What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Sunday Sweets: Boredom Busters

Bored? How can you possibly be bored? School's only been out three weeks!

Well, why don't you read a book?

(By Charm City Cakes)

You said you wanted to finish the Harry Potter series this summer. You can borrow my copies.

(Spoiler alert: Voldemort did it.)

(I am SO funny.)

Weren't there some songs you wanted to download? You could do that.

(By Queen City Bake Shop)

Oh, you already did?

Well, we could play Scrabble.

(Submitted by Ainsley B., and made by Cake Central user ToniRod)

No, I don't always win. Besides, everybody knows "syzygy" is a word.

Well, do you want to go on a bike ride?

(By ozcake)

They're both flat? Uh, when were you going to tell us?

OK. Fine. Ummm, do you want to help me make cookies?

(By Creative Cakes by Julie)

No, sorry, we're out of chocolate chips.

Oh, I know, why don't you call some friends and go swimming?

(By Short and Sweets)

You could all have a picnic in the backyard afterwards,

(By My Two Sweetie Pies)

...and then we could set up a tent and you can have a sleepover.

(By Hilary Rose Cupcakes)

I'm sure you didn't actually hear wolves howling last night. It was the neighbor's dog. And the backyard is fenced.

No? Well, what about a movie? Does a movie sound good?

(By Cakes by Roselyn)

No, it has to be rated PG. We talked about this...

Look, I've given you a lot of fun options, and you've said no to all of them. I guess I can always find you some chores to do! I need help transplanting those seedlings.

(Submitted by Danette T., "sprout" toppers made by mimicafe Union)

And when's the last time you cleaned your room?

(By Mary Lazarides)

Well, at least make the bed. And see if you can find the dog's leash. And, Sweetie, Christmas was six months ago. Maybe it's time to put away the reinbear?

Sweetie? Where are y...?

Are you playing Minecraft again?

(By Sweet Disposition Cakes)

(That's 1,025 individually placed squares. WOW.)

Ok, but just thirty minutes. Then, your room!

Have a Sweet to nominate? Then send it Sunday Sweets [at] Cake Wrecks [dot] com!

Well, be fair-- they're on/by a BED, not a climbing wall or a mountainside, what was an old reprobate like me supposed to think?! This kid may very well be a freakazoid, he does have a camera and a Netflix-ready laptop on his bed as well, Bowie only knows what all he gets up to. The stuffed moose knows, but he ain't telling, because of the shame. I stand by my shenanigan call.

Before the recent boom in the market for adult toys/gear, most folks used stuff from the sporting goods store (especially climbing gear) for their strange fun. Many still do, as it is usually cheaper and sturdier than the stuff made for said adult purposes.

And there's your Fun Freak Fact for today! (sings) Leeeaarrrrrning annnnd Grrooooowiiing!

Your Pal,

Storm

So, am I the only one with enough OCD to know the Scrabble board was played incorrectly? :) The first word is supposed to land on the star square somewhere!
But, it's a beautiful cake!

Where I'm from (Pennsylvania), the school year usually ends the 2nd week of June, and it starts the Wednesday before Labor Day. Where I live now (Florida), I think it ends either the last week of May or the first week of June, but since I'm not in school and don't have kids, I'm not entirely certain. I'm not sure what to make of the comments from people saying it ends in July there, but I feel sorry for those kids. (I liked school, but that's a little ridiculous--especially if your school is like mine was and doesn't really have air conditioning).

I'm not really sure how you guys can look at the room cake and see anything besides a helmet. I thought the climbing harness was some sort of belt or something (hey, I've never gone climbing, why would I think harness?), but the thing on the floor is DEFINITELY a pretty much perfectly done helmet.

GIVE ME THAT MINECRAFT CAKE, SO I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO TURN IT INTO A PORTAL TO MINECRAFT.

I love all these cakes <3 Especially the Minecraft on since I'm a HUGE fan :P I actually counted the length and breadths of the sides, and it appears that the top is exactly 15x15 while the sides are 14x15 (down and across respectively) But honestly, considering how perfect the cake looks,I wouldn't even care :P
