Sunday Sweets: Easily Distracted

It's SO easy to get distracted when I'm looking for Sunday Sweets.
I'll be looking at a gorgeous marbled cake, like this beauty:

...mesmerized by the swoopy swirls, and then --
SQUIRREL!
No, really, squirrels. Pastel ones:
(By Faithfully Cakes in Pennsylvania)
Aren't they adorable?
Then...
WOW! Is that Jupiter?
(By Frosted Art Bakery and Studio in Texas)
Talk about stellar - look at those rings! And I love the sugar rock base.
Wait. I wasn't looking for planet cakes. What was I researching?
Hmmm.
I'm stumped.
(By Natalie Madison's Art is in Cakes in Arkansas)
But it sure is a pretty one; all hand painted!
Hang on...
Are those cupcakes?
(By baked by jin in California)
They look so succulent. 😉
Oops, I did it again, didn't I? Y'know, Pinterest can lead you around in circles.
Fabulous, abstract circles:
(By Historias del Ciervo, Columbia)
I love the pastels with black.
But I'm off topic again. Seriously, it's enough to curl your -- uh --
Hair?
(By Avalon Cakes School of Sugar Art in Colorado)
Ha!
I wonder, if Medusa looks in the mirror, does she turn herself to stone?
Speaking of stone, did you know "concrete" cakes are a thing now?
(By Greenbird Cake Studio in Australia)
That's all buttercream! How?!
And why is this llama wearing sunglasses?
(By Dulcefina in Peru)
Then again, who cares? It's adorable.
That's why it's OK to get a little distracted once in a while.
There are so many gorgeous cakes out there, you never know where they're going to lead.
(By Artisan Cake Company in Oregon)
But you can be sure they'll open up an ocean of possibilities.
And that's sweet.
Happy Sunday!

In love with the Medusa, Jupiter and succulent cakes. :D
That Medusa cake appears to defy gravity! (I tried to fit a pun in here but I got nothin').
Yes to the Medusa question. That’s how she was defeated, by seeing her reflection in the hero’s shield. At least in some versions of the story.
Thanks Sharyn! Loved those cakes.
My first choice for favorite Sunday Sweets was the Jupiter cake (how awesome!) but I love, love, LOVE that concrete cake.
That last one is absolutely stunning! I'm guessing the waves are made of sea glass colored sugar?
That seashell cake is really gorgeous!
LOVE that Medusa cake! Fantastic work.
I would like a stuffed toy version of the llama! I scrolled through these cakes and said WOW over and over! I enjoy Sunday Sweets!
Cakewrecks is one of the best distractions in my daily life... and these are gorgeous!
Wow, that Jupiter is stellar! I love the water on the last one, but I really want a bite out of the cute llama cake. The fur/wool is so perfect with the random piping tips used...never thought of that approach but it really works here. And can I just say that not only do those beautiful succulent cupcakes deserve an award, the inventor of that cupcake box does as well. Those finger holes are sheer genius! I teach school and have had more cupcakes served to me with a finger and thumb gouge in each side from lifting out of the bakery carton than I care to recall. That’s brilliant!
