Learned in kindergarten, not forgotten almost 60 years later.
The second to last cake is just SOOOOOOOOO cute! They're all beautiful, but the little sun-topped cupcakes around the edge just push it into Adorable Overload!
My father always taught me "Richard of York gained battles in vain", which I still use to remember the colour spectrum.
That indigo cake nearly put me away.

I think it's "Mayra" as on the 5th cupcake from the right. (The little bows throw it off a bit, but they're just the "tail" of the a's.)
@Alison: This is the way I remember it, from many moons ago: "Red and yellow and pink and green/purple and orange and blue/I can sing a rainbow/sing a rainbow/sing a rainbow, too." (But the colors aren't in order in that version, either,) =^-.-^=

These are marvelous! I'm loving the fade on the orange cake; it is so subtle it sort of sneaks up on you. Those hand-painted peonies are phenomenal. And the prism cake -- is it too much to hope that the crystals are made of sugar? Either way, it is a stunning cake (and photograph)!
Of course, all the flowers remind me of john(thoJ)'s "daisy" post, so thanks for the extra giggle today as I get ready to go back to 200 teenagers tomorrow!
with windchill temps severely below zero here in MN (in spite of the sun being out), it's nice to see color of all sorts here - reminds me that spring WILL come and bring its riot of color...
I also learned the ROY G. BIV acronym. I think it was in Physics in High School. Funny how those little things stick in your head forever.
I'm a HUGE fan of rainbows and LOVE these cakes - I love that third cake with the rainbow cascading down and over the tiers to the pot of gold! And while not a huge fan of orchids, the rainbow colored orchids on that last cake are pretty spectacular...
Also love the red and violet cakes. The others are lovely too, but those two just pushed my buttons a bit more.

This is just the antidote that I needed to counteract all the snow today. The red one is so elegant. The yellow is so cheery. The blue one is delicate. The green is worthy of envy. The orange is so warming. The lavender is a vision. I love them all. I want one of each on my birthday.
I actually learned it by Roy G. Biv. And the blue one is the best. Blue flowers are always my favorites.

Love them all! The individual sunny cupcakes for the party guests, soooooo sweet! I am a huge fan of the ombré effect! Indigo and violet are my top picks this week!!

I remember this song too that is similar to @Alison's. I too learned it either at Kindergarten, Captain Kangaroo or maybe Sesame Street waaaay back in the early 60's. It goes something like this....

That last cake with the rainbow-hued orchids looks good enough to....uh.....eat?
"I Can Sing a Rainbow" (also known as "Sing a Rainbow") is a popular song written by Arthur Hamilton. It was featured in the 1955 film Pete Kelly's Blues, where it was sung by Peggy Lee.
Andy Williams released a version on his 1964 album, The Wonderful World of Andy Williams.
My version predates that by a couple of years. It is sung either to "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" or, less gently, to the William Tell Overture. :-D
Aviatrix, based on the title of the bakery and the one visible boy's name, (I believe it says Federico) I'm assuming that cake comes from a Spanish or Italian-speaking country, where in most cases, the 'a' is what makes it a feminine name. I'm guessing those girls are named for relatives or saints, rather than the characters from bad teen fiction or misspelled city name monikers that today's anglophone parents are burdening their kids with, or at least, that's my hope. :)

All the cakes are spectacular! That green one is my favourite though. As I scrolled down I was thinking "what a lovely shade of green", and then I saw the ruffles - they take the cake ;)
That last cake was absolutely beautiful. I just got in from clearing a 3 foot bank of snow from the end of my driveway, (hopefully) just wide enough for my husband's car to get through tomorrow (today?). Windchills are expected to be -20 to -30 tomorrow and Tuesday, so the sun and rainbows were especially appreciated! If you could find cakes with flames for one of the next few days, it might help (just a thought).

Oh, I can't decide which is my favorite of today's Sunday Sweets! Usually anything purple, but the orange and indigo cakes are so gorgeous!

Ha! I, too, learned the "I can sing a rainbow" song in grade 1 (ummm...1974?ish) and I can still remember all the lyrics and the tune. I never knew it went any farther than my music class though! You learn a new thing every day here on Cake Wrecks folks! :)
We got the Roy G Biv in my neck of the woods...one of the many clever devices to remember the order of things. Anybody remember "Mark's Very Enlightened Mother Just Sent Us Nine Parakeets." (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto - still a planet when I was a kid!) or "Kevin Philips Could Order Five Green Socks"? (Kindgom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species) Oh the stuff stuck in my head...
Oh my word, the indigo cake! Now THAT is an indigo to be proud of!
