What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Cakes
by Carl Sandingsugarburg

The cakes come
on little cat feet.

They sit, looking
messy and misspelled,
begging you to buy.
You move on.

you can never go wrong with cat pictures. the white cat with the crown is giving a Queen Victoria we are not amused vibe.

At least there was no "i" in "Tema!"

November 24, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterEd

Ah, yes. The American Educational System. Best in the world, they tell me. GO TEMA!

Poor Dina couldn't even get a properly frosted cake. That's piping on just bare cake, with icing around the edge it looks like.

Cakes and kitties! A perfect storm of cuteness keeping me from getting my TG prep done! Thanks, y'all.

Hay Dude! cake... Perfect cake for a variety of scarecrow celebrations.

On top of drawing funny illustrations, you provide facepalm cat (and bunny) pics! Thank you so much, John!

As they say on my other favorite blog, CuteOverload: Kewt!!!!

Bwah SuBee! Carl Sandingsugarburg!!!

The cakes are so bad
They cause animal facepalms.
Kitties need a hug.

After all those LOLCats captions, where do they come off facepawing at these wrecks?

November 24, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterClassic Steve

Makes me wish I could go to a pro football game just so I could make a "Go Tema" sign out of that photo. Priceless!

Cats and cake wrecks. What's not to love?

November 24, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAmy H.

I love them all, wrecks and cats - but it was that double-face-palm bunny at the end that made me burst out laughing!

November 24, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterGoryDetails

i wonder if there is a law where you can't discriminate against hiring someone as a cake decorator if they are dyslexic... go tema!

1. The hay dude is the guy in the barn with the pitchfork keeping the stalls full. Sometimes we just gotta celebrate him.

2. This was obviously written by someone from da Bronx. He loined well in school. He didn't just stand on the cownah looking for quawtahs to buy cawfee with.

3. This was written by a gay man. In our language it is pronounced kaweeen!

4. This was to celebrate the launching of an off-brand of adult diapers (not to be confused with Tena).

5. The baker was from.... no this was to celebrate..... no this is an example.....no, uh, ok I got nothing

6. I don't know. Looks gud to me.

7. It's about time someone gave a cake to my welcum. Its been feeling lonely and neglected for month's now. Everyone's welcum needs a cake now and then.

I love the double face palm bunny! So cute! John you made my day. And @SuBee love the poem. You get 3 snaps up in Z-formation.

True Story: In the 70s, the Sandwich Lions Club on Cape Cod, of which my dad was a member, donated 3 lovely benches around scenic Shawme Pond downtown. They were carved, 'Sandwich Loins Club'. Not one person noticed it....not during the carving or installation. No one who saw or sat on the benches noticed. One of the members' sons, who was in like 3rd grade at the time, pointed it out. Needless to say everyone in town had quite a good laugh and the boards were replaced with the correct spelling.

Hay! I think Bipthday is my new favorite word. Go Cakewrecks Tema! This post was so gud--thany you for all the laughs.

I quite enjoyed that story. Kind of like the Emperors New Clothes.

HAZARD AHEAD! I felt my IQ drop several points after viewing these wrecks.

FYI you guys..."knockout.tv" has an ad on here doing the autoplay thing, I know you guys are pretty strict about that so, I figured I'd give y'all a heads up on it...Thanks for the cats and cake wrecks...t'was sublime! I love you guys, even though I'm working now and don't comment much anymore, I still read you at my desk in the cubicle jungle every day and my coworkers always wonder why I'm laughing so early in the morning! I don't tell them, I just let them wonder

I lost it at the Qeueen Kitty!

@JoJo:

That reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy's story about how, when he was in the 2nd grade, one of his uncles painted "MALE" on the family mailbox as a joke "and NOBODY got it." He says it's a true story, showing that he's a redneck by birth. Guess it doesn't matter if you live on Cape Cod, "you might be a redneck if..."

LOVE THE BUNNY! Love the kitties! The cakes...not so much.

November 24, 2015 | Unregistered Commenters.marie

Oh man this post made my day lol. Heck the cats are so much cuter than those scary wrecks any day! Can't stop the laughing and the awwing at all the cute.

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

I would so order the GO TEMA! cake for our Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. But maybe without the footballs. Unless the UT Vols are playing that weekend, then the footballs are good.

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterTriciaL

Bonus points for placing the wreck that looks like a dirty litter box first! Before I scrolled down to the cute cat, that's what I thought you meant by "cats react."

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKelly

Looks like I found my new FB cover photo ...

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterDina

in defense of my alma mater, the school's own signage had messages cheering on our 'Loins' at least once that i remember, if this is McClellan of Little Rock, AR fame. given the school property's anatomically correct lion statuary, i really have to wonder which spelling represented our mascot the best...

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterjm

Incidentally, I once encountered a poorly translated menu in Costa Rica that listed "tender lion" as an entree.

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterWildaBeast

I can't imagine why the bakery decided to put a football on the cake for my parents' friend Tema.

And thanks for the bunny. It's the cutest thing EVAH!

November 25, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJane

Just have to say - it's been about two weeks now, and my son and I are STILL shouting out "Bonus Bunny Double Face Palm!" at odd moments and cracking up. =-)
