You're probably expecting one of those traditional lamb cakes now, but after extensive research I've determined even the pros can't make them look all that great. ("Shredded coconut sheep dogs for everyone!!")

I remember getting a new pastel dress each year for Easter - one time with a big white sun bonnet, even, uhthankyouverramuch - and this last cake is like all those frilly dresses and bonnets and lace-trimmed socks all magically mixed together:

They are all adorable. Thank you for including some fondant free cakes. I tend to forget that a skilled decorator can do marvelous things with ordinary butter cream. I love the carrots and the polka dotted bunny cookie.
I couldn't be any more in love with the swirly lamb cake and the bunny/egg cake. Easter is the best time for sweets.

I think all of these cakes are amazing. Look at those flowers! And carrots! And eggs! But, ok, I might have squeed like a little girl over the rotund bunny with the bent ear, the bunny logo shirt, and the carrots in the crushed chocolate-cookie dirt with not a crumb out of place. Maybe just a little.
there is something about the red bow and the big blue eyes on the lamb cake that is just so adorable.
Omigoodness, I want just that "egg" house, only bigger. It's reminiscent to me of those cottages you find in the Alps. Love love love.

I love the bunny cakes - my youngest daughter's nickname is Bunny (because as a newborn she looked so totally adorable in a bunny-decorated outfit) and I know she would love one of these for her birthday!
Darn you Diddleymaz, you beat me to it! I'm a New Zealander and just had a good snortle imagining "furry sheep". I envisioned a corriedale crossed with an opossum (the New Zealand kind, not the American kind..Google it) being all fluffy and growly trying to balance on a fence post...

I am not fond of fondant (no pun intended) at all but do understand why it is used so much more these days, instead of buttercream. With that being said. Since you mentioned them... What's cuter on Easter than little girls with socks so frilly their feet look like a cross between My Little Ponies and clydesdales walking into Sunday school with little boys in pastel suspenders?
These are indeed cute. I have to say though: The aqua & white ribbon thingy around the big pink egg looks a lot like a garter belt....which is a little weird.
Those incredibly detailed pansies are exquisite!

diddleymaz beat me to it. I'd imagine a furry sheep would make a good wreck though, unless it were one of those cute sheep-in-a-wolf/dog-costume kind of cakes.
I'm not a pro at cake decorating, but I'm pretty good. I think I'm going to try that last cake... but ONLY the basket that's on top. (I have no hope of making the whole thing.) I'll use the bottom half of my giant cupcake pan.
The handle will be the hardest part. Would gum paste be best? It hardens rather well.
Looking through these pictures, I've come to a decision -- when it comes to eating cake, I'd rather have a Cake Wreck. As long as it's tasty, of course. Seriously, these are too pretty/adorable to cut into! I would be crying if I had to cut into one of those bunnies! It would be a traumatic cake experience!
the cakes are SOooO lovely... As a person that used to raise bunnies, however; I ALWAYS get annoyed when people put Pads on bunny-feet. Bunnies have no jelly-bean pads like kitties do ; just thick fur and long nails...
Somehow artists always put them on there anyway... Is that because they don't know, or because nobody ELSE knows so it's easier to just do it than explain it or make people wonder if it's a foot or not? Makes me Sad, as a former bunny-mom; cuz I love me some bunnies.
