Sunday Sweets: The Love Connection

With Valentines Day coming up, I thought I'd inspire you guys with some Sweet declarations of love:
(By Cakes by Elisa)
They won't all be puns, I promise. :)
This crisp modern design says it all:
(By Eat Cake Be Merry)
LOVE.
Or maybe you're feeling more old-school?
(By Manveer Cake Couture)
Be still my heart. Look at that piping!! The cake board alone is a work of art!
Oh, and in case you need a reminder:
(By Cake My Day)
All you need is love.
And a fork. NOMZ.
This is too cute, guys. Seriously.
(By Planet Cake)
"Tweethearts?" STAHP IT.
(I need this cake to be for a couple who met on Twitter. NEED it. So let's just all believe that's what happened, ok?)
OooOOooh, retro tattoo art!
(By Nicole of Tattoo-Cakes)
Those colors! And the aging! Even the cake board looks like a painting. [dreamy sigh]
Now for some vintage-style creamy goodness:
And a classic black, white, and red:
Who'd have thought pink, green, and brown would work?
(By Erica O'Brien Cake Design)
Funky modern cute - I like it!
This lock-and-key design is simply breathtaking:
Such a great use of textures, too; see the damask stencil in the blue?
And finally, a bright-and-cheerful design sure to make you smile:
(By Gorgeous Cakes)
Old-style typography with fun modern colors? YES, PLEASE.
Hope you loved the love cakes, guys! Curious which bakers in your area have been featured here on Sweets? Then check out our Sunday Sweets Directory!

Is cake #3 buttercream? That would make it even more amazing. I think it is my favorite but the "tweet hearts" is a close second.
Soooo pretty! I think my favorites are the "tweethearts" cake and that last one with the letters. So cool! :D
D'awwwww :D
The pink, green, and brown one made me think of Girl Scouts. I also loved the lock and key one. Ooooh, preeeeeetty. (But then, I've always been a sucker for Baby Blue.)
Tweethearts! Must have! DH and I met while birdwatching!
Pink, green and brown work fabulously on the quilt that's on my bed.. Not sure why you'd think that's an odd color combination. Think dogwood trees.. :)
And why would you have skeleton faces on the "All You Need is Love" cake? Sort of weird..
Is the 7th top tier (Vintage style creamy goodness) tilted to the right? Or am I a bit lop-sided this morning?
@tracylee:
No; I see it, too, now that you mentioned it. I'd be willing to take it home and fix it for them...
=^~.~^=
"This crisp modern design says it all:" - this cake has to be the most wonderful cake I've seen on this site, and you've posted so many absolutely beautiful cakes. Definitely my #1 favourite design now! Wow.
No. 2 for me.
The third cake reminds me of a piece of Wedgwood Jasperware. While I'm not totally a purple fan, I can't argue with the craftsmanship (craftspersonship?) - It's simply stunning. Also partial to the Tweethearts cake. And while not a tattoo fan, I love the tattoo cake (flower+Love+bird). The colors and aging effect are very appealing.
The other cakes are lovely as well.
@Evie_M That kind of piping is typically done with royal icing, which makes it even more impressive, to me.
The first and the last ones have my heart. :)
Adorable cakes. I've never thought of putting green, pink, and brown together but it totally works making an adorable cake.
I thought the same thing about the "tweethearts" cake, if the couple met through Twitter. Awww! Okay, I'm going to barf now from the sweetness, but worth it!
Lookit those bees! Adorable.
In a word...Love-ly....
Yay for #3! I'm a huge fan of old school, Lambeth-style piping techniques, and that one is beautifully done. Huzzah! Thanks for featuring it, Jen!
I don't get the blue part of the lock & key cake. Is it supposed to look like a bad blue plaster job? The flowers are very pretty though.
Wow. Just, wow. *sigh*
RE: the skulls on the All You Need Is Love Cake - could have been a Halloween or Dias de Muertas wedding cake - or some people just like the Goth-style look of it. In any case, it makes the cake very individual and funky cool!
I'm loving the 3rd one down. Mostly because it's purple but also because I'm insanely jealous of the patience and steady hand it took to create that.
Just amazing!
I love this set. Nothing stupidly trendy, just fun ideas and fabulous workmanship. I could never pick one favorite, though the tweerhearts made me smile the most. Awwww. And that rose is just gorgeous. I love how the rose and its leaves echo the colors of the birds. The cupids are not much to my taste, but that piping is astounding. And outstanding. Usually there are a few cakes I just don't think much of, but these are all amazing.
This might be my favorite Sunday Sweets post ever! Stunningly beautiful cakes.
I love the vintage-style cake (7th down) - such beautiful flowers!
Just caught up on these. Love them!
Oh, these are so sweet. The lock & key cake stole my heart.
