It's Me or the Dog: Cupcake Trance

Funny story: this is exactly how I look when John places a plate of cupcakes in front of me and says, "Away!"
Of course, then I go all [censored] on his [censored] and get them anyway. Lesson learned!
Note: Stacey initially sent me The Soup's version, but this was the only embeddable video file I could find. So my apologies for the crazy spaghetti cat at the end.

I feel bad for that dog, it's cruel to stuff foodstuffs in his face then say "NO!"
I wonder if they bother rewarding him for not knocking down the cupcake-laden meanie and enjoying the cupcakes.
However, it is hilarious, poor dog.
That's one creepy cupcake trance.
I LOVE that dog.
OMG...I so know the crazy in that dog's eyes. I teach second grade and when someone brings in cupcakes with little spiderman ring flotsoms on them and places them on the classroom counter until lunch, that is what I see all during reading group. It seems no one gives a darn if Officer Buckle ever finds out Gloria is acting out his saftey lessons behind him on those days. This clip is just too funny.
You should never apologize for a spaghetti Cat!
That dog freaks me out like no other. But I can understand the love of cupcakes.
Honestly I'm not sure which is funnier....the crazed dog, or the nomnomnom spaghetti cat!
I can relate to that dog too.
Sigh.
Hilarious vid!
your apologies?! no way! as an obsessed Soup watcher I am more than ecstatic Spaghetti Cat was included..too hilarious...
Oh. my. gosh. That dog looked possessed and the "crazy spaghetti cat" was actually quite "funny" because it was so unexpectedly random. I'm still laughing. Five stars. :D
WV: angervic. Sounds Swedish.
Yeah, I get the same look with cupcakes when I'm on a diet :)
Oh my! that was too funny. I still think that dog should have just jumped all over those cupcakes and enjoyed, now THAT would be a good video =D
I didn't know that Spaghetti Cat had a "voice."
Poor dog. I look at cupcakes that way too.
I actually saw that on animal planet when it was on...But the spaghetti cat was a great random! lol.

That dog is priceless.
That is hilarious. I feel at one with the dog.
whoa, the dog's eyes are freaking me out....
Poor dog....I can totally relate to this dog...I look like the same when someone deny me my cupcake ;o)

This is Joel McHale's favorite clip and we get to see it every Friday at 9pm! Preeeetty funny!
my husband and i laughed hysterically when we saw this on the soup. like, laughing so hard you eventually go silent and are shaking all over and crying at the same time. too good. thanks for the reminder :D love the blog! viva wrex!
I've seen Border Collies do that with their eyes, apparently in an attempt to hypnotise sheep into being corralled. Perhaps the dog is trying to convince the flock of cupcakes to go somewhere safe from the mean old lady.
Looks like my 2 year old! And my kids LOVED the kitty at the end! Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU! for my daily laughs!
Zoltar -- no, actually it's not cruel. It was a great training session, and you have to watch the whole thing to see how she progressed from simple situations to this more difficult one. And yes, he was rewarded for controlling himself and not grabbing a cupcake. :)

It kind of looks like the dog is having a seizure. That glassy, fixed gaze just ain't right.
The moment I first saw the video I thought, "Man, I know that feeling!"
Poor Stains. I hope Victoria gave him his cupcake after all.
my first thought upon watching this episode of the soup...they are teaching the dog the errors of cup cake cakes :)
Holy cow! His face makes me laugh so hard it hurts! Thank you so much. Now, whenever I am feeling blue I can watch that video and laugh until I pass out. Hooray!
Mmmm cupcakes
Some one give that good dog a cookie!
poor doggie
That was too funny! My dogs would have knocked you over and eaten them anyway :P
You've got a blog award over on my blog!!! Stop by and claim it!
Hyla
LOL! how funny :)
"I feel bad for that dog, it's cruel to stuff foodstuffs in his face then say "NO!" "
It's actually the best way to teach him to not lunge for things that are really tasty but may not be good for him -- like anti-freeze or prescription pills.
Don't worry, the dog is always rewarded for leaving a jackpot like that! I do similar things to my puppy students, but I'll use dried meat instead of cupcakes. "Away" (also known as "Leave It") is one of the most important things for a dog to know, and is one of the commands most likely to save the dogs life someday, along with "Come".
I think spaghetti cat makes the video perfect!
spaghetti cat was my favorite part! lol
OMG!! Hilarious! We have an Australian Shepherd with blue eyes and she looks possessed like that sometimes...although we don't stick cupcakes in her nose! And we say "leave it" instead of "away", but same idea. Thanks for sharing...love it!
OMG! that is so funny. there is no amount of training that would keep my dog from devouring them before i could get the command out of my mouth!
That was just creepy! My Dal knew the "leave it" command, but she never made eyes like THAT!
Love spaghetti cat!
My husband says the dog has more self control than I do. I'd have to agree.
I am STILL laughing at that clip. I'm so glad you included it, spaghetti cat and all.
I sorta get that look whenever cake in any form is put in front of me especially if it is chocolate!
Well, I for one think the spaghetti cat at the end is the icing on the [cup]cake! LMAO!
PS, Who names their dog "Stains"???
that dog should have lunged for that woman's throat. that'll learn her for teasing him. Poor doggie. Stupid trainer.
That dog looks possessed. ROFL I know he's thinking, "I'll get my cupcake. Just turn your back for one stinkin' minute..."
And the nom nom cat? Cute.

Forgot to say: I've been looking for that exact type of Aussie Shepherd for years now. Come to my house, kiddo. We've got cupcakes! (sing song)

I love me some Joel McHale.
Okay, maybe its just me, but that dog reminds me of Alice Cooper. Seriously, Google Alice Cooper images right now!
The wide, dark eyes, the black on the side of the lips, half growl...
No matter how many times I've seen that video, I still crack up when it comes on. It is hilarious.
Re: who names their dog "stains"?
My guess would be 12 year old boys who never grew up and enjoy yelling a certain command to a dog with that name. Forgive my crudeness.
*Ahem* What would one say if they wanted a dog named "stains" to move to a place closer to the owner? Sit? Stay?
Wait for it...
Yeah.
