Sunday Sweets: Wedding Towers

Don't you love how the wedding cake has evolved over the past 10 years? So much color and texture and personality! I'm really liking the modern tower look lately, too, like this:
(By Iced N' Frosted in Houston, Texas)
I mean, WOWIE.
This one's a little more traditional, but still has that sleek column look going:
(By Shannon Bond Cake Design in Kansas)
Look at those textures! Tissue thin ruffles, a watercolor fade, and pops of metallic gold? YES.
Of course not all columns have to be round:
(By Have Some Cake in West Midlands, UK)
This one reaches new heights (heh) with more incredible textures: love those stamped tiles.
I've never seen a cake shaped quite like this one - it almost looks like a hammered gold vase on top:
(By Nana Rose Cake in Dubai)
And oh, those colors!
Or maybe you'd prefer a cool and classic white-on-white?
(By De La Creme Creative Studio in St. Louis)
The hexagon pattern and shapes are so perfect, so clean - and that floral swag has me swooning.
Does it get any more classic than black and white stripes?
(By The Mischief Maker in Kentucky)
Nope. What else can be so whimsical and stylish at the same time? Plus the flowers really make it.
Here comes my only "short stack" today - which still proves you can have the column cake look even for a smaller wedding:
(By Sophia Fox in Portugal)
I'm such a sucker for hand-painted cakes, you guys, and that oversized, offset flower on top? SO GOOD.
Speaking of hand-painted pretties, LOOK:
(By Nasa Mala Zavrzlama in Serbia)
It doesn't get any more dramatic - or romantic - than this! Doesn't the bottom tier look like suede?
More drama ahead, get those sunglasses out:
(By Cakelava in Las Vegas)
...cuz it's so SHINY!
I'm digging the gold leaf leaves; so deliciously over the top with all those delicate pink flowers.
Aha, speaking of delicate and pink:
(By Kek Couture in Istanbul)
LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY.
I don't know where to begin, the draped "fabric," the gilded molding, or - ermergersh - the floating butterflies! Let's just say I caught myself humming "So This Is Love" from Cinderella.... to a cake.
I hope you guys enjoyed today's wedding lineup! Happy Sunday!

OMG such talent! :O
Black and white stripes are classic for prisoners. Is that an ironic joke on marriage, or a reference to the groom's conviction for securities fraud?
I don't know... the last cake is exquisitely done, but the image of a decapitated lady is not appealing.
These are all amazing, as usual! I have two favorites: the Nasa Mala Zavizlama in Serbia....because of the tree! It has *movement* in the leaves that feels BREEZY!
Then, the last one, by Kek Couture. The way the heart top is wound with ribbon (and butterflies),seems to be demonstrating a "TA-DAH!" sort of exuberance, as if to say, " Here I am! Let's have a wedding! "
Spectacular!! ๐
how do they serve the tall layers? does anyone have photos of these cakes cut?
Another Triple Crown this weekend, Justify! So please hand over the horse themed Sunday Sweets, folks!

I also thought of Cinderella looking at the last cake. So beautiful!
Gorgeous! I love the hand painted, watercolor flowers! And, the black and white is so stylish. Purrrrty!
Am I the only one who thinks the art work on the first cake is reminiscent of Jenny Lawson's (aka The Bloggess) work? I found her blog from reading this blog, her free hand drawings are so intricate and evocative but I never thought I would see something similar on a cake. Extremely well done, bravo or brava to the decorator.
Bea, I am SO with you on that! It would be SO "justified"....!
These are just so beautiful!
