What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Royal Wrecks

Princess-themed balloons, tiaras, and party favors: $54.00.

Special appearance by I Can't Believe It's Not Disney!©'s Princess Bimberella: $134.99.

Misspelling your daughter's giant hot-pink birthday cake:

Priceness.

Eh, it could be worse... I guess...

Say it out loud. It's fun! "PRY-ness."

See?

(P.S. In the future, I'd like to be referred to as Priness Number 1. Spread the word.)

Because you're never too old for the "magic:"

I wonder if that's royal icing.

At least here they spelled "Princess" right...

...but you do have to wonder what happened to the first 10 Princesses.

We bow down to her royal highnesses, Rebecca B., Ciere O., Heather, and Priness Nicky. These cakes rule! (Say, is the plural for highness "highni?" 'Cuz if it's not, it should be.)

Cake #1 - corneas burned - call 911

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTricia L

This is why there should be no princess cakes.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFluffy Cow

How is it so hard???
How?
HOW?
Spell prince.
('P-R-I-N-C-E!')
Add a double S
('double S!')
What's that spell?
'PRINCESS!'
Pipe it again!
'PRINCESS!'
*takes a deep breath*
Thank you.

Hmmm...11th Princess. Wonder if that's in relation to the Eleventh Doctor...

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJim Todd

I'm definitely making that last cake for my little sister come her birthday... it has her name on it! Even though she won't be eleven... and doesn't like princesses. It just makes it a perfect wreck.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterellemck1

Just so sad lol

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLauren Borquez

Is it my imagination, or is the first cake actually A CORRECTION??? ::squinting:: Hard to tell in all the hot pink....

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commentertessler

More importantly, why were even the 10 previous princesses named Chloe? I read that as they are ALL named Chloe, which is just wrong!

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTrevor

The heck is that ugly blood red border on the first wreck? Was the princess cooked INTO the cake?

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterIndigo

My 25th birthday cake from my daughter and husband was covered with those light up princess's. My cake was much prettier but those light up butt princess's look much better spinning on the floor with the four year old.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFirefly

Or perhaps, ala today's strange names, those kids really are called Priness and Priscess. Weirder things have happened.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterHalf Assed Kitchen

Lame, just lame.
Norine

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Did someone pee on Carmen's cake???

And maybe Priscess was supposed to be 7 and they "misspelled" 7th as 70th? either that, or this old lady's got some ISSUES.

Maybe Chloe was one of the 12 dancing princesses. or 11th kid in a big family.

These cakes are just PRICENESS!

(Jen, you're really accumulating quite a new dictionary. You should assemble some of these new words into one spot for reference :) )

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjo

What happened to the other 10 princesses? Clearly they regenerated.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMegan F.

People bought these?
A pox on princess anything and their wreckerators.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

*grins* Cinderella's panties are glowing...

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

The setup made me actually laugh out loud when I finally saw "Priceness." That was fun.

Like jo, I wondered if the Priscess was someone name Priscilla. But I doubt it. Maybe she's a Pisces, though.

My WV today is "spewip." Yeah.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterGoueznou

Priscess?
That must be like an abcess, except, you know, prissier.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterGary

looks delicous!

Chloe is apparently the 11th princess of her country with that name - "Chloe the Eleventh".

Just like "Henry the Eighth" or "Elizabeth the Second". Yeah, that's it...

It would certainly give a new meaning to "sitting one's royal highni down".

Also, these cakes (along with ... well, most of the site) have degraded my already quite low faith in humanity even further. The next batch of Sunday Sweets cannot come too soon for me, as they never fail to restore a little hope.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterChris

Highni - pronounced hiney.
heh heh *snort*

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterElly

What did the seventy-year-old do to deserve this big ol' wreck? Misspelling, loads of blank space, airbrushed cake around half-buried figurines, etc., etc. I think I'd rather be sent out on an ice flo.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKim

No, no, no....the 11th Princess's name is Kathleen, not Chloe. Don't you people pay attention when you watch your poorly adapted, computer generated Barbie movies?

"I wonder if that's royal icing."

Bah-Doom-Pah! That pun is Priceness!

WV - ondcac - The wreckerators should try to correctly spell "princess" ondcac.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnne-Marie

I sure hope 'Bimberella' covers ALL the Disney's Princesses'. OH, and leave the cheesecake underling.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterStella

We HATE the first ten princesses.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMatthew

you know why I love blogging - because 3 minutes ago I was brought to tears by a sweet but sad post and then VOILA - I click over here so that I can LITERALLY laugh out loud... "highni" got me cracking up enough that the kids came running :)

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterT

Royal Cake Wrecks?
I think all of the Canadian fans would feel as though this was wonderful timing, since Queen Elizabeth just dropped in for a visit here for a few days!

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKat Parsons

Good for Chloe; being the 11th princess is always good luck!

And at least at 70, Priscess may have left her glasses off and not *noticed* the abysmal spelling on her cake...

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterErin Kelly

When you get past the light up panties on Cinderella, the celebration for the "prisness" and those 2 weird orbs on either side... what is the green doing on the bottom??? It looks like they started to attempt flowers (like those on the top) and said "aw heck, she's 70, probably cant see it anyways!" and just sort of left the green loveliness behind....

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKatie

Please shoot me before giving me a princess cake at 70. Or any other time.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBecky

plural of HRH is TRH ie Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall. Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. Its the same for two Princesses or two Princes.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterdiddleymaz

Dear Priness Number 1, I think what happened to the other ten priness' is that they ate some of that cake.....

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterpriness # 12

These remind me of the cake my best friend got me for my 20th birthday. "Happy Birthday Quenn Ashley"

What can I say, the catering staff at the university was.... creative? Just because you work at a university doesn't mean you have to know how to spell. I wish I had a picture to send to you now.

-And look, my word verification is "therd". As in "Happy therd Birthday"?

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

@Katie! I was coming here to post the same thing. WTF is up with the green things?

Also, why'd they airbrush the bottoms of the dresses on those plastic Disney princesses? I mean, what's the point? Decorator just got a new airbrush?

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAngel P

highni! hah hah hah

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterErika

Poor Pricess,

At first I thought that the colors of the icing on her cake had run and that was why there were puddles of blue, pink and yellow on the cake. Then I realized that was intentional airbrushing. But why? Because it's pretty??

All of these princess cakes remind me of when our supervisor told us a new employee named Poinsettia would be joining our group. Everyone thought that was an unusual name. Turns out the boss misread read the memo from human resources. Our new employee was Princetta. Said supervisor may have a future as a wreckerator.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSiouxzr

seriously?!?
tessler said...

Is it my imagination, or is the first cake actually A CORRECTION??? ::squinting:: Hard to tell in all the hot pink....

i looked at the big picture and i think you are right it does look like a "correction" think that makes it even worse.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterkmawesome

If yesterday's cakes serve as excellent reasons not to get pregnant (or to be VERY careful about who you choose as friends!), then that 70th birthday cake is a good lesson in saving for one's retirement so you can afford decent birthday cakes!

Like the "priceness" :)

And... my first thought about Chloe was that the first 10 got beheaded. And Chloe's future isn't so bright if the cake they got her is any indication. I think this blog is further warping my already warped sense of humour!!

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAliza

Sometimes I click on post a comment just to see the wv. Mine was culhake.

Parent: "I want a really cool cake for my child's birthday."

Wreckerator: "Got it. Culhake."

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJessica

Okay, those made my day. 11th Princess! (guffaw)

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

HELP!!! Someone dumped a whole bottle of Pepto on that first cake!!!

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Since you'd like to be referred to as "Priness Number 1" can I be titled "Your Royal Priness?"

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

"Highni" ? Yep. It's more goodlier that way. Heh.

11th Chloe has me with an earworm of "I'm 'Enery the Eighth I am... 'Enery the Eighth, I am, I am..."

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterQuay W

the glowing panties and appearance that Cinderella is melting is part of a kit. We've seen it wrecked here before. The yellow and pink off to the side are Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I did a search, but I couldn't find it.

I'm choosing to believe that that particular cake was made for someone named Princess. Or Prisecss.
And that it was ordered by her 5-year-old Great-Granddaughter.
Who told the wreckorator how to spell "Princess"

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercorianne

Priceness = Priceless.

Rock on.

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered Commentersneece

Hmmmm when I was eight years old I insisted that the correct spelling of my dog's name was "Prinses". Perhaps these "Princesses" got to decorate their own cakes......

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I think the plural is "highnesseseseseseseses."

June 29, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMama Martinez

Love the pink cake!

XOXO,
