Seven Surprising Words Bakers Can't Spell
(Warning: Slightly badish word)
If one didn't know better, one might think that "congratulations" and "birthday" were the only words that bakers regularly misspelled. To this I say "Pish Tosh!" since I am currently in a post-Olympics English funk. Also, I assume all English people regularly say "Pish Tosh." Along with "ickle bobby wagon."
There are, however, a plethora of words that enjoy the same vigorous mangling. These include:
"Nathibnals"
"Yatch"
"Fathdays"
And, of course, "asswhoie"
[Little known fact: "ASSWHOIEEEE!!" is what Goofy originally screamed while sailing off that cliff, before the censors got a hold of it.]
Thanks to Ashley C., Carol M., Connie F., Rachel N., Sunshine, Heather D., & Gare E. for giving me an excuse to post my favorite Goofy clip:

Looks like #7 dad to me -- wonder what the other 6 think of that?
No, YOUR ausome! And thanks for posting the Goofy clip. We are fans!
After this post, spellcheckers everywhere are exploding. We could have a meltdown!
As much as I love "Happy Fathdays Days", nothing will EVER top Happy Falker Satherland. I hope.
Here's the link for those who missed it:

As for you, Jen and Sharyn: Your ausome. And you're welcome!
I can't justify the "your", but clearly the "ausome" is intended to proclaim that the recipient is golden. ;)
And "Pocker" is what you get when you partially dip your cards and chips in flavored creme.
I'll never watch another Goofy cartoon the same way again.
I find it sad that the poker one actually looked pretty good aside from the fact that the baker can't spell.
Yatch is what you do when you're sick. One AssWhole is 4 hindquarters.
You guys are killin' me!!! Tears running down my face, trying not to laugh very loudly in my quiet office.
@Sharyn ~ I'm so going to shout "Asswhoie" and say some lady told me to! ;-)
I've misspelled names, but this is just
sad. Every baker should be issued a
dictionary before they are allowed to have
a pastry bag.
Love the goofy cartoon. My favorite is
gymnastics goofy. I think asswhoie will
be my expletive of choice for a while
How on Earth did they get "Nathibnals" from nuptials?
Holy cow! Palmer's Cove Yatch Club is right in my town! I always thought it was Palmer Cove, but now I know better.
Katie, I will join in the balderdash game. Shall we meet in the bunker?
....annnnd now I need to watch Aladdin. STAT. Thanks, Sharyn ;)
Group hug! Can I kiss the monkey? (hack, splat) Oooh, hairball.
Yeah, I can repeat a LOT of lines from that one.
I am disappointed that no members of "Nathibnals" weighed in today. They're a small and very devoted fan club of the Barenaked Fillion who only communicate in binary.
@mel but did you have roast beef or did you have none? And "c" worthy was giggle/snort worthy.
Read to the tune of the nursery rhyme "This is the house that Jack built".

Hey, if there's a Balderdash game in the bunker, count me in! Or we could play Pocker. Whichever one "your" in the mood for is fine with me.
Wow. And I was thinking spelling can't possibly be that hard lol. Apparently it is though. Ausome just ausome. I hope that first one meant nuptials but with that wording it could be almost anything and that worries me. asswhoie just makes me laugh harder lol.
@Barbara Anne: Can I come? I'll bring some baklava in the Dead Sea Tupperware.
My son turned 4. his name is benjamin. They spelled his name "Banjamin."
Thank goodness he can't read.
Wow.
I love your posts, ausomly punny, funny, and a to wacked humor. (yes, I no, its all goofy)
That said, reading the reader's comments has to be the most enjoyable part of all. I'm at a loss to even comment.
I will note, however, that the pocker cake was done so well, and then, horror of it all, the screwups. BTW, FYI, in TX we do play poker with dominoes. They do fit in with the theme of the cake, just not something most northerners know. The dominoes are not part of the wreckage. At least, not to my TX State of mind.
Sweet clip of Goofy - I'll never view it the same way again. Nor will I ever view my bungling, broken armed DH the same way again. I wonder if THAT was what came out of his snow buried mouth that day?
I'm waiting for a cake that celebrates the "Phase/Faze error".
Hold on! Since when is a Monty Python reference not relevant? I'm not even sure that's possible.
Can I just point out, as an English person, that I have never said "pish tosh" or "ickle bobby wagon" - I even had to go to the linked post to find out what the second one meant!
In fact I've never heard anyone say either of those things
I literally cried with laughter over this post, thank you!!
I must be having one of those days. After seeing all the misspellings, I can't remember how the words are supposed to be spelled...Or maybe my brain just broke.
I don't think Nathibnals meant either nuptials or Nationals. I think it meant "Congratulations on your Coming Promotion." Or maybe "... on your Coming Tractor."
Sharyn- so much win today!! :D You're no diamond in the rough and I nearly had a heart attack from not-surprise.
A cummunion cake sounds both inappropriate and likely illegal if the recipient is under 18.
Theez our nise! I thank the pocker cak is ausome! It wood be a grate cak four Fathdays Day. Unnles youre fathday is a asswhoie of coarse.
Wat?
"Your Ausome"-What about my ausome?
I was thinking the DYAC was about the funnies site I had ever seen, but I think this one takes the cake! :o)
Your Ausome: The ausome that belongs to you.
It's not too late to join the Balderdash game, is it?! I'll bring the allergen-free cake w/no gluten, eggs, dairy, corn, nuts, cane sugar, chocolate or strawberries. (Sorry, the last two no-nos are so my son can eat it.) When people start bragging about their "ausome" Honor Roll, Star Athlete, Nobel-Prize winning kids who give whole lectures while mine struggles to get out a proper sentence, I chime in with "My kid's got more food allergies than your kid!" :-)
And I really, really, REALLY wish wreckerators were required to view the DVD program on "Spell To Write and Read". 70 phonograms (including the original 26 'singles'), 28 spelling rules & you're done. Very few exceptions, very logical, very simple. Google it or hit www.bhibooks.net (no, I'm not paid, just a fan & deeply concerned American citizen... :,(
Ya know, not for nothing, but, if I made a cake as pretty as ''pocker'' or I was worried about any word I might mess up, ESP as the cake decorator, Id go over words and spelling BEFORE i put those words on the cake. Cute site:)
PS Horrible grammar bothers me too!!
Here in the South, AUsome indicates you're an Auburn fan. Also the "your" if you're an Alabama fan. They love making dumb jokes about Auburn.
Not only do I get to laugh my butt off about the cakes... I look forward to Sharyn's songs. It's so hard not to sing along. :)
It took me half an hour to figure out what "Nathibnals" was supposed to be. It wasn't until I looked at how the two lines accidentally ran together that I went, "Oh--NATIONALS!"
Some decorators really should be restricted to print lettering in all caps...
It's pish posh.
