Mom Gets the Last Word
May 9, 2011 There are so many ways to tell your mom what she means to you.
And after yesterday, now we know all the wrong ones.
"Of all the moms out there, you are definitely one of them."Oh, sorry, did you want a number sign?

I have a Mother's Day card my daughter (now 23) made in second grade that says, "Happy Mothy Day". Maybe she should have become a cake decorator instead of a costume designer. :)
Mothday Day - The celebration of Mothday, which in turn is the celebration of Mothman.
Joy, I was going to ask the same thing. I'm not sure if it an innuendo or a garden? I do know that I am extremely excited for Mothday! What do I wear?

Believe it or not, I have never seen anything like what's in your blog at the bakery counter. Clearly I haven't been looking closely enough.
If not for Sunday Sweets, I'd be starting to wonder if any professionally decorated cake anywhere gave the customers what they wanted.

#1 I too have '1 Mom'. For whom I am thankful.
#2 I'll start Twittering when pigs fly, so the 'hash tag' theory didn't occur to me. Perhaps the wreckerator's name is Ed. As in Ed Ipus. (A kudos to @Poisonheart, who posted first.)
#3 Finally, the bakery division of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation gets recognition with "Lovly Mo'm". Share and Enjoy. Which you can, because it is a CCC (patooie!).
#4 Ok, so the wreckerator has a deal with Mars (the candy company). Ya think maybe Mom doesn't appreciate being used for product placement?
#5 If I tilt my head and squint, I can see a watering can instead of Audrey. Which latter association is all the more unfortunate in the context of thanking Mom for imparting a love of gardening. (And all cupcake recipients said, 'Feed Me!')

That "planting the seed" cake... It's hideous, I have no idea what it is, but I can't stop staring at it.

Uglier things have been seen but not by reliable witnesses.
Is that orange thing cruelty to cup cakes - shouldn't be allowed.
So... the "watering can"... Wow. My first actual thought was that it was some kind of fruit (Mango?) that had either rotted enough to drop its seeds or had them forcibly ripped out. Neither image was good. The second thought was apparently everyone else's first - that we saw WAY too much of Mom displayed on a cake.
Well Mothday Day is a new one on me. Now even those evil clothes eating critters have their own day lol. Wow. Why does that planting the seed cake look like Jaws took a huge bite out of it? Makes me very afraid.
That orange one looked to me like a mouth. I was thinking perhaps Mom had to "prep" Dad to get him ready to "plant", thus she gets the credit. I couldn't figure out what the appendages were, though! I'll go with the watering can, and that it's really a graduation or accomplishment cake, based on Mom's idea. Yea Mom!

I thought the orange cake was a lateral section of a pregnant uterus, with the placenta at the bottom of the uterus, and the ovaries with eggs below that, plus a couple of unrelated flowers.

For Mothday Day, my Mothday and I celebrated with some Cousdays, Aundays and Uncdays.
My Brothday lives too far away to come, but he and my Sisday-in-law sent best wishes.

She certainly reproduced prolifically and produced seeds, so it makes sense that someone would try to make her portrait in cupcakes.

I think the "1 Mom" cake was commissioned by an organization promoting traditional family values. For everyone else, may I suggest the following:
For Elton John's son: 0 Mom
Any future children of Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi: 2 Moms

My son, who is in Kindergarten, looked at the "lovly Mom" cake and said "There is supposed to be an 'e' at the end of love in lovely." If a six year-old can spell it, why can't the wreckerators? Maybe my son can get a job as a store cake spell checker.
I don't know, guys, I just can't make a watering can out of that. I'm a doctor, and the first thing I saw was ovulation! The big black-and-orange thing is an ovary, the gaping wound is a ruptured follicle, and the thing with all the, um, seeds on it is the egg. And then there are flowers because those are always nice.

Sad to say, I got the watering can right away (if you look at cake wrecks often enough, it's like a picture-word-association thing), but I read "#1 mom" automatically on the first cake, and then didn't get why it was a wreck.

YES! What Andrea K said! What the he!! is that abomination? I actually had a violent, negative reaction to viewing it. My head hurts where I hit the wall jumping back out of harm's way.
