Who would ever guess that's cake?? And as stunning as the sculpting and airbrushing is, for some reason I can't stop staring at the perfect pile of gold coins. SO GOOD.

That square wedding cake! Swoon. While I'm in awe of the beautifully executed, gravity-defying, flights of fancy, it's the cakes that I might actually encounter in real life that keep me believing in love and joy and buttercream. Happy 2016, fellow sugar-cravers!

All are awesome, but I think the wedding cakes win! Too gorgeous!
While the wedding is beautiful, they caused a lot of damage in a redwood forest in Big Sur and got fined $2.5 million.
Unfortunately, that over-the-top themed wedding included the wedding planners (a limited liability corporation created by Sean Parker!) going and digging around in some redwood forest to make a nice set for the wedding, because lalalaaaa why not and anyway it's so pretty. And then they left the set behind!
The State of California punished him by, among other things, making him write an app that explains exactly how to get to all public-access beaches without trespassing on other people's property. Hopefully he learned something.
My birthday is in two weeks. Can I have that last Dragon cake, please?

I can't find any leads on the square wedding cake. It seems to be a slightly wrecky version of Shukulata's cake as seen here. Note the discoloration of the white frosting on the left corner of every tier.
That is FAR too much money for one wedding. And the fact that they got fined for destruction of forest?? Ridiculous. People like that have too much money and not enough sense.
Amazing as always, Jen. My favorite is the last dragon cake. It seems there would be very little actual cake in it however, since it's pretty narrow and presumably the wings are pure sugar. It is exquisite though.
Thanks for including the link to the photos from the Parker wedding. Yes, it was over the top, and distressingly wasteful, but my goodness, it was beautiful. I didn't know when going through the slide show that so much damage had been done in preparation for the event and that the planners didn't dismantle the show the next day. That knowledge does cast a pall over the entire event. Assuming they paid the fines and made the court-ordered reparations, then I'm satisfied, but I'm a romantic at heart so I want it to be perfect, darn it!
So... Last week you gave me the best birthday present ever with Star Wars cakes. But that hobbit hole is soooo cuuuute! And the first Smaug has a replica of the special edition Hobbit book, which is fantastic! Oh, how I love Sundays!
I am positively LIVING FOR that wedding dress. Holy crud, the work that went into that alone gags me.
When I had my Star Trek theme wedding back in 2008, lots of people thought that it/I was bizarre; dressing up in *costumes* for a wedding, who does THAT? Now it's as common as backfence cats.

@Jolene - My Lego-expert son says that Sensei Wu's hat is different, so that probably is Gandalf. All I I can say is all Lego hats hurt the same when stepped on in the dark!
Actually, that's not all I can say - I must add that these cakes are GORGEOUS!
I only have one word for this amazing collection: SWOON!!!!!!!!!!!!
And because I just saw it last night, what the hobbit hole cake most reminded me of was this cat house (and also the coordinating Eye of Sauron scratching post). You know you want it now.
