What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

These Are Not The Droids We're Looking For

I sense a great disturbance in the Force, my friends.

...as if millions of geeks cried out in horror, and then all their non-geek friends made fun of them.

Still, at least they didn't mix it up with Star Trek this time.

Thanks to Carol L. for coming to the snark side.

That cake has gone over to the dark side

This one's for you, Renee:

(Warning: You'll NEVER get rid of the ear worm.)

Star-Walls
Star-Walls
Tickled by the notion
Causing a commotion
'Cause their cake's not awesome
Star-Walls
Star Walls...

Now that's a "war cake."

Well, I sense a great disturbance in the farce...

Come to the dork side, we have cake.

Forgive my poor eyesight, but is it a CCC? I can't tell if the brownish-black front is a row of cupcake papers or just a weirdly shaped box border, even after enlarging the photo.

Theoretically, there's a magical parallel universe in which CCCs serve a legit purpose: because they can be arranged by skilled bakers into fun shapes more easily than a sculpted sheet cake. But I seriously don't get the point of making a sheet shape from rows and rows of cupcakes, if that's what's happening here. :o So lost...

Well at least Wall-E and EVE could at least pass as Star Wars droids......

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterIsolder74

But I love WALL-E and EVE! Can't they join the Star Wars party? Let's give the baker some credit--maybe they were trying to do a Star Wars/WALL-E mashup.

These aren't the droids you're looking for...

Sorry, no crying, just insane laughing. I think I would still pay for this one because it's so wrong it's hysterical!

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMaureen

I just... **sigh**
Temp #2 should be here in an hour. I really hope he doesn't have "Cake decorator" on his resume.
@Sharyn ~ So mean...

They are both owned by Disney now. Maybe it's foreshadowing a crossover.

@ms_xeno, I don't think it is a CCC - it looks like the brown front is scalloped icing (it also extends around the sides and back of the cake). Plus the label on the package says it is a 1/4 sheet cake. Of course we know how "correct" wreckerators can be with "labels" and "decorating".

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterCybrczch

How do we know this isn't just a Jedi mind trick?
@ ms_xeno: I think it is a CCC; unless that, too, is a mind trick.
Dang! This baker either needs to nerd-up or is one awesome Jedi!

(It's the last photo in audio form, just in case anyone is worried about being sent to a spam site or something!)

Though this was also followed by insane laughter... I think the dork side may have grabbed me!

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterLeesa

I don't think it's a ccc. That's the black shell border humping its way across the front.

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRobin

*sigh*

This makes me want to cry. Is it really that hard? Really?

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterNagzilla

I hate to confess this but I could see myself doing this on purpose. Maybe for the birthday of a friend who tends to argue Star Wars minutiae until one contemplates a trip into the Sarlacc pit as a blessing. Yeah. I might do this.

This one hurts, physically hurts, to see. *runs from room crying out in horror.

"It's a CAKE!" <--- lame attempt at Star Wars pun

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterErica

We had WALL-E & Eve as toppers on our wedding cake. It was purple with rainbow gumdrops and many glow-in-the-dark aliens... should've had some Star Wars stuff on there, too, as it was a big mish-mash sci-fi/fantasy wedding. My spouse had a blast making the cake!

January 8, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterRJ

(Über Facepalm) I know that both WALL-E and Star Wars are now owned by Disney but this is nutzo-crazo!!

What a WALL-E! I can't beliEVE it!

January 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterSharon

Lol!! At least they got sprinkles though. I bet they figured no one would notice the difference..boy were they wrong hehe.

January 9, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Belated thanks to Cybrczch, GingerSnap, and Robin for adding more layers (or borders) to the puzzle. :/

January 9, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterms_xeno

Well, Disney owns star wars and pixar. So maybe they were thinking outside of the box???? Racking my brain, and that's the best I can come up with. Lol

January 9, 2015 | Unregistered Commenteranonymous

Who shot first - Wall-E or Eve?

January 10, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterLisa P.

Well, since Disney now owns Star Wars... I guess it's only a matter of time before we actually see a "cross over".
Actually, maybe this wasn't a mistake. Maybe this was an intentional criticism of Disney's ownership of Star Wars.

Yes! I choose to believe this was done on purpose as an acerbic meta-statement!

Well done, to whoever executed this; this decorative gibe; this frosted mockery; this saccharine lampoon!
You, sir/madam, are a satiric genius!!

January 11, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterNerfbomb

That Darth Vader pic would have been more awesome with the caption "DO NOT WANT!" (Backstroke of the West, anyone?). Still a hilarious and epic fail cake, though. *grin*
