Oh my gosh. I can't believe the detail in the Harry Potter books, and I think the minecraft block has more detail than an actual minecraft block. I don't even think I could bring myself to eat these.

Inquiring minds want to know just how happy, and what they're clamping.
I can't believe that I just can't pick up those Harry Potter books and leaf through them. Of course then I would get cake all over my hand and then the parents will ask me to leave and the birthday girl will start sobbing, and then I'll yell that they are all a whole bunch of Dursley's and that Harry never minded that Hagrid sat on his cake and then they will never talk to me ever again.
I think it's "Glamping" (ie, fancy glam camping).
And I LOVE those seedling cupcakes! Oh my goodness!!
15x15x5 should be 1125, no? Way too many little tiny squares at any rate! :) Amazingly awesome summery sweets all around. :)
What an absolute wreck that last one is! A *real* Minecraft block has 256 squares to a side, and 1280 on the 5 sides that this cake has!
Kidding, of course (though those are the real numbers)!
Really like the sprout cupcakes. Hope they're especially moist, though, or have a kiss in their centers.

My inquiring mind also wanted to know - it looked like 'Glamping' to me, which I hadn't heard of. I thought it might be a British-ism, but when I looked it up, I found thay it's a combination of 'glamorous' and 'camping'. You know - camping, but with eiderdown pillows, champagne, and enjoying the next day's sunrise without a crick in your neck.
Now I want to know how the good people at Hilary Rose Cupcakes are making their flowers. I just spent 30 minutes on a cupcake slideshow with my jaw dropping every 3rd slide.
@khereva: *Giggles*-- I saw "clamping," too; figured it might just be a "mechanics-for-girls" type of thing..(or plumbing, or any number of other enterprises).
My brother-in-law would go nuts over the Minecraft cake--he's a big fan! I'll have to hook him up with this!

Those Harry Potter books are amazing. The Chuck Taylors by the bed are so adorable. How do bakers do this? I am not a pro, but sure am a wreckorator, so am always amazed by good decorations.
I want to do all of those things! (With cake in between each activity, of course.....)

PS -- as a kid our vacations often involved camping -- it was cheap. And it was rustic -- no glamping. ( I don't think a plastic bucket and a roll of toilet paper inside the tent for answering the call of nature in the middle of the night was anything near glamorous.)
Between these gorgeous cakes and Sharyn's superb writing, this was one of the most fun posts on Cake Wrecks.
Wonderful, wonderful cakes - and cupcakes; while I was awed at the detail in the Harry Potter cakes (good to see a Charm City entry, too) I was utterly charmed by the seedling-cupcakes. What a brilliant idea!
Those little pot seedlings are adorable! I think I actually squeed a bit upon seeing them.
I daren't show the Minecraft cake to my 10-y-old--she plays it CONSTANTLY and she'd go insane, demanding it for her next birthday. And I just don't have that level of skill or enough treasure.
I think I will try the flowerpot cupcakes for my month as Refreshments Lady. Fortunately I have until September to learn how to make the sprouts.
Excellent cakes all but I did think the stump legs and arms (no feet and hands) on the kids in the pool cake were kinda creepy. Creepy but whimsical, creemsical! :)
I am in love with the seedling cupcakes :D if I could i'd make them for my mom's garden club and the pool is so cute :D

Um, I don't think that is supposed to be the dog's leash ... or the dog's muzzle, in the messy bed cake. I think that is a little kink cake right there.
I love the "Spelling Bee" reference. It made my musical theatre loving heart happy to see. And if it wasn't a reference to it, don't tell me!

Yes - glamping is a rather new term which is a combination of glamor and camping. Upscale camping if you will. Google the term - you will find some DIVINE glamping sites!! Some of them even have their own butlers, etc. Its really a neat idea for those that love the outdoors, but can't bring themselves to spend a fortune on a motor home, or don't want to rough it in a tent LOL! Happy medium I guess!!

My poor kids. "Mom, I'm bored." immediately gets answered with "Here's the cleaner, the bathroom's a mess." Of course I don't hear them complaining about boredom too often. :)

The Scrabble board is wonderful. They lose points for not having "KWYJIBO" on one of the racks, though.

As lovely as the splash cake is... it disturbs me that the girl's legs look like fingers.

Counted the minecraft squares. 14 going vertically and 15 going horizontally. that makes 14x15x4 + 15x15 = 1065. We are definitely a bunch of geeks.
Actually, 'syzygy' IS a word and I even know what it means (nope, not a geek, not me)--I just have no idea how to pronounce it. Give you a hint: it's up in the sky, but it DOESN'T have a cape.

After looking at all those beautiful cakes the only thing I can think about is: on what planet did the kids get let out of school three weeks ago? My son's last day is tomorrow and he is in highschool--English exam. You would think I'd be thinking of the cakes, but really, I'm considering how great it would be if the kids DID get out for summer three weeks ago.
Anyway, totally gorgeous cakes. I'd like to try the wee pot 'o cupcakes. Very cute!

For an extra point, who knows the word 'antisyzygy'? Clue: it refers to Scottish literature and the Scottish psyche. Try it with the word Caledonian in front. Of course, in Scrabble it would be four more points.
@ Marisa & Marie: Apparently Central Illinois is on a separate planet. My daughter's last day of school was May 24, and it was only that late because of snow and flood days. They start up again August 16. I think originally in farm country kids got out so early to help with the farming, but most years now the planting is at least nearly finished by the end of May. It's still odd for me, even though I've lived here 8 years, to hear about people planning graduation parties and doing that planning in early May. Where I come from (Southern California) I was a high school teacher and we didn't even think much about such things until much later as we didn't get out until mid-June. The other weird thing in this area is that often the seniors graduate before the other grades finish their school year. Graduations are almost always Sunday afternoons, and then the rest of the kids go back to school for another few days. To my friends here, this is normal, but every year I find it surprising all over again.

Here in Texas, most schools let out the first & second weeks of June. But, we also start our year near the end of August. My guess is ya'll don't start until after Labor Day?

Glamping is what they do at Downton Abbey. they take Carson, Bates, Anna and Mrs. Patmore to set up the tents, serve luncheon and dress for dinner. while "roughing" it in beautiful Pavillions (no common tents for them!) :-)
@Storm... I thought the same thing about the ball gag... Is it supposed to be a bike helmet? If that's the case, what is the harness thing on the bed?
@Storm and @Shannon -- according to the Facebook page of that cake artist, it is supposed to be climbing gear and a climbing helmet. I guess we just have dirty minds, as we saw a ball gag and restraints, not a climbing harness and helmet :) But come on! Totally looks like something else when out of context.
Hmm. The top is 15x15, which is 225. But the other sides are not identical to the top. Each side is only 14 cubes high, and shares the top row with the top side, so really it's only 13 cubes high, and each side shares a column with each adjacent side, so it's 14 cubes wide. So the sides are each 13 x 14 = 182. 182 x 4 = 728. Add the sides to the top, 728 + 225 = 953.
