What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

What's Our Vector, Victor?

Kim H. asked for a bowling themed cake for her son's birthday, but apparently the baker thought she said Boeing.*

How do I know?

Well, I'm just winging it here, but the answer seems pretty plane:

Now, I know what you're thinking:
"Surely you can't be serious!"

Well I am serious, and don't call me Shirley.

Hey Kim H., do you like movies about gladiators?

[*They were near Boeing's manufacturing plant, so I guess it wasn't THAT big of a leap.]

Well, even if she didn't get what she ordered, it is at least a pretty cake, and not a wreck. Be grateful for small favours.

What's a wreck? A cake that is mis-decorated beyond all resemblance to the original. But we can't talk about that right now.

…Hmmmm, I guess that means that most bakers have their heads in the clouds.

… and people call me Shirley all the time.

It's a shame she didn't actually ask for a Boeing cake, because let's be fair, otherwise, it's super cute instead of wrecky. :)

It may not be what she asked for, but at least it's actually well done. That's one super cute plane.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit bowling...

Looks like that baker picked the wrong week to quit drinking.

At least most 4-year-olds like airplanes.

What is so hard about drawing bowls on the cake,,,, What,? Oh nevermind

Love CakeWrecks, but can't call this one a wreck. :) I live nearing a Boeing plant also, so I would have just assumed the parents worked there (had I been the baker).

I was having a simply rotten day, so this post incorporating my FAVORITE comedic movie of all times has snapped me out of my funk. Brilliant, and thank you!

And if it's not Boeing, I'm not going (said this KC-135 pilot).

Hi Shirley! Nice to meet you! I'm Sirius.

Good luck....we're all counting on you!

I suspect that cake was a hit. What do four-year-old know about bowling? But airplanes, yay!

The cake itself is cute, but it "shirley" has nothing to do with bowling.
As an aside, I cannot hear the song Stayin' Alive without thinking of the girl scout scene in Airplane rather than John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever. :)

And the cake is sooo cute! Still sooooooo wrong! lol!!

One of my favorite movie quotes of all time.

December 1, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKatrina

I think the cake is cute even if it isn't what they ordered lol. I would hate to see a bowling wreck.. though I know I have seen a few of them before.

December 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Honestly, I like it. Bowling seems more like a topic for older kids or bowling league adults anyway.

December 2, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Kim H got her wish, those are white bowling balls in the sky!

December 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterCarrieAnn

Welp....

The airplane is on point, and adorable.

I wonder what idiot took the phone order.

I hope mom counted her blessings. So many aspects of this story could have made it much MUCH worse.
