What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

That's Internet For "I Love You"

Courtesy PSA:
August is "Win With Civility Month."

Fortunately, Cake Wrecks has helped inspire a touching new cake trend for just such an occasion:

You're welcome, world.

Thanks to Autumn H., Christy M., Fribby, Haley O., Karen W., Kathleen S., Kayla P., Kristen P., Lexi, Maribeth, Anony M., Rob, Sarah F., & Wendy B. for being such a trendsetter way back in 2010.

You have to wonder: if that's the way they feel, why did they bother with the cake?

Why do they all have variations on the exact same message? Is there a standard rude message option? Fail at what? I have so many questions.

The armadillo road kill was a nice touch. I think I'd be leery of the people who put the knife in the cake. I don't know know if I'd turn my back on them. And the crying cartoon guy, where did he get the Tyrannosaurus arms?

How is it that these are some of the nicer looking cakes that we have seen in a while?!

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Note to self: red and yellow are a horrible color combination, especially when the yellow looks like butter-flavored Crisco and the red looks like ketchup splatters.

I want to know where they found the plastic armadillo in picture number five

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered Commenteranon

Surely someone must know the backstory? There are so many of these? Is it a joke? Or is it a ritual thing that goes on in certain circles? Creeeepy!

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterConfused

my take away: all but one baker used the correct "you're". way to go!!

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered Commenterm9

I love the dead armadillo! And that cake is beautiful, and actually spelled correctly! Opting to separate "you" and "are" probably helped. I'd actually eat that cake.

Oh MY!

Nice to know you're so influential to this day.

I am amazed that so many people would do this. Guess they are trying to be funny, but it isn't. It is just plain mean. This, from a woman who is as sarcastic as they come.

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterCarol

I love how some of them are so cheery and happy with rainbows and confetti, and others are so dark with knives and dead armadillos.

Goodbye cakes when someone leaves a job...really?

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterMemere

I want a dead armadillo on my next birthday cake. I'll be 60.

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterNancy

Am I the only one who's disturbed by the brown one with the red icing? It looks like a pimple that needs popping. Like, that's the symbolism; that person's coworkers are going to pop them out of their lives.

For Heather, my high school's colors are red and gold. Perhaps it was a going-away cake for a former teacher there? (I'd find out in college that people from a neighboring high school thought of us as the hot dog school, since we looked like ketchup and mustard.)

I remember the original, the credits at the bottom of the post have a link.
As for why? I am pretty sure this is one of those "someone is leaving for a new job"
Deals and they are being funny with the going away cake since they are being abandoned by their coworker.

August 6, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

On a day that I'm contemplating leaving my job because of the unprofessional attitude of nearly everyone there, from the latest hire to the boss, I think I would turn the tables and leave them with a cake reading, "I hope you fail. You're dead to me now." It's been that kind of day.

I want that Halloween cake lol. These cakes are all cute..makes me afraid of what the wreckerators are going to destroy next.

Those are work good bye cakes. My place always does rainbows/unicorns/CareBears.

The armadillo cake nails it. Safari Ltd sells plastic armadillos.

August 7, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterFordPrefect313

For everyone asking about the armadillo figurine. I believe Amazon sells them. I found one years ago in a Texas theme store.

August 7, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterDany

What the bleep is wrong with people? "I hope you fail". Why not just say something like "I hope you get cancer and slowly waste away"?

Scotty... beam me up. This planet sucks.

August 7, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterDancing with Lasagna

Hubby had me make one of these for a coworker but it was all in good fun. The guys he worked with all had a sense of humor and thought it was hilarious.

Side note: it had a unicorn in space on it.

Is this the new way mobsters learn they’re on the hit list, a “You’re Dead To Us Now” cake?

August 8, 2018 | Unregistered CommenterLilysmama

so much bitterness, anger, & i don't know what.

August 11, 2018 | Unregistered Commenterarchersangel

I am just shocked that all but two of the cakes spelled you're correctly 😮
