you'll see on TV. Especially try to catch the episode with Jack Black. Pure awesomeness.
Yo Gabba Gabba is, without question, the most irritating show ever made on or near tv.
But on the other hand, the original TMNT and also Futurama are brilliantly brilliant, so I guess that balances the post out :)
I'm too old to have gone to the movie, but when I spent nine months in the hospital, TMNT was one of my favorite shows.
