Channel Surfing

In honor of National Repeat Day, I thought we'd click through the channels and see what kind of reruns are playing on the ol' wrecky replay set!
[turning on magic internet TV]
[adjusting rabbit ears]
[then adjusting TV antennae]
[HEYO!]
Ahem. Ok, here we go!
[sound of static fading out]
"... check it! The caretaker here says there's this dog? That's like a ghost? That haunts the library and kills people? So we should totally go there."
"Whoa!"
*beep* *beep* *beeeeeeeeeeeep*
"Did you *beeeep*'n see that?!?"
[camera swinging wildly, sound of scuffling feet]
*beeeeep*
"Dude, tell me you got that on tape!!"
"Sorry, bra. It was pointed at the floor."
"Whoa."
*CLICK*!
"... telling ya, Bob, this here's the BEST vegetable rodeo since the great Zucchini Zambonis of '02!"
*CLICK*!
"The Majestic Disco Newt! Let us pause a moment to admire his beautiful plumage.
"Right. That's long enough. And finally, we have..."
*CLICK!*
[fast-talking-yet-unenthusiastic guy in headset] "When you're done, just throw it in the dishwasher. It's metal. It's shaped like a heart. Look at these balloons:
"There's three different colors. You could use four colors. Or five. It doesn't matter. Pan-Wow.
"Made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff. Use it for Christmas. Use it for ..."
*CLICK!*
"So I says to her, 'hey, baby, don't let the tiny clown car fool you; it's not the way you throw the cream pie, it's the way you put the tutu on the dog!' And she was all, 'What?' and I was all ..."
*CLICK!*
[Severe announcer voice] "Now picture, if you will, five ravenous-yet-dim-witted Shih Tzu dogs:
[sternly] "Let's call them Muffy, Boopsie, Precious, Buttercup and Mr. Snuggles.
"Now picture, if you will, a face of terror that watches in malignant silence far beyond your present capacity to understand. A face enigmatically bizarre in terms of time and space. A face ...
"... of a tweety bird."
*CLICK!*
Yep, as I suspected: nothing on. Ah well! Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow.
Thanks to Leslie, Jordarn J., Marie H., Amy F., Matt N., Christine S. for the rerun run-through.

Good lord the things you've posted on this site :D
My first though upon seeing number three was "why not Zoidburg?"
Still laughing about "adjust rabbit ears" followed by "then adjusting TV antennae" hahahahaha!!!
But I feel kind of feel sorry for those dogs. Or ghosts. Or blobs of icing. Is that a real table? Everything about that first one is mysterious and sad.
OMG WHAT IS THAT BIRD THING???
I may never sleep again.
I think I have those same stations. NOTHING on television At least these are edible, maybe.
The majestic disco newttt!!!!!
Just for the record, I am still happily using my Pan-Wow -- and my Pant-Tastic (which was offered here about a week later)...
Oh, Jen, You had me at Mr. Snuggles.
The third one looks more like a transparent frog that ate a Chinese Checkers board. Wait, is that even possible?
Did anyone else read the last two aloud, at work, in Rod Serling's voice?
No? Just me? OTAY, then...
... Nevermind...
Just when I thought the horny clowns were a lost memory....
The newt reminds me of that Simon game, with the different colors that light up and you have to repeat the order. Yeah, I'm that old. Sigh.
I was shopping with my husband at Michael's a few weeks ago. He finds me in the cake decorating section giggling hysterically. All I could do was point at the heart shaped cake pans & giggle-spurt "Pan-Wow!". :). Fortunately, he's been around me enough times while I've been reading Cake Wrecks to understand. He just shook his head & said "Cake Wrecks?". He he he!
"Sorry, bra"...?
(editor's note: slang term for 'bro', which is short for 'brother'. I know, I know. But trust me, it really is a thing.)
57 channels and and nothin' on...
Can you imagine...the coming generation has no idea what bunny ears are? And likely will never experience 'channel surfing' in the same way? YouTube channel surfing just isn't quite the same.... :P
The Majestic Disco Newt is part of my all-time favorite post. He and His Majestic friends crack me up every single time.
I can't work out which bits are/aren't cake in the first one, and that's not because it's so realistic!
Are both dogs cake? Is the table real? Are they all sitting on a striped cushion? Arrggghghhhh
I think you need a randomizer button at the very top of the website - "Show me a random wreck!" - and it will spit out something wrecky from your archive. Yep, random wreckyness. You could even have a random Sweet, just for people who need reassurance there are good bakers and decorators out there.
@ Bob--I questioned that too. But my explanation was "female bro"
So glad I no longer have a tv set.
That last one made me think of the Whisper Men....could've been because I just watched The Name of the Doctor, but still....that last one is creepy.
That first cake... I am as confused by it as I was the first time. However, now that I know there is at least one other Joe vs. the Volacno fan around here (looking at you, Barbara Anne) I will implement one of my favourite lines. "I have no response to that."
The dogs. What's with the dogs? I'm struggling to understand. And, even more, what are the little brown things in tiny candy cups surrounding thedog-table thing? Did the dogs do that? Is that why they are hiding? (Yes, I saw the 'dogs doo that' possibility, but refrained. Though not for long, apparently.)
The clown. . . . .so disturbing, yet so hilarious. . . . .can't stop laughing.
Although the baby carrot jockeys are still my all-time favorites! I wanna see a zucchini zamboni now!
There's a bird in that last cake???
You could've fooled me...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure she meant "bro"...I hope there's no word like that for a female. "Bra" would be stupid. And the clown?? Is he giving birth to another clown or does he have three legs or is that another dirty cake?
Just for the record, I am still happily using my Pan-Wow -- and my Pant-Tastic (which was offered here about a week later)...
(that is a repeat of my earlier post in honor of National Repeat Day)....
#4 immediately brought to mind a toilet. It's the way the pan-wow cookie (bowl) is sitting, slightly above the others with the taller box right behind as a "tank"...
@BADKarma, you are not alone. I, too, heard a ghostly Rod Serling.... *brrrr*
And yet again, I've learned something from CakeWrecks - National Repeat Day. I do have a copy of Groundhog Day at home...but I really will try not to post this comment twice.
@Bob, John(thoj), and drgns4vr: in Hawaiian pidgin, we normally spell it "brah"; short for "bruddah"...plus there's less confusion that way. :)
@Karin - I didn't even realize that the black thing under the table was supposed to be a dog. I tend to see the face of the first one and scroll quickly past!
As long as we're all ("all"-ha!) talking about Joe vs Volcano stuff, MY favorite line was, "What's that, a teddy bear?".
The sad owl-head: yet ANOTHER Godfather-esque, severed-head wannabe. And was he/it hyperventillating or something? The glass is all steamed-up and drippy-like.
The pupcakes are kinda-sorta almost "cute", but the one furthest to the right needs to lose the false eyelashes. They make her look cheap.
Best (?) for last: Bozo, there. I'm almost REALLY confused. Does he actually have three legs, or is he just happy to see me?
=^e.e^=
@Myra: yeah, the newt's name HAS to be Simon. I'm that old too.
I thought National Repeat day was February 2.
Anyone who's ever watched Dog the Bounty Hunter knows about 'bra'. The use of the term, I mean. In reference to guys. Oy...
Simon: "She turned me into a newt!" Doesn't look like he got better.
I so rarely see the carrot jockeys en mass that I'm always awed when that photo pops up again. seriously, who doesn't giggle at that pic??
zoomom, I used that quote so much my family made me stop! how I ended up with a family that doesn't appreciate that flick is beyond me.
sendingtheclowns, I liked the explanation that Joe had a "brain cloud." I'm pretty certain that's what most wreckerators have, too.
LOL to mel for the repeat (did you lather and then rinse first?)
@Corax I'm so glad I'm not the only one. :-)
Anyone else try to *CLICK*? No? Just me? Okay, time for bed....
@Corax & Myra - trust me, plenty of us Wreckies are "that old". Ah, poor Simon - he once was a clever, sophisticated, yet easy electronic game to play and now he's just *simple* Simon, abandoned in the corner while kiddies rock on Bop IT! and Bop IT! XT, etc...
@Craig - snort! I love Groundhog Day w/Bill Murray. The Stargate episode which was 'Groundhog Day'ish is also very fun to watch... "COLONEL O'NEILL!" "What?! In the middle of my backswing?!"
Well that scared me off tiny dogs and clowns forever lol. And I too thought the turtle like thing looked like that Simon game. Sigh..
@Craig - Maybe today was just a repeat of National Repeat Day.
What, no mention of the patriotic sperm on the Pan-Wow thing?
This post reminded me of one of my favourite shows, "Bob's Burgers"; Bob and his hysterically weird daughter Louise like to get together and form/play The Burn Unit, which involves watching a channel for like three seconds, finding something to say something awful about, yelling "BUUUUURN!" and quickly changing the channel. "Oh wow, nice hat, lady-- oh, that's your hair? BUUUUUUUURN!" [click], etc.
My two best friends (three, including The Vulcan) like to get together with me every weekend and MST3K the hell outta deliciously bad movies; we have named ourselves The Burn Unit, in honour of BB, even though we watch the whole thing.
"Dude, Burn Unit tonight? I got 'Battle Beyond the Stars' and the 1976 'King Kong'!"
"HA HAAAA! YES! BURN UNIT, ASSEMBLE!"
Your Pal,
Storm
"Joe vs. the Volcano" is one of my all-time favorite movies, just about on par with "The Princess Bride". Sadly, I am usually surrounded by those who just don't get it. I should have known my fellow CW fans would appreciate it.
"Long ago, the delicate tangles of his hair... covered the emptiness of my hand"
And in honor of National Repeat Day, here it is again:
"Long ago, the delicate tangles of his hair... covered the emptiness of my hand"
By the way, "I'm a flibbertigibbet" (said with the back of my hand to the side of my mouth).
@ lisadh, who wrote:
"By the way, "I'm a flibbertigibbet" (said with the back of my hand to the side of my mouth)."
Could you be more specific, please? I tried doing that, with the back of my right hand against the right side of my mouth., and it didn't seem right. Same went for left hand against left side of mouth.
Hey! I just figured it out! It DID work if I used the right hand up to the left side of my mouth, and the left hand up to the right side of my mouth. That's what you did, too, right??
Next, should we try the "tongue-in-cheek" exercise?
=^~.<^=
Aww, I missed National Repeat Day!
