What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets and Halloween Treats!

Halloween is next weekend! Quick!

FIND A CUTE MUMMY CAKE.

(By Perfect Indulgence Cakes)

Well, that's a wrap.
:D

Or perhaps you prefer a slightly spookier Sweet:

(By Queens of Sweet)

Quoth the raven: "Ok, but just one more slice."

Some witchy silhouettes and a fantastic use of tissue paper "flames":

(By Nikkiberry)

And this chocolate sculpt is fiendishly good:

(By Yener's Way)

See the pirate ship and dock at the base?

I must admit, my favorite witches are the ones playing Leap Frog, not making them:

(By Michela Barocci)

Because look how cute.

Still, I realize some of you like a good scare - so this one's for you:

(By Christine H. McConnell)

And now none of us will ever look at chocolate-covered strawberries the same. [shudder]

This one has a little something for all of you scary movie fans:

(Baker Unknown. Anyone recognize it?)

You guys, that is a wedding cake. And even though I'm a huge wuss when it comes to scary stuff, that bride and groom Alien topper is making my whole afternoon.

There may be other haunted houses, but for us Disney fans, there is only one Haunted Mansion:

(By Walt Disney World resort bakers, featured here)

This is another wedding cake! Check out the bride and groom in the Doom Buggy:

Love the stretching portraits, too.

Behold, Franken-Minion!

(By Baked By Dan)

The combed down hair is the BEST.

And finally, a pony-licious Halloween treat for my fellow Bronies and Pegasisters:

(By Sugar Spooks)

Oh man, crazy-eyed zombie Pinkie-Pie?! Ha! Plus Flutter Bat, Punk Rarity, Franken-AppleJack, Mummy Twilight, and Rainbow Dash's skeleton? THIS IS EPIC.

Here's hoping your Halloween is just as Sweet!

The Aliens wedding cake topper has to be THE best topper I have ever seen. Ever ever!

Love these cakes. The one with the witch jumping over the pumpkin is just adorable. Love the zombie ponies.

Is there any cake inside the chocolate structure?

October 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterTachybaptus

OMG that chocolate creation. Wow. I also love the dancing witches silhouette cake. All of them are really unique.

Did you notice that Mummy-Twi has Neil Gaiman Death's eye make-up?

October 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterThaumh

@Renmandfx - priceless
The little mummy and the pumpkin leap witch are soooo adorable.
The goth raven and chocolate sculpture cakes are amazing. (Does anyone else see the at-at in the chocolate one).
It was hard to pick, but Franken-Minion is our favourite!

I agree with Renmandfx about the strawberry Audreys, plus there's the real Audrey II on the scary-movie-mash-up-wedding-cake right below it. I also see Chucky, Freddy Kruger, Jason -- all the gang!

Most squee-worthy are the purple spider and FRANKEN-MINION!!!! If there were ever two plushies that needed to be made... (Etsy people, are you listening?)

Okay, I just CANNOT choose my favorite this week! Franken-Minion is SO adorable!! And....is that Carol Ann in front of the TV?? "Don't go into the light!" But I think I know my favorite; it's that gorgeous, all-black number with the raven and the drippy candle. Perfection!!

Is Zombie Pinkie Pie eating Rainbow Dash's brain???? So it that cake My Little Pony: Fiendish is Magic? :-)

October 26, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterGinger

The paper flames are crepe paper, not tissue paper. Unless they're tortilla chips, which now do come in all kinds of colors besides "corn." :)

October 26, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterkayk

That MLP cake is 20% cooler! And the FrankenMinion! Squeee!

October 26, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKellieRee

That bride and groom Alien egg really is absolutely fantastic..

Almost makes the fact that they want to burrough down my throat cute..
Awww. Its like a hug from the inside. ヽ(。◁˚)ノ

The Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash figures look like they were inspired by the infamous Cupcakes fanfiction. And if that's not spooky, I don't know what is.

October 28, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMafiaSquirrel

Franken-minion - is he made of cake? He is absolutely too cute to cut into! And the little girl leaping over the jack-o-lantern is adorable! I laugh through the week with Cake Wrecks, but when it is time for Sunday Sweets I smile and say, "Wow!"

October 30, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterChicago

The Ponies one is like the Ponies of the Apocalypse sketch from Robot Chicken. If you haven't seen it, it's worth looking up.

November 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterTJ

Yeah, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash there are totally a reference to the fanfic Cupcakes, Pinkie's eating a rainbow cupcake and everything. And that's kind of awesome. :D
