A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

John, I hope you're feeling better than Captain America seems to be.
I also think the shark is absolutely adorable, although I didn't know it was a shark until I saw the Jaws poster and, before I realized what it was supposed to be, I was just confused.
Love it! Captain America is really creeping me out though. It looks like ol' Cappy and Sam the Eagle had a illegitimate daughter.
John,
These cakes all look great to me. Maybe time to cut back on the medications?
Just kidding, of course, though I agree that shark cake is kinda adorable. I'm glad you are feeling well enough to post.
AngelaS
Captain America has seen some things.
Is it just me or does Elsas castle look like three wars of corn covered in icing?
Non-dominant hand photoshopping or did you make Jen do it for you? Either way, welcome back.
John, I add my get well wishes to the other comments and am glad that you are back to posting and photoshopping. If pictures are worth a thousand words, photoshopped pictures are worth a thousand laughs.
The John Wayne picture made me actually snort, which is more than that horse can do. The poor horse has a seriously deviated septum.
I'm also pleased to see that the "cake character, 8 inch silver" is available at the everyday low price of 19.99. 'Cause you never know when it will be safe to go back into the kitchen.
I'm glad you're feeling well enough to make us laugh! And that you included the photographic references, because other than the horse I was stumped until I saw those...
My dad made me a horse-head shaped caked when I was a kid. It was lovely (though I remember being an ungrateful brat about it because it was just a head, and not a whole horse). And waaaaay better than that one. I should thank my dad for that cake. Because it was awesome.
Ya know, if you look at the "shark" just right, it looks like an elf from the old Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer TV special.
And...That "castle" looks more like the giant worm tubes *shudder* on the bottom of the ocean.
Ay caramba!...Isn't that the horses head they used in the Godfather?!
Captain America's face: when the government screws up your suit but there's too much red tape to complain...
Neeta, I'm snorting with you. This has to be one of the best uses of Photoshop I've ever seen!
The shark is by far munchies favorite. Especially when put into the Jaws scene. Somehow, that just completes the effect xD
Oh wow. These are too too.... awful!
LOVE the horse photowreck, but the FROZEN wreck reminds me of some creepy Ray Harryhausen effect from Jason and the Argonauts (remember Neptune rising up out of the sea?). Yeah. Kinda like that. Watch out Elsa!
A PS for John:
Hope your'e feeling a LOT better! Love the shark photo wreck too. ROTFLMAO!
Cap looks like he's had a little too much Botox the wrong way. Also I think iron man needs to learn that tinfoil is not a good building material 😏
So if Iron Man is a toaster does that make it a multi-genre wreck (does Iron Man count as sci-fi? I'd think action but could be wrong)? I can't imagine either needing pince-nez, but maybe they're a third property worked into the wreck or some nod to hipsterdom. The first 'shop is priceless though.
Wow. One minute, there''s the Big Guy riding his steed....
Next thing (which is ACTUALLY the first thing) there it is again, posing for a photo-op in The Godfather VIIEIEIO.- (pillow scene).
=^-.-^=
I am SO glad I had already finished my coffee before viewing this post!
Poor John Wayne having to ride a CCC (patooie!) horse. The icing would melt in the desert sun and dessert would be gone.
That castle in the snow? Elsa needs to Let It Go.
Still deciding whether I'm Team Iron Man or Team Cap....though if it were based on the cake, then I'd say Iron Man...as long as the icing isn't iron tough.
And the shark? Let me sink my Jaws into that wreck...
I was unaware that Captain America has feathers. Good to know!
I think we're gonna need a bigger barf bag!
My first impressions: #1 - Poorly executed mountain pass. #2 - Three wise men (I think the blue glass made me think of a cathedral window). #3 - Mrs. Captain A? Nice eyeliner job. #4 - happy toaster. #5 - One of the little green aliens from Toy Story after the Zombie Apocalypse.
I LOVE how you incorporate photoshop now. Makes the sarcasm even thicker. Perfect.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!
So, after the John Wayne pic made me laughsnort, I then had the following internal dialogue:
Hey, Captain America. Well, he's not SO bad. Oh look, a cute little bus with glasses. Hey, why is that bus fighting Cap? Oh.
Then I read @Tony's comment about the illegitimate child of Sam the Eagle and Cap and I laughsnorted again.
So glad you're up and around John!
Minecraft Iron Man wants to know what Captain America can't unsee.
The second one looks like the Ice King's castle in Adventure Time :)
For the first one I thought it was two dinosaurs mating until I saw John Wayne. o.0
Could that Captain America be considered the transvestite version? Thick eye liner, feathers, THE LOOK...
That adorable shark is the mashup between the little green aliens of Toy Story and a Narwhal.
Yay! Wrecky cake photoshop is back!
Feel better, JthoJ!
The horse!!!! Bahahaha
PLEASE tell me that’s sugar glass in the second cake, and not chunks of a shattered Skyy Vodka bottle.
That shark wreck is so cute though lol. I would go in the water just to chase after it lol.
'We're gonna need a bigger horse!' Wait ... no, that's not right. Ah, got it ... 'horse goes into bakery, shark's in bakery, our shark.' Nailed it.
The shark is cute but I would have thought it was the Abominable from Rudolph before the Dentist removes his teeth.
Whee, left-handed mousing? Go John!
Also, possibly the oddest shark I've seen...so far. :p
OMG please do more posts like this one. That movie poster is hilarious!
The IronMan photo is flopped (flipped side to side). The label actually reads "Happy 23rd birthday [somebody's name]" when the image is in the correct orientation.
Photo Wreckery is always the best! I'm crying...in a good, don't choke while giggling way.
