Sunday Sweets: Spooky Elegant Halloween Cakes
October 28, 2018 It's the most wonderful time of the year, cake lovers: that blessedly spooky season when we can shop for Halloween and Christmas decorations all at the same time.
I'm getting ahead of myself, though; we still have a few days before Halloween, which means it's time to glam it up with spooky sweet wedding cakes, like this gorgeous Gothic number:

Jaw: dropped. The more I look, the more I see to love: the hidden damask pattern, the velvety green ombre, and that intricate lace-wrapped base. AHHH-mazing, and the perfect wedding cake for any modern Morticia and Gomez. ;)

I normally don't like doll cakes, but that Marie Antoinette is wonderful!
Such gorgeous cakes! And they brought back something I'd nearly forgotten -- some years back, a house around the corner from where I lived in L.A. was turned, almost overnight, into an Addams Family-style house for a movie shoot! They painted it, put up a "stone" wall, a tall haunted tower and cupolas, a dead tree or two in the yard, and it was just fantastic how what had been a normal old house suddenly looked like something that was old and dark and delightfully spooky! These cakes would all have been perfect wedding cakes for a bride in that house. Thanks for reminding me of a lovely memory!
They all really are truly gorgeous. I can't help but imagine black teeth, lips, and gums when the bride and groom smile for the camera. All that black frosting and gum paste does a number on your mouth -- to say nothing of the blue poop for days and days!! HAHAHA!!
The Witch of the West liked poppies too.
