Sunday Sweets: WINTER HAS COME

I live in Florida for a few reasons, my friends, none of which include having to wear two pairs of pants and 6 layers of sweaters. Indoors.
Yes, it's a frigid 67 degrees F in my office right now, and yes, I am a pansy. That's why I live in Florida. (See? Full circle.)
Anyway, if anything will make these frigid conditions bearable, it's a) my electric blanket, and b) some pretty winter cakes.
SO LET'S DO THIS.
Shining, shimmering, splendid! And Aladdin quotes aside, that misty forest silhouette is positively dreamy.

It says something when you start to daydream about wearing the fondant mittens. But seriously, how cute are these??
These soft watercolors are perfection. And did you notice the oh-so-subtle color stripe on top?
Ermergersh, you guys. Er. MERGERSH. Look!
Squeeee!
I love how the narwhal looks like he's policing the penguin. Like, "One at a time, now, no rough-housing!" And do you see the penguin covering its eyes? Ack! SO CUTE.
More icy elegance:

It's like a fire made of icicles, or a feathery column of smoke! Now, raise your hand if you want to see how they cut it. [raises hand]
Oooh, and here's an Aurora Borealis... in cake!

Gorgeous!
More cuteness for those planning a baby shower this winter:

I really like the lime green and gray combo.
This one looks like a porcelain painting:

You almost expect it to light up from the inside, right?
Ok, I know, I KNOW - this next one is undeniably Christmassy. But look!

Pastel sparkly prettiness!
And the deer kind of look like patronuses from Harry Potter, so, you know... BONUS.
I saved the best for last, though.
BEHOLD! It's me, in cake form!
(By Sweet Obsessions Cake Co.)
Just add about 5 layers of sweaters on top. :D
Happy Sunday, everyone! Stay warm out there!

Aww :D
The best cake was the Aurora Borealis. But the baby shower cake I'd find hard to eat. Who would eat the baby!?!?!
I had to look up 67F (it's 19C) - that's the temperature we keep our house at in the winter! 19C feels pretty balmy when it's -24 outside. Stay warm!
Beautiful cakes. I would have swapped puffins for penguins (for geographical reasons), but those penguins are pretty cute! [Seriously though, can we make puffins the new thing? They are adorable!]
Am I the only one who is thinking, but penguins don't live with narwhal and polar bears?
When I saw it was winter cakes I said to myself: "Penguins!" and I wasn't disappointed. Those were great.
Oh - 67? *gigglesnort* yes, you are a wimp but we still love 'ya Jen.
Omg, those knitted mittens... Love them! Thanks to them, I have spent the last hour and half looking at knitted cakes, trying to think of an excuse to make one!
Did I miss where you told how that feather cake was cut? Because I suspect it had to have been sliced by a piercing, icy-cold north wind!
I wonder if it WAS served chilled... =^-.-^=brrrrilliant sweets.
Am I correct in thinking that the mittens cake was created for 2015, per the squiggle?
I love all of them so much.
Obviously the red fondant mittens cake is for New Year's. The string connecting the two forms 2015.
Oh! The aurora one! and the sparkly, icy ones! And the baby! These are spectacular!-- also, yes, how did they cut "Frozen"? (Carefully?)
Eeek! The "icicle fire" cake is brilliant! Yay, something uncommon with fondant(?)! More of that, please.
#8: "It'll nearly be like a picture print by Currier and Ives..."
The christmasy one would just have to remove the christmas tree and it would be a winter cake. So pretty
I would like to announce that its a balmy 29°F in Montana right now. In other words, its a tropical heat wave.
I choose to believe this about the penguins with the northern hemisphere critters.<http://www.washington.edu/news/2007/06/05/hitchin-a-ride-stray-penguins-probably-reached-northern-waters-by-fishing-boat/>
I completely understand about needing to wear a sweater (or two) at 67 degrees as I also live in Florida. 67 might be balmy or warm or heck, even hot for some people but for us - it is winter! The owl is absolutely my favorite. And just how in the heck do your cut that icicle cake?
Maybe the polar bears went visiting. Or the penguins just got lost.
Have to let you know that you have my sympathies. Over here in Hawaii, it's our winter and the temp at night has dropped down to 58 out here in Central Oahu. Brrr...
Peep, who would eat the baby? Whoever gets that piece. Burp!
It's just CAKE. (Or fondant.)
The little flag on the penguin cake reminded me of Whack the Penguin!
it's still out there. I checked

I love the Aurora Borealis cake! At my house it was just -52°F. :)
