What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets: Cute Baby Cakes

You know what's even cuter than animal and character cakes? Baby animal and character cakes.

(By Dolci Arte in St. Petersburg)

Like little Tinkerbell!

So cute, you could just eat her up, am I right?

(You know, even when talking about a cake, that still sounds creepy. LESSON LEARNED.)

Look at this shaggy lil' koala:

(By Shierlly Bei in Jakarta, Indonesia)

Who else wants to pet a cake right now?

Frog with a balloon, you guys. FROG... WITH A BALLOON:

(By Moli Cakes in Slovakia)

D'awwwwwww.

I love the colors on this one:

(By Erin Salerno in Wisconsin)

Plus baby tigers are always a win.

Years ago I fell in love with this painting of baby Chewbacca by ReevolveR:

I mean. C'mon.

But then someone made a cake version!

(By Cake Central user MrsBriggs06)

I'm really hoping those are marshmallows in his bandolier.

Or how about a 'dorable dinosaur?

(By Moli Cakes in Slovakia)

I can't decide which is more impressive: the sculpted baby or the handpainted mama on the bottom!

This one goes out to everyone feeling a little bit... prickly:

(By Leslie Vigil in California)

Baby hedgehog cake! Love love love.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better than a fluffy llama, you find one in a poofy pompom harness:

(By Karen Paddila Cakes in San Juan)

It's just so happy.

And finally, amping up the cute meter ever further, we have this cuddle of teddy bears:

(Baker unknown, anyone recognize it?)

The light-up ball on top makes it so magical!

Hope you guys enjoyed! Happy Sunday!

I would not be able to watch when someone cut those cakes. The thought of destroying something that adorable would break my tiny heart!

flock of geese
murder of crows
CUDDLE OF TEDDY BEARS !

did you just coin the phrase?
I love it.

That's how toy stores should display them.

Why do I suddenly want to start a llama farm?

The baby Chewbacca is priceless! Definitely my favorite of this bunch. And I'd bet that those are marshmallows in his bandolier.

As a biologist I can assure you that frogs have a naval- but usually its on the inside of the abdominal wall.

I have a Chewy question: is there a significance to his bottle being broken? Like does it refer back to something in one of the movies? I keep feeling bad that he's trying to drink from a bottle when the milk is running out the other end.

Too cute! I want to hug that little hedgehog... I might get poked by its prickles but it would be worth it, don't you think?

Wreckerators can learn something from that last cake. How to make castle turrets without them looking so....manly. Great stuff today!
