Sunday Sweets Glues Some Gears On It

Has it been long enough since my last Steampunk Sweets?
Yes?
WOOHOO!!!
So it's no secret I'm a huge fan of steampunk, and I love that bakers continue to churn out rivet-licious, copper-clad, and clockwork styled beauties - like this!
Great grinding gears, LOOK at all that detail!
But never let it be said that steampunk doesn't have a softer side:
(By Sweet Janis)
Steampunk Alice and that lacy top hat are getting ALL the girly sighs over here. Ahhhh.
Steampunk-themed weddings are still on the rise, and bakers have come up with some brilliant ways to meld the traditional with the mechanical:
(By Extreme Bakeover)
How clever is this?!
What's that, you want color?
I'll give you color:
(By Andrea's Sweet Cakes)
Woot woot! Andrea never disappoints; those rich purples and pinks are rocking my world.
Now, how about an adorable clockwork owl?
(By Het bonte taartje)
Or a whimsical patchwork rocket?
Here's another spell-binder from that same bakery:
WOWIE.
Keep staring; I guarantee you'll keep finding more things to love!
There's also the subtle approach, for those who don't want gears and goggles:
(By Crazy Cakes)
Technically this is probably more Victorian or Baroque, but it would be perfect in a steampunk wedding, don't you think?
And this one works in some gears and tiny portholes, but still in a somewhat subtle way:
(By Bespoke Cakes)
Or, hey, FORGET SUBTLE:
(By Artisan Cake Company)
Look closely; there's actually dry ice "smoke" pouring out of the dirigible *and* the lower pipelines!
You rock ON with your bad self, Artisan Cake Company! YEAH!
And finally, another colorful gem, this time with one of the most original steampunk designs I've seen yet:
Check out those oh-so-fun tentacles! And the ombre waves!
And look at the detailing on the top compass:
Plus those geared support struts? And the little windows? It's like an abstract steampunk tree house... over the ocean. LOVE IT.
Have a steamy Sunday, everyone!

Such gorgeous cakes!!!
Aw, man... As pretty as these cakes are, I had really hoped on a Terry Pratchett Tribute version od Sunday Sweets. Maybe next week? *wink* *nudge* ;)
How can these possibly be cakes? I am awestruck by the beauty, creativity and talent shown in these cakes.
Cake number 6 looks like a painting. I had to look really hard to convince myself it was cake! Jen you rock, I wait patiently for 2.30pm to come round here in England for my Cake Wrecks/Sunday Sweets hit. I am currently doing my annual work thru of all the archives cos it makes me so happy. I have been known to cry over some of the SS cakes. BTW I am 55 & itching to have a go at my first display. Keep up the good work.
Yowza Wowza powza! Those cakes are outstanding!
I can absolutely see Tom Petty wearing top hats #4, #7, and #11. ....and, what IS that flying, steaming, dirigible thing, anyway? It looks like something Pink Floyd would've traveled around in! These are fun as well as sweet! Thanks, jen; now my eyes have healed enough to see more of the regular stuff during the wreckdays.
=^~.~^=
Cake #7 is rocking my world!!! I totally want the adorable little octopus as a figurine or a plushie- it's makin my eyeballs melt from cute overload!
These are fantastic. More w8ris of art than edible cake. Gorgeous!
Re my previous post, it was meant to say my first cosplay. Damn you auto correct.
As much as I love the chuckles I get from the regular wreckage, the Sunday Sweets are my favorite! Thanks for curating and sharing so much awesomeness :)
*picks jaw up off the floor* WOW.
There's only one clockwork owl - Bubo from (the original!) Clash of the Titans. I would LOVE to see him in cake form! (And I second the Terry Pratchett request.)
I agree with Cakey-Bakey! Terry Pratchett Sunday Sweets please!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who would be perfectly happy having an Eberron-themed steampunk-y fantasy wedding...if I wasn't already married, that is...
Why is it that when gear wheels are used for decoration, they are always placed so that in reality they would lock solid and be unable to turn?
Steampunk, but not cake-related--we recently went to Cirque du Soleil's Kurios Cabinet of Curiosities show. Thought of you, Jen, as the setting for their acts is very much steam-punk inspired. A fun show!
Wow, these are works of art, not just cakes. Love your Sunday sweets.
Myy 60th is coming up in November, i would love the Alice on, but with brown hair. Until I saw Disneys Alice I always thought Alice had hair like me,
Hey, Jen, didn't you have a steampunk White Rabbit costume a couple years ago? That Alice in Wonderland cake made me think of it. These are such awesome cakes.
The last one reminds me of Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow! :D
How did I miss that adorable owl the last time I looked at this post! So perfect! =-)
I love the idea of steampunk cakes but I wonder if they are edible.
